- Test flights by the 50" Farman F.60 Goliath, a rubber-powered free-flight model, built and designed by Vance Gilbert. These flights of a model with zero dihedral were the first for the fully framed version. The approach was inspired by the late, great Bill Hannan and his Boxy Bipe stick model. Film & photos by Tom Hallman, Chris Parent & Vance Gilbert. Music via Artist.io.

More art than scale modelling, thanks for all the inspiration!
So BIG, yet graceful in the air.
Always gobsmacked by your building skills. A true craftsman.
Such an iconic airplane.
The model looks superb!
As always a fantastic piece of aero modelling 👏🏼
It's such a beautiful aircraft! I love the aerodynamic fixes that can't be seen from a distance. Inspiring!
Beautiful work.
Wow,so beautifull, the way it is build and the way it flies, pure craftmanship, chapeaux!!
Blimey,i wish i was there,right now.
Thumbs up& thanks.
Your amazing building skills are only exceeded by your bravery and confidence in chucking a masterpiece like this into the air! Gorgeous.
Fantastic job.that looks like it may need a DT.
All I can say is WOW what a beautiful plane! Looks promising! Vance should be proud of this one. A very interesting plane!
Thanks for posting this! Vance, hats off to you! Well done! Simply amazing!

Nice work! I want to see more flying.
Great video, model and music. Congratulations on building a work of art that flies very well.
Beautiful! As always.
Fantastic! Go Vance!!
Stunning work
brilliant model 🙌
INCREDIBLE BUILD!
Beautiful model! Happy landings :)
Good stuff, Bubs.
Great work!
Master of the air!! how long did it take to make this, fantastic!
Those phugoid oscillations are pucker factor ten.
A beautiful job. 👏👏
I built an electric power version which I flew at Geneseo in 68 or 70. Was a bit marginal on power.
😍
Tom, can you tell us about how you get such great roll stability with no dihedral in this model? Beautiful work, as always.
Well first, it was built by Vance Gilbert, so perhaps he’ll respond. But as it did with the smaller version, the clear plastic “curtain” between each pair of struts are a key factor. Vance can tell u more I’m sure.
Looks like Vance Gilbert strikes again! If this is 1000 max, then I would've thought a huge field and a golf buggy or Tom's Amazing Recovery Bicycle would be sufficient, but you never know.. Til you DO know.
The transparent inter-strut vertical stabs are brilliant. The last 300 turn power glide was astonishing, I thought the thing had landed but no, Sir and she just went right on flyin', as I believe you folks say over The Pond.
Brilliance like this usually only comes from syndicated development, which is something of a New York thang, I mean I myself am lucky enough to have been taught a certain skill which itself is the product of just such a collaborative endeavour, and, in UK there is a resistance to this. I don't care, more relative expertise 4me, I am tired of listening to British experts, I just say "go and listen to AND LOOK AT any major US orchestra, enjoy your career/life..
Brilliant. Aeromodeling by syndicated development at its best. Can't wait to see this ratchet up the turns! 🌟👍
Stately flying manner. Very scale flying speed.
That's going to need a DT.......
You guys could make a house brick fly!
The framework is exquisite, shame to cover it up. No dihedral?
Lovely biplane. Is Vance building it? Can i trouble you to tell me what the song is called? My wife loves it.
Yes, Vance has built and flown it. The tune is called The Colors Began to Fade by Ido Kashi. czcams.com/video/abuh0pRfC_8/video.html
Do all three propellers actually provide power?
No, only the 14” job in the center. The other two freewheel.
You engineered these plans?
Big and beautiful sweet
Molto bello e realistico!
