Bar Cabinet Makeover with Chalk Paint

In this video we will makeover this beautiful gold Bar Cabinet with Waverly Chalk Paint! We will bring the gold back out with some "wet" distressing, done simply by using a wet cloth/rag! Some dry brushing with a contrasting color will add more character, along with gilding wax updating the hardware. Finished off with Annie Sloan Clear Wax for protection! I watch you and Christina Muscari, keep dipping your brushes into the wax jar. I will give you some advice I got from "the Purple Painted Lady" a retailer of Annie Sloan paint, take the wax out of the can with a throw away spoon and put it on a paper plate and use it that way or you are going to contaminate your can by getting paint into can of wax.

I’m so obsessed with your painting techniques! I literally found you last night and have been watching every single video trying to study the way you paint. I just bought an antique sideboard and haven’t touched it yet because I cannot figure out how I want to redo it. This is the how I’d like to do it but I have a question for you. Should I paint gold on the wooden appliqué details first before I chalk paint it? Or should I just use guilding wax after?

If you are not going to remove them then after painting, if you remove them it wont matter! Gilding wax is a wax so it protects, its a finishing job!

Ειρήνη Γιαννακοπουλου this was gold underneath so it came out after distressing. But typically I use gold gilding wax for hardware, it’s linked in most of my videos in the description.
