    Best method, ever. I was struggling until I saw this vid & realized that prying down a little on the spacer tube is pure genius!

    I wish I'd seen your video a few weeks ago, I ended up welding the replaceable screw in end piece on my Slide hammer to get the first side out.
    I couldn't get a bite on the inside lip of the bearing on either side.
    Great video! 👍

      Thanks! Yeah it’s a pain. Welding and pulling is a good strategy though. 😆 Whatever works!! Can also cut/ chisel the bearing races out if the bearing blows apart I guess but I never tried that, haven’t had to resort to that yet. LOL

    Thanks this method really works well

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 3 lety

      No prob! Yeah the only issue I can think of is if you pop the center of the bearing out and the outer race is stuck in the wheel but then you could cut it with a dremel or something.. Happens a lot with heat tube stem bearings I guess.

    My inner tube didnt have the washers on it. It had 2 rubber o rings do i need those washers when putting back in?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Yup some of mine had o-rings instead of the plastic washers/ spacers on the internal spacer tube. You want to leave them on so tube doesn't fall down and make it hard to install axle. They don't do anything once the axle is installed. But when installing bearings it keeps that tube in place too.

    What does that shaft between the bearings do? I forgot to put mine in after I put the new bearings in and dont want to ruin the new bearings trying to take them out.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah you will most likely wreck bearings when you pop them out, even if they look ok, I'd replace them after you remove them. And yeah that spacer tube is pretty important, it allows you to torque down the axle nut enough to keep everything tight without destroying the inner bearing race. Without it, the bearings are getting loads put on them laterally that they weren't designed to handle and they'll probably fail.
      I did the same thing once.. Popped out one bearing, installed the tube and replaced the bearing I popped out. The bearings are pretty cheap so no big deal really.

  • @katherine5382
    @katherine5382 Před 3 lety +1

    You seem to know a lot about the mini bikes. I have a problem with mine. The back wheel locked up after we replaced the tire, any idea what it could be?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi. It's hard to tell without seeing it in person but my first guess would be brake adjustment, second guess bearings. But the wheel would probably still spin if it was bearing, it might just be wobbly or not smooth.
      So probably brake adjustment is too tight. I suppose if someone over-tightened the axle nut enough it could smash bearings together to the point they locked up but that's unlikely.

    I blew the wheel bearing out but the race was left. Any ideas?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah you can grind a notch in it and pry it out. Won’t hurt wheel too bad if you nick the wheel axle where it holds the bearing.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před rokem

      Hi, that’s a good question!😆 It’s just been around the house forever I think. I’m not even sure if that’s considered a chisel or what. I’m talking about that big one. That smaller kit is from Harbor Freight or something but from a several years ago.

    I need help with a race that decided to stay in when the rest of the bearing disintegrated........

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před rokem +1

      You can grind a perpendicular notch in race with a dremel or something, and bang it out with screwdriver. Might damage surface bearing eace sits in but that doesn’t really hurt anything, new bearing will still work. Mayne add some penetrating lube and heat too.

    • @bwxmoto

    Bite to remove

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 2 lety

      Yeah sometimes best thing to do is get a hack saw blade and a chisel or something and cut them out carefully. You might ding up wheel hub but it probably won't affect anything if it's just a little nick in the metal.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 2 lety

      Or maybe applying some heat to the hub would expand it a little, enough to get the thing out if you can catch an edge from the other side with punch or something.

      *What are drive punches used for?*
      For driving out damaged rivets, bolts and pins that are bound up in holes
      For driving out damaged rivets, bolts and pins that are bound up in holes, you should use the drive punch. The drive punch has a flat face instead of a point. The width of its face defines this type of punch, for example, 1/8-in or 1/4-in.
