- Its school break in Fiji so some of Aunty Los grandkids came to the village to spend their school break, Christmas and New Year in the village. They live with us as our house is the family house.
This morning my cousin Merelita decided to make Fijian donuts for breakfast because it is the favourite breakfast in the house hold especially when Aunty Los kids are here.
Merelita takes us through the process of how to make the Fijian donut and we also get the kids review on the Fijian donut.

Nice to see this! I'm guessing there was some sugar in the dough as well. One idea to experiment is to put a little cardamom seeds and small cinnamon stick in a coffee grinder and powder them. Then add some of that powder into the flour when preparing the donut batter... with sugar of course. Also since you all like the icing sugar on top of the donut, try making a sugar paste/slurry... for that you would simply mix icing sugar in some warm water and dissolve and keep adding until a paste like consistency is achieved.. then with a spatula or brush paint the slurry over each donut... if you add some food coloring in the slurry.. kids might find it fun too! You would need to paint a thin layer of slurry only on each donut... avoid a thick coating. Not sure if you still get Milo in Fiji... but you could make slurry with some icing sugar and warm water with that too. Just some things to experiment with the kids 😄 To make the donut fluffy, perhaps use baking powder as well.
He might get all of that on his next trip to Suva on the mainland, and the closest thing to a coffee grinder would be a pestle and mortar which is always available in all Fijian kitchens especially in Moturiki Island ☺

@@jackahloo2106 Uraia made a video about it when they did the before Christmas clean up at the plantation in which they explain the different types of kava and its distinct effects on our body when drunk. Therefore the mainlands have various varities of kava planted and sold in marketing😁
