  • Motor is back in the frame, I hook up the electrical, radiator, carbs, and take it right up to where I hit the start button for the first time.

If you want to make it easy, just get rid of the surge tank (I did), and just route the overflow tubes down to the bottom of the motor. I never really saw any benefit from the surge tank, and I like to get rid of unnecessary clutter in the engine compartment.

Does that negative terminal lead go to that post on the starter?

Its been awhile, but my recollection is that both a positive lead, and a negative lead go to the starter motor, connect the positive to the connector on the outer cover, and the negative lead goes to one of the connecting bolts that attaches the starter to the engine cover.

Noah Murphy I think I answered this question on one of the other videos, I think I spent roughly $1500, a big part of that was replating the cylinders.

Hi Gene, sorry about not having a carb install, I assumed everyone's done that enough they don't need to see it. Here's my advice for getting that carb assembly back in: 1. make sure all hose clamps are VERY loose, and that the rubber boots are on the engine block, not the carbs (see the 1:31 mark of this video for a view of that. 2. grease lightly the carb inlets that fit into those boots. 3. position the carbs on the boots, pull the carbs back towards the rear of the bike, then when downward pressure applied, push the carbs forward towards the front of the bike and down, and they should pop into the boots. I don't rock them back and forth as much as I do a down and forward motion. Good luck.
