  • Pittwater, Northern Beaches, Sydney Australia Drone 4K Aerial Cinematography Movie DJI Mavic 3 Pro
Welcome to ‘Pittwater’, a film that celebrates the natural beauty and spectacular scenery of this Australian waterway on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The soundtrack features music by the German composer Matthias Förster. It is a privilege to be able to create a marriage between my visuals and the spectacular and uplifting music created by Mathias.
Pittwater is one of the bodies of water that separate greater Metropolitan Sydney from the Central Coast. It stretches from the suburb of Bayview near Mona Vale and Warriewood in the south, along the eastern ridge of the Barrenjoey Peninsula leading to Palm Beach. Along the western ridge it follows the Lambert Peninsula leading to West Head.
Whilst the eastern side of the waterway is tightly filled with highly sort and expensive real estate, the western side is very much as it was for thousands of years due to being included within the boundaries of Kur-ing-gai National Park.
The film was shot entirely on a DJI Mavic 3 Pro.
I truly hope you enjoy it and gain a greater appreciation for this magnificent estuary.
    Scenes:
Scene 1 - Bayview to Church Point and Scotland Island
Soundtrack: ‘At World’s End’ by Matthias Förster
Starting at Bayview we look out along the waterway from above Yachtsman’s Park. Heading west we pass Radhurst’s Cove and Bayview Dog Park as they are seen from the perspective of the Newport Hotel the opposite shore. Gliding over countless boats and yachts at anchor we turn beside the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club to glimpse Lion Island in the distance. We turnback to face Pittwater Road near Griffin Park and watch a squad of cyclers before reaching Church Point and swinging past the dining venue ‘Pasadena’.
Here we take pause to watch birds launching skyward from the water. It’s a slow turn to see McCarr’s Creek and then to finish with a view of Scotland Island.
Scene 2 - Elvina Bay, Rocky Point, Lovett Bay to Taylor’s Point and Clareville
Soundtrack: ‘Defend The Kingdom’ by Matthias Förster
We start the second scene following the western ridge past the points directly facing Scotland Island: Elvina Bay, Rocky Point and Lovett Bay. After reaching Longnose Point we enjoy a jump-cut to a beautiful speedboat cruising the waterway.
This leads us to the eastern shore to fly over the beautiful Taylor’s Point and then to finish at the suburb of Clareville.
Scene 3 - Paradise Bay, Stokes Point and Careel Bay
Soundtrack: ‘Sunrays Kiss Me Awake’ by Matthias Förster
Staying on the eastern shore a gorgeous, secluded spot known as Paradise Bay is where we commence scene three. We then venture along the Avalon Beach edge of Pittwater until reaching Taylor’s Point where we turn into Careel Bay. It’s a wonder to explore the last remaining marshland found in the waterway before we take a close look at the moon like landscape of craters created by mud crabs in the flats parallel to Barrenjoey Road.
Scene 4 -The Basin and Currawong Beach
Soundtrack: ‘Beautiful Nature’ by Matthias Förster
There are many beautiful places along the Pittwater estuary but my favourite is the small bay known as The Basin, located on the western side. It is the only place where you are permitted to camp in Kur-ing-gai Chase National Park and with no access by car it remains a popular but not overwhelmed location. Here you can wake to the sounds of the area very much as they were for the thousands of years prior when populated by the first nations Kuringgai peoples.
After exploring the basin the sequence ends heading north to Currawong Beach.
Scene 5 - Mackeral Beach, Resolute Beach, West Head, Dark Gully, Sandy Beach, Palm Beach, Barrenjoey
Soundtrack: ‘World Without End’ by Matthias Förster
As we reach the end of our Pittwater adventure it is time to go up-tempo to enjoy the natural beauty of the points of interest within the final leg. We see some amazing designs within kelp beds between Careel Bay and Dark Gully. At Palm Beach we pass by some of the most expensive, waterside real estate on the Northern Beaches Peninsula.
Our final scene is the iconic Barrenjoey headland together with its lighthouse. This location has long been a key element within the Australian TV Soap Home and Away where it is known as Summer Bay.
