I used to buy police crown vics at municipal auctions in NM for around $1000 each with 100K miles on them. I used them as cabs and one point I had 13 of them on the road. I typically ran them up to 500,000 miles before I'd sell them off. Police crown vics (Interceptors) have P71 in the VIN vs civilian ones that have P73 in their VINs.
Just an FYI, you could get a 9C1 Caprice police package in 94-96 with the small 4.3 V8. Here in Denver the city cars often had the 4.3 but the cars stationed at the airport had the 5.7 engines.
2006 to 2011 crown Victoria have top notch - built proof transmissions. 4r75e.... Any c.v. 2005 and down: expect to replace transmission multiple times
The 5.3 powered 2007-14 Tahoes suffer from cam failures similar to the Chargers. The active fuel management system was a flawed design the led to premature engine failure. Let's not even get into the 6 speed transmission issues.
Just got myself a 2005 Ford Five Hundred from GovDeals and I'm trying to sell my 2003 Crown Victoria with 121k miles. Marketplace sucks but I would be happy to get $800
I would have bid on some those Vic's, they went for a decent price being a well equipped car .. It could have been good content video to see how good of a deal you got as well..
If that is just a city auction and not a dealer auction. That is some great prices. In this area a POS with 200,000+ miles on and they will try to get 2k + out of it.
Last year I bought a 2017 Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD, it was a NC State Patrol car. Had 131k miles, 1245 idle hours out of a total 4500 hours. Paid 12k for it. Did not have the Hemi tic. It’s been great!
@@streetratgarage Most of the state patrol cars here had about 6000-7000 total hours and over 2k idle hours. This was one of the few with low hours. They come with complete maintenance records. All I had to do with mine was get the front axles replaced.
8:359:25 well... I guess I now know why the 1994 Thunderbird I have was that same gray color when i got it, the spec sheet was on top of the gas tank "very crusty paper could only vaguely make out the word Indiana out of the mostly washed out gibberish left on it". and the only thing wrong i found was the fuel injectors and pump went bad with the 8.8 axle shafts braking after an N/A tune up. they are only fast enough to catch up when the local dealerships re-tune everything locally on the new and used marked to comply with emissions standards as "grams of CO2/hr (56kg/hr) that is 1/4 that of the 150lb/hr of fuel those 4.6's will burn aka 213-450kg/hr CO2"
Any chance of a website for these cars I always wanted a white crown vic I had a 2008 baby blue one from Seattle and currently have a 2011 all black from well still trying figure it out but its from California
The name of the auction house is called Kessler Schaefer auto auction in Indianapolis. Just google that name and it’ll take you to their website where you can navigate to online auctions.
I would imagine that the cops sit in the car with the air conditioning on so have to leave the engine running. It’s a shame because it damages the engine
I have an 06 CVPI now has 257k miles. Mainly problem free cept for few normal issues. Also driven a Charger. The Charger is a better car. Batter turning radius, more nimble and more power (V8). But no way I'll keep the Vic no issues just drive it.
Very surprised a country like the states Police keep cars so very long a 14 years old.Crown Vic so police must have had it at least 13 years. In Europe you don't see cars getting that old in the UK doubt you will see a Police car over 3 years old . If you do its due to leave and waiting to replaced. All Traffic type cars here until end of 23 were Bmw 330diesel.530diesel.& X5s , Bmw has refused to sell uk police forces any diesel..So back to Volvo's & Jags.
Well, it’s kind of like this. The country as a whole has a police force, every state and territory of the United States of America has a police force within those states are counties, which also have a police force within those counties are cities that have a police force within those cities Are townships which often have a police force there are also schools that have police forces. Each and everyone has their own budget and is responsible for buying their own vehicles. Some of those budget are larger than others depending on the management skills. There are a lot of places that do swap out their cars every few years or when the factory warranty runs out. There are others that don’t have the budget to do so, so they keep, what they have running as long as they can.
@@JimBuffalo there is another online auction site called govdeals.com. They have listings of several municipalities that are selling government vehicles. And this website is nationwide and you can bid online. So check that one out if you are looking for some police cars or government own vehicles.
The hemi engine does not do well when you leave it idle for a long period of time and this is exactly what a lot of police officers do. The low idling does not allow enough oil to get onto the cam and roller lifters, causing a roller lifter failure that leads to grinding the lobes off of the cam. this ticking sound is what you hear when the lobes are wearing out.
So you think that gray Crown Vic might've been sitting 2 to 3 years as you stated in the video and you started it and let it run with potentially bad gas in the tank that if so is now running through the injectors and through the whole car, nice. Apparently your not buying it, though it sucks for the next buyer with what you and probably every other person there is doing.
Every car there will be started by the auction and run for about 20 mins as it waits in line to go on the auction block. If you watched the whole auction, that same car was shown driving through the auction. The driver saw it was starting to over heat and kept on running the car until it was starting to rattle by the time they sold it. Then drove it back to the back lot. So that’s how things work at an auction. And what you need to be aware of before you buy.
What world do you live in that the pentastar 3.6 not make noise. All Chrysler products make cam and lifter noise. It's how mechanics in the hood have earned a living for the past 12-15 years
Auctions are one of the last con games hoisted on the public. Always some wild cards in the bidding audience driving up the price and others winning the bid but turning the car back in to be bid on at a later date and to a different audience. Also like buying a pig in a poke, never really know what you are getting but can bet the auction house knows.
POLICE ALWAYS SELL OFF THEIR OLD CARS, I JUST WISH THEY WOULD LET ALL POLICE KNOW. I've seen so many people get one of these at auction and then get harassed by police. Either police don't know they are sold. I've seen videos because the decal that came on the car said police intercepter and the guy got screemed at. I don't know that its worth the stress.
Not sure what the problem is, but I have driven several X police vehicles. I am actually driving a 2014 Tahoe X state police vehicle. I have never been pulled over for that reason.
Whooff, lots of american cars. imagine the government had to export these to a kinda poor country like afghanistan. Maybe..🙄 all of them would've been sold quickly as possible if working.
2k for a crown Vic you can't go wrong
Cool auction! Some good deals on some of those Vic's. To bad you didn't pick one up. One of your best vids imo. Thanks!
Maybe next time.

As a vic owner myself this is pretty much heaven for me especially with some of those prices which aren't bad at all
Awesome video! Love seeing all the crown vics. I have owned 3. The fastest was my 1998. Old mighigan state police cruiser, miss that car, lol.
lol 98-09 was like the same, fastest? how was one faster
Most of our general duty patrol units in Brisbane Australia are Camry Hybrids, they are retired at 4 years or or 130,000k
That's young, especially since with a hybrid you're not racking up insane numbers of idle hours.
Just an FYI, you could get a 9C1 Caprice police package in 94-96 with the small 4.3 V8. Here in Denver the city cars often had the 4.3 but the cars stationed at the airport had the 5.7 engines.
Last of an Era. This is probably huge batch of Crown Victoria's you'll see for sale. Great automobile
those crown vics are beasts. I would always recommend buying one. no problems finding parts
Appreciate the video. Hadn't been to one yet but am interested. Thanks.
4.3 v6 Chevy was a popular engine used in yellow New York City taxicabs back in the day.
Alot of the Police Charger's are 6 Cylinder's for that reason you explained about the idling
I did not know that, Thanks for the info
Finally… real cars
THEM NEW CARGERS ARE JUNK SUVS ARE WORSE
CROWN VICS CAN GO 500-600K WITH SYNETHIC OIL
Howdy! Ohio here!
Suprised old cleeter wasnt over buying them all up lol hes got a graveyard of about 100 of the things + how evermany run

Glad you enjoyed it!

Turn off the afm with hp tuners and change the transmission fluid like you should and they just keep going. I’m at 440,000 mile right now
so was the 6.2 after 07
I got this advice from the late Carl Weathers to ‘buy cars from police auctions’
Just like our Aussie made fords the rust loves a ford
Just got myself a 2005 Ford Five Hundred from GovDeals and I'm trying to sell my 2003 Crown Victoria with 121k miles. Marketplace sucks but I would be happy to get $800
If it runs good and the transmission is fine and looks halfway decent it would go for $1500 all day long.
damn these vics selling for pretty cheap over there, Wish vics were that cheap here anymore.
Perfect audio balance when using the Iphone
Like the dodge Dodge charger police cars
Those r some high milage squads ...
The rooks get the old squads as their first 😂
I would have bid on some those Vic's, they went for a decent price being a well equipped car .. It could have been good content video to see how good of a deal you got as well..
they can be used as storm chasers

Best to buy 4 or 5 and build 1 with all the best parts. Buy the 5.7 V8!

That’s low idle hours for a police car. A lot have half the amount of the total hours.
@@streetratgarage Most of the state patrol cars here had about 6000-7000 total hours and over 2k idle hours. This was one of the few with low hours. They come with complete maintenance records. All I had to do with mine was get the front axles replaced.
That 95 caprice classic had a4.3 L V / 6
No v-6 cars in this body style. The 4.3 for this car is the L99 v-8
hi.i enjoyed your video.what do you think about the ford taurus police cruisers.are they good?
I wouldn't mind a Charger 6 cylinder.
Randy from Auto Auction Rebuilds can roam around, doing that all day long. That old man is very sick.
Haha
Looks like one of the MCSO used by the warrants unit I recall seeing 5 of them a few years ago all black. Guess sold over on the west side auction ???
Yes. 46 and Lafayette area
That was a 1995 Caprice with the L99 4.3 V8 and those were factory wheels NOT custom!!! And caprice 94-96 9C1 came with both L99 and LT1 V8's
Crown Victoria looks so much better than the challenger

Cleatus McFarland buys a bunch of those!! Then he invites some crazy hot riders to come and have a race BIG TIME!!!!
Tx in the house
That was not a Taurus, it was a Fusion
Those 07-14 Tahoe's ALSO have camshaft/lifter issues cause of the AFM crap
That’s easy to fix. Find someone with ho tuner. And flip one switch in the ecu and you’re good to go.
People please subscribe, like, and comment.

@streetratgarage thank you sir appreciate 🙏🏽 🍻💯
The only reason to ever buy one of these ex government cars, is for the motor and transmission to put in another Ford. 😂

If show up in the hood in an unmarked Crown vic and try and make UC drug buy, good luck.
You didn’t buy anything?
i think they dont have ford taurus police
You Can See Idle Hours on them You Never look at?
Ok Not you looked at Them.. Good job
All taxpayer money up in smoke.
What about GMC or Chevrolet Trucks? Like the Crown Vics. Can be good.
Check out Govdeals.com for trucks
What the website for this auction?
Look up Kessler Schaefer auto auction in Indianapolis

100% agreed. I don't like that he buys these cars in masses and trashes them. These vics should go to someone that will cherish them.
How about silence during the auction. Headache dude.
