  • Today we are making a quick approach into Brno Turany. Some traffic ahead of us and some gusty winds make this approach particularly interesting.

    Hi, thanks for the videos.
A question if I may, is 40° your preferred flap setting for a 'normal' landing?
Compared to my previous experience on a C42 I've noticed the Skylark comes in pretty flat with 20°.

Thanks for the comment! I prefer to come in with 40 degrees flap especially on shorter runways. If the conditions are a bit gusty however, I like to keep a bit more speed on final and stay on flaps 21. Also, it will depend how old are the skylarks you’ve flown: the modern ones like mine registered under ELSA have a higher MTOW of 600kg or 1320 lb. as opposed to the older models limited to 450kg. Lastly, you need to account for the different flight characteristics of a high wing vs. a low wing. 😊
