You will be glad of every inch of that insulation when winter comes back...great job
Melissa you are an absolute pro in photography. You do so much justice to the beauty of your natural surroundings. It is captured perfectly
Wow, thank you so much 💓
The moment I saw Eli with his paper airplane I was transported back to my childhood.
That kid is so sweet and wholesome. All of your kids are awesome, but he reminds me so much of myself at that age. The cowboy boots and the bomber jacket he wears sometimes…he’s your curious adventurer.
Oh my heart ❤ that precious little Pony just has to go with, there's no way he/she could be left behind 🙏 they are family 💕
Yea, I was thinking “are they a package deal?”. He looks like he was having a blast running after the bigger horse.
But the pony too! Package deal
Agreed. You get a pair with this one, and OH what an adorable little Shadow❤💯
One, of many, of the best parts of your videos is that you intersperse short clips of the sheep and Kenji and horse riding along with see-saw play on a long board. Family. I love to see what a wholesome family is like. Your videos brighten my Saturday. I look forward to watching them before I check emails or browse the net. Thank you. Grandpa Steve likes the white horse even though I don't ride and have not been on a horse in over 30 years. Your videos are the real "family values."
Do you guys ever wonder if a bear can step in your driveway door or open doors ?? If so!what will be your immediate protection?😊
It concerns me to see the kids playing and the inmajineble happen God for bit and keep you all safe at all times.
❤️

In childhood we had a white horse with a very original name: whitey.😊
@@lydiacruzparker9494 Wouldn't the bear be attracted to sheep first and foremost as much easier prey? Of course bad coincidence can happen, but how do you protect the garage, always keeping the door closed?
You looked so good on that horse and he seemed so gentle and docile. Everyone looked great on that horse and without fear. Loved seeing the sheep and that Kenji is doing well. Great job guys! Love and be safe!😘🤗🌼ve
Ah beautiful horse 🐎. I can’t wait to see Eli’s growth with horses. He is like his momma a natural
Glad Kenji's better, he's a trooper. The cat following you reminded me of the neighbors cat that would follow me and my dog on walks.
You are doing an amazing job
To bring up your children
The right way
I’m 70 years old I know what family means and it looks exactly like yours
Love you all❤🙏🏻🐶and Kenji always
If you staple string to zig-zag across from the lowest point you start insulating to the ridge of the roof as you go along it will keep the insulation from falling out. Not my idea, found it on another reconstruction site and thought it was a good idea. Love your videos.
It’s been amazing how you guys gone this far in building your homestead & not professionals in this industry. Mind blower for me. Amazing, bc your a team & understand your roles in doing this, is the reason all has come to reality, whew ! Good job. You both found each other good partnership, most marriages do not have in these day & age … 😇👍🏼
Why not looking out for a Draft-Mixtur? These horses are known for their good-natured and calm characters, endurance and their willingness to work. A Draft-Pony or even a Draft-Mule would be a great accompaniment for the kids over years.
Your love of horses is so great, I knew it wouldn't take you long to start looking. You may not have taken it home the same day, I bet you have made your mind up. The snow has returned, but you can still work indoors.
Stay safe, love from Mike. ❤
Great work on Gabby .glad Kenji is better . I like that horse. I'm sure we'll see it on the farm soon
It was great seeing a sunny day & loved seeing your cat go on the walk with you all! It must be hard not taking home each pony…the little black one was soo cute! Gabby is looking great too!
A little early for shed hunting just yet. Elk tend to drop there’s around March-April.
We'll try again
It's so nice and refreshing to see how you guys prioritize your family time. Your posts leave me so happy and refreshed. Saturdays are the highlight of my week
Eli’s little face was so cute on the horse! Good luck with your search!
Best riding horse you have had yet. Really gentle and easy riding .
I look forward to Saturday’s GSL channel drop. I love Melissa’s editing skills, music selection and watching them team-up and get the job done.
The apartment is looking better and better! Best wishes on finding a new horse.
Thank you 😊
So happy to hear that Kenji is feeling better!🙏🏼❤️ wishing you the best in finding the horse that is the right fit for your family❣️
Every time I watch y’all’s videos I actually forget I’m watching a CZcams video, I feel like I’m watching a movie… it’s so wonderfully filmed each time.
Aww thank you 😊 🙏
Me too!
My bull dog Buckaroo loves to go for a Spring walk looking for sheds. He is good at it. I can look and look, not find anything. Buckaroo , he's got it time and time again.
Such a loving close knit family and lovers of animals. You are getting a lot done on Gabby and after insulation in the roof area I could hear the difference in sound and coziness. Yes a new Horse needs to be approached slowly to be some what that it will be the right for the whole family. Keeping that in prayer so that you can make a good decision until the next one be blessed and safe.
I love Saturdays and Wednesdays because I get to see the most amazing family and to hear Melissa do her calming and inspiring words at the end. The horse you looked at today was beautiful. Eli had a smile from ear to ear. It is definitely a well trained animal. The little pony following was so adorable. Jeremy seemed pretty calm riding. Have a great week in all your endeavors. Love you all.🐎🐎🐎❤❤❤
Me too
Beautiful horse, curious to see what you choose.
I'm surprised you guys don't wear safety goggles more when working with insulation or cutting wood. I'd be so nervous about getting a little piece in my eye.
Another great video! Thanks for sharing. Have a great week!
We tried but they got so foggy!!
especially with insulation
A tip for those that are shed hunting - follow streams that the deer are able to jump across.
So happy to see you beautiful family !! This Great Grandma, got teary eyed when I saw the horse you went to look at. It looks like the horse I got for my son , many moons ago. She was the best. I miss that time in my life, but...just yesterday, Feb.16,2024 I became Great Grandma for the second time !! Cruz, my Great Grandson became a big brother to his sister Kaydee Nicole!! Woohoo !! So blessed ! God bless you and keep you dear family !!
Congratulations! May God keep blessing you.🙏✝️
That is so sweet. I hope you all are healthy and happy.
Congrats GG!!
Congratulations !!!!!!!! from a far away country, The UK
Congratulations!
Hope you find the right horse for your family. ❤
Good morning Beautiful family every time you show your property it’s breathtaking. Y’all live in a little peace of heaven on earth. It make me happy every time I watch your channel.
Snowy there..Wet n squishy..rainy here!!
Good progress on Gabby...lookin good!!
At the right moment..
the right horse will make itself known..
Enjoy the journey
til then!!!!
🤙🧙♂️🐺👍
I just love how loving all 9f the animals are! Especially the sheep! I bottle fed a Suffolk Ram, and he was so sweet! He actually belonged to my son. He named him Aires because that was his birth sign. I loved it. There was also a barred rock rooster that adored my son as well. He would run to greet him when he came home from school ❤ I miss our little farm of orphans 🥰
Beautiful photography! Good music choices. Gabby is going great. Good luck with the horse. Bless you guys. ❤
I am so happy Kenji is feeling better and the horse is a lovely one, has a lovely face and I think you may not have taken him home immediately, but I do think it may be a winner. Have a lovely week end.
It's too late now but they make spring wires that are cut to standard openings that you push up and supports the insolation from falling
Absolutely love your videos! Thank you for sharing your everyday life on your homestead. I love hearing your insight message at the end and always anticipating your next venture 👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
It’s Saturday baby.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Let’s gooooooooo. God bless you today and your family ❤
Let's gooooo!!! ❤️ 💙 💜
Guys why don't you cover your nose all the time using that fiberglass insulation. It's in the air around you as long as you are using it. They have a saying it's not the same day leaf drop in the water it rotten. This can come back to haunt in your later days when it affects your lungs. PLZ BE CAREFUL.
Great job. Good luck in finding a horse. That one looked very friendly and well trained. Have a great week.
Happy Saturday Souza family! Great progress on the apartment this week. That white horse looks promising - hopefully if you decide on him that he & Lexen will get along. Lastly, so very happy that Kenji is feeling better - I (and we) were so worried about him. Have a blessed week and we'll see you next Saturday! ❤
Thank you! You too!
Great video folks, like that the insulation is done in Gabby and that Kenji is feeling better. This Old Dawg is feeling better too, must be Spring is near?? Everyone seemed fine with the white horse and how she handled. Stay safe and keep up the great videos and fun you all have making them. Fred.
Are you going to paint the pump house door to match the pole barn doors? I think that would look really nice and symmetrical.
Yes
The horse seems responsive and you can tell it is in tune with the individual rider and adjusts with each one. Maybe a lease with the option to purchase? That way you could try it out for a few months? (this may be an option with any horse not just specifically this one)
Hi! You feed your dog the exact same thing we feed our dogs. They love it and have done so well on it since we took them off the kibble a few years ago. We have one very senior chihuahua, one 13yr old Shih Tzu and a 11yr old Shih Tzu. You would never guess the Shih Tzu’s ages. They still act, run, jump and play like they are 5 years old lol. So I know the food is working well for them. I’m so glad Kenji is feeling better! Blessings ❤😊
Happy Saturday 🌞 nice you're moving right along with Gabby 😊 Hope can find the best horse for your family 🤞 nice your family went for a walk together 😊 take care 🙏🇺🇲💖
Good thing you did your hike when you did. Sorry you didn’t find any sheds. I found one years ago while mushroom hunting, in the trees.
That horse is beautiful and has "soft eyes." In the film we saw, it looks gentle.
Congrats on getting Gabby's insulation finished. Now to the Everlog siding (is that right?) and you're done. On to the fun part: decorating! ~ I really like the horse you went to check out and is that her foal? The little one is adorable! I hope they're a "set," lol.
Oh my goodness!! That little black pony was adorable!!!
You should get the frost guard system for your windshields.
Here in the uk any dwellings above a garage the ceiling must be double boarded or fire barrier especially as your escape is at the back of the garage and not to outside.
This was a nostalgic episode for me. I was brought to tears watching your family with the horse you were considering to purchase. My son was 11 years old when we bought our first horse. He wanted a Paint and we found the sweetest, gentle mare with a little brown heart "patch" on her rump. My son named her Apache and we called her Patch for short. He made so many good memories with her. He is 54 yrs old now, but his love for horses has remained strong! You may never know the joy you bring to the lives of your viewers so I had to share my story. Thank you for sharing your live adventures with us! Blessings and Love!
❤️
I get so excited on Wednesdays and Saturdays to see your videos and podcast. Thank you for putting them out and love the beautiful scenery and especially Melissa's wise words at the end of each video.
Thank you 😊
One way to get the insulation up and held in place the first time would be to buy some inexpensive "Poly Strapping" and using a staple gun lay a few straps on the underside of the ceiling joists. That was the insulation has something to lay down on, and you can just leave it while laying drywall over it. I looked up what a roll of that strapping on Amazon costs and a 4000 ft spool of Poly Strapping 1/2 Plastic Strapping is only about $35.00.
Love your videos guys and all the fantastic things you do together. Gabby is really coming along nice, you will be done soon. Looking forward to the finishing touches. I am no horse expert but that white horse seemed to me to be pretty nice. Love seeing the kids enjoying themselves. You’re a good Mom and Dad.❤️❤️👍👍🇨🇦
Melissa, your transitions and pans in your cinematography are incredibly beautiful. The footage you capture is always so visually elegant and presented in such a personal way. I just wanted to shout out your "behind the camera talents" too. Blessings of joy to you and the family!
Wow, thank you!
Look forward to see the answer on what horse you choose. As for snow - this is February - anything can happen in North Idaho when it comes to weather. LOL - LOve the updates.
This horse is for you guys…🤔 I hope you got him or her for your kids! I make my two dog’s food too, for 13 years now! 👍🏻
SO Happy that Kenji is feeling better🥰❤ I can't wat for the kiddo's and Lexon to have a buddy they can depend on. You are doing it the right way!! Thoughts and prayers that everything goes well. Have a happy weekend
Thank you so much 🤗
Such a beautiful property and scenery. Beautiful horse... Love this family and animals that are part of it..Blessings and love ❤
Appreciate your video so much today. A calming presence in a crazy world. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
As always a great videos with great ending/commentary.
Way to stick together you guys.
Melissa, you will find the right horse that fits into the family, and Gabby is getting closer to getting the kitchen cabinets in ❤️🇨🇦
The space is coming together. Exciting times ahead indeed.
Love watching these videos every Saturday! Will the little buddy horse be coming home too? ;)
Finding your heart horse is a journey and once you find it you’ll know.
I really loved how patient and smart you’re with any decision making, thanks for sharing 😊
You have no snow. Come to Halifax, Nova Scotia and we have five foot banks of snow to two major snow storms
Since I don't know anything about horses, I go by looks. I am really impressed with white horse. I know that you are very comfortable horse shopping with your resident young cow poke along. 😅
I know about patience (or lack thereof), but nothing about horses. Every time I am searching for something I tend to go too fast to a final decision. NOT A GOOD THING! Jeremy is apparently good for you in this. How exciting for the children! You are a good Mom!
I love all the time lapse video so much. I could watch hours of that. Your property is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
That white horse has a little dark shadow. You have some good riding skills. You guys are a real family team
Congrats on 500k. Wow lets get yo a million.
Aww another installment from my favorite CZcams family the Souzas!
Gabby coming along nicely! And it's so nice to see Jeremy back in the saddle! Praying you find the right fit for your family! Thank you so much for sharing! Hope you all have a wonderful week!❤
Sorry I posted your last pod cast on my page, I’m Canadian I had no clue this is happening I’m a grandma but have noticed major changes in my granddaughter’s
life in the past year. I’m going to be talking to her soon as I can.
Thanks for the night sky.❤
Your very kind with your animals ❤
im so glad your dog is ok, we had a boxer and he sadly died in January
So glad you are done with the insulation on gabby awesome. That looks like a good horse, and Ely seemed to like him. 😊
Love watching you're fam and all your animals!❤❤❤
Glad Kenji is feeling better ! Loved the family walk for the shed hunting , I noticed your cat went with y'all 😆 that was nice ! Gabby is near completion and will be amazing ! ❤
Our basement insulation is held up with wires, (wirehanger thick) every 16". Those fall every so often with expansion/contraction of house.
Sweet Horse shopping 🐎🐎🐎🐎❤❤❤ This suggestion is just something to consider find a horse who is not too old, arround 9 to 12 yrs old the same age as eli so they can have more years together. A really Good calm horse trained with liberty or join-up is the best
Compressing insulation destroys its R-value. The air within the insulation is what provides / creates the insulating effect. You should be modifying the thickness of the insulation batts where they overlap with the spray foam insulation, to keep the fluff / air pockets intact. This would also prevent the spring effect which is causing them to pop out. If you haven't already sheetrocked them in, may want to go back and do this. Sure, modifying them (making thinner) seems counterintuitive, but the non-compressed (thinner) insulation combined with the spray foam insulation would be better than the compressed insulation jammed in there. Just a suggestion for optimal performance of your build.
well this is a day late and a dollar short, but if you dust yourself with baby powder before insulation, it will keep it out of your pores. also start your shower cold instead of hot, the heat will open your pores more and let fiberglass in, the cold will shut your pores then clean with heated water. also NVH makes cancer stuff for animals, a bit pricey but well worth it for Kenji's long term!
I think you should get the little Shelty too - they are clearly besties and Casper (white gentle ghost) looks like an amazingly docile creature that is well trained and Jeremey looked most comfortable on it; It would be so sad for them to be separated. Good luck on your decision and well done on the insulation. The day of completion of the apartment is getting closer and closer and before you know it, Nevaeh will be moving in!
I have 2 beautiful white Turkish angora cats called Casper and his sister Willo-the-Wisp x
So true Melissa....."the fear of making the wrong decision, can hold you back from ever making one at all"!!
I look forward to seeing your videos each week and have been following GSL since Vancouver WA days!!;)
❤️
Verything is looking great. Love the walk it looked so beautiful and seeing the deer. You have a beautiful property. Loving the horse, it's a big decision on what is right for your needs. You are such a beautiful family! Always love watching! 🙏💕🌴
Eli is The Best! Loved that he was practicing his bull riding skills while on the see-saw. 🐴
There are some pieces of wires that can keep the batting in place! I don' t remember the name of it! Great job you guys! Blessing!
You are so lucky to have that view of the mountains. What a fantastic sight.
Good progress on the build, and glad to see Jeremy and the new horsie were ok with each other.
Love Manny, the ram. He’s so gentle… always with a smile on his face! 😉
I’m terrible at parting with horses. I live alone, had 3 great horses. A friend needed a good one and she was always riding one of mine. Finally after a year or so I gave one up with the agreement that he’d come back if he don’t work out. However, there’s nothing wrong with buying a horse thinking it’s the right one, then months or years later selling it for your and his benefit. My horse got way more attention at my friends place. Horses adapt. They make new friends. If the next one don’t work out you’ll do your best to find the right (or previous) home for it. That white one I can see comin home with us though. Lol
Love the vistas of your mountains, with the clouds moving over and past them; of your night skies and the stars. So glorious! Love the deer in this video too. We have deer here in our mountains (Appalachia) that we watch out over our pastures and fields around the house too, and they look just the same. So beautiful; thanks for sharing!
PS.... can you do a sort of 'foster-to-adopt' sort of arrangement with a horse, the way that it is done with shelter dogs and cats in some parts of the country? that might be helpful in finding good fit for your family if it's possible.
God bless you all! I loved the horse!🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️🤍💙🇺🇸🐣🐰🐕🐈⬛🐑🐎🚜
Way to go! I feed my little Haru (1 year old Boston Terrier) chopped chicken thighs, liver and hearts steamed in an Instant Pot, then mixed with blanched broccoli or a shredded cucumber (great in summertime) and brown rice. She loves it. Homemade dog food is so easy and nutritious! 👏🏾👍🏾🤩🐶
I had to chuckle over the sheep in your van because years ago hubby decided he wanted a couple of sheep. He had a friend that raised them and had quite a few. We got into our station wagon and drove over to see the sheep. Ninety minutes later he loaded 2 full size sheep into the back of the station wagon and brought them home. We already had a barn up behind our house so all we had to do was put a fence up. They were ver gentle with my son surprisingly.
❤️
I would think about what you want to plant in the garden. I would start to grow the seeds inside then tansfer them in the garden.
We're so happy to hear that Kenji is feeling better! 🐕 we were hoping that it was just a temporary upset stomach! 😊 😀
Great Video and those mountains look so Amazing. Think how far y’all have come. I couldn’t ever move from there because I would miss everything to much.
