    Thanks for this video! I really appreciate how you explained how to correctly get the necessary measurements with the ruler before the in-depth demonstration of how to use the bottom bracket tool as well as the bearing extractor.

    Hi, thanks for the video! In 5:15 on, could it be that they're not anodized because they fit tightly into each other, and that's why they are finished like that? I'm guessing that either the inserting and removing would scratch the coatings off anyway, and/or that the coating changes the tolerance of the fit.

      It's not that they need a coating but that the machining is bad (sharp, visible grooves, burrs). This indicates that whoever made it maybe had a dull cutter or was running the speed too high to try to save $$. Manufacturers try to push the limits of their machines to make more pieces in less time.
