  • The sea cucumbers has been banned by the Fijian government for selling. Some people say it has been banned for 3 years and some says for 5 years. On the 1st of July 2022 the Fijian government made it legal to harvest and sell sea cucumbers in the whole of July only. This video is documenting a village entrepreneurs process in how to harvest the sea cucumber and the process of selling the sea cucumbers in order to make a living in the village.

    License to sell sea cucumber? So riduculous! Its already difficult for villagers to get it onto the mainland to sell it ... maybe license to those who buy it off them such as businesses/middleman but should not be applied to those who initially catch and sell them like villagers. Great videos btw!

The expectation that's left behind with your families at the village, that scary boat ride...until towards the end. Man, I could feel you bro. The Governments system here is all for a show. Bro how long did the boat trip take to the mainland? Must have been hell of a ride lol. I am from mainland Papua New Guinea and can only imagine the difficulties our coastal and island communities go through. Sea cucumber fishery in PNG is controlled by a moratorium which was uplifted in 2017 for only 2 months but not sure if there was another ban again after that. Your videos are an original portrayal of authentic village lifestyle in most island communities a kudos to you for that. Keep em coming.

    These guys from the village are not commercial fisherman. So they should be given the right to sell via fishing license because of the small scale of their catch unless of course it's endangered species , it's big time red flag by the fisheries department . This so called Fisheries department needs to be audited. Choose your govt right guys , don't vote for them. Pass the word out quick to as much village as possible and let them all know. There full of shit. 🙁

      @@uraiatabua Yeah I understand my brother but in my books , what there doing so far is called " Vote Buying" indirectly regardless of what they say. All the good they have done so far is typically known as vote buying but there doing it smart. Unfortunately for them loopholes such as this is evident of their sneaky practices. This is how economies fall. It proves that there corrupt persons running the show. Money don't run economies, people do. Without those world bank loans, there nothing because of that mindset of money and not people. That's how Sir Lanka fell and a few in the pipeline to fall as well . That's how a decade back Latin American countries fell from Mexico to Brazil. All money invested schemes from oil to the lot down the gurgle. The US currencies are all on borrowed time and what those dumb politicians do? Borrow more instead of focusing on it's people and helping them be resourceful and improvising strategies with alternatives as an exit strategy just in case Fiji's economy falls. This kerekere business should have been long gone when I first hinted online couple decades back about Singapore as reference to how the Fijian economy should run but now the dynamics of things have changed and Fiji needs to counter it with smart strategies. Obliviously in Fiji , Fiji first means money first , didn't you know? Their works speaks louder than words. The iTaukei board needs to be smart from now on. Increase all land lease prices to match inflation prices, period. They must and should do it and it's within their rights to stay above water. ( Metaphor) Vinaka. p.s Keep an eye on that election office. Big time red flag. Law within itself to control and win. Needs to be audited. The end result of their strategies speaks louder than words. More people struggling and being poor while investors go in on a feeding spree of it's investor friendly laws. So in the meantime, we'll watch those bigotries parade on red carpet with no exit strategies in place. There oblivious to what's ahead. My technical analysis says, when the US reserves stop printing money, that attorney general needs prove how his sustainable debt will service the future. People move the economy not his dumb sustainable debt. Meaning start talking now about exit strategies for future sakes. If there's none than it's proves the lack of tech analysis from the attorneys end. He's full of shit because he's talking about past event's to add point's to his narrative that is irrelevant to Fiji's current situation and it's future. He's a disgrace to Fiji as a whole because technically, he's abusing their intelligence. Don't fall for it. He's some valid points but he's using it smartly to make a point that is irrelevant to fiji's future. My point is their future plan analysis will flip when the US dollar is gone and so will they.

    • @uraiatabua
      @uraiatabua  Před rokem +5

      The destination is suva and we live in moturiki Island in lomaiviti. Weather like that it takes about 2 hours to reach the mainland then maybe 1.30 hour to reach suva and we have to take the same trip back on the same Day. We are “lucky” that our Island is “close” to the mainland. I feel bad for others that came all the Way from the outter islands. I heard some stories that they faced the same thing when they came to sell. Its a real shame.

    To make matters worse, it was their fault 🤬 for giving our residents of the Village false information. Despite this, officers ought to be able to act swiftly in this case. On many levels, this is obscene and absurd. This licensing stuff is overkill. Who will cover the cost of their fuel? Always present an option in this situation, and if possible, Ministry of Fisheries, give your personnel the authority to assist our people in situations like these 😒......Whatever the case, I truly like viewing your videos since they're interesting, instructive, and they provide me a better understanding of village life. So when I see our people making sales, I want to spend more money 💙

Stop the morning tea time and useful meeting you have and get the system streamlined and easily accessible for the people to use. You only do one thing and cant even do it right. Time to earn the tax payers dollars that's paying for your salaries or go find another job.
