    * I made a better video. * • How to Change Your Oil... *
    I would suggest using Full synthetic SAE 10w30 4 cycle engine oil. I just use the cheapest full synthetic I can find. Not needed to use motorcycle or special lawn equipment oil! Just change it often, that is the most important thing, as there is no oil filter. Capacity is .63qt. (.6L). A little over half of a quart bottle.

    Good vid and congrats on the number of views. I use a large pan. After the drip slows to a stop I grab the brake and wheelie the bike up to get all the oil out. In the front of the block there is a valley where extra oil sits. I think it's worth it to get it out.

      Haha, thanks man. Funny how the algorithm liked this video! 🤷‍♂️ I have an oil catch pan now but last time I used it on my big road bike the flow overwhelm the hole and it started bubbling up and splashed oil all over my exhaust. @@bwxmoto BTW. I called monsterscooter parts today and they said the 60 tooths may be coming in by the end of this month. I preordered back in June. I wonder when they will turn on the orders through Amazon. With shipping my order is $28. Seems everywhere else a 60 tooth is $40+.

      Yeah when they were on Amazon they were about $20 with free shipping! That's how I bought all mine. First one was black, second two silver/ gray. But given the scarcity I'd pay $30 no problem, who knows how ling the stock will last. Probably not long with pent up demand! I have one waiting to go on my 2nd CT200U-EX eventually.

    how long should i keep my oil in before changing it

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 5 lety +1

      The first oil change I would say 1/2 hour or so running, then change it since engine is breaking in. After that I would change it quite often since there is no oil filter, and use synthetic oil. 10w-30 is fine unless you are running in very cold temperatures then 20w-30. If running in extremely hot temps over 100F maybe 15w-40 or 15w-50.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 3 lety +1

      I guess it's about 0.6 quarts but you fill it till it's full basically. Till the level comes up to the opening. And change it often. Maybe every 10 hours of running? Not sure. I just change it a couple times a summer if I ride quite a bit.

      Reece McKee I got a #41 chain. I think #420 chain will work fine too. Also could use spacers.
      I think I ordered the wrong CVT but not sure. Looking back it was only described as working with a #41 chain. Probably had more to do with spacers provided with torque converter than the torque converter itself.

    How often should I change my mini bikes oil?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 3 lety

      I'd use synthetic, that'll last a little longer, but that's a hard question to answer. I think it depends on how hard you ride it. Just putting around is different than full throttle constantly on a 100 degree day in the dust..
      If you ride a lot, I'd say one a month. If you hardly ever ride it, once a year. All depends. If it's been a while and you've been riding it a lot, change it. More the better with these but don't have to after every ride or anything like that.

    • @bwxmoto

      I think it's a 10mm and 13mm. Can't remember, I had those dual wrenches that are both metric and SAE in the vid and I said 3/8" in vid for the drain plug so that's probably a 10mm. Can hold the drain extension with pliers, but I think it's 13mm.

      Ethanol free only. And the only ethanol free I can get is 90 octane so I run that. But all my minibikes are stock compression so I’d run 87 if I could. Only need higher octane if compression ratio is higher than 10:1. These are like 9:1 or something like that. My road bike is 13.5:1, so need high test in that for example. But I run 90 e-free in that for winter storage.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Před 3 lety

      Yeah you really should get some ethanol free gas and only use that with these engines. It'll save the carburetors. I'd still turn gas to OFF position and let the bike idle until it quits if you do not plan on riding it for a while. And siphon old gas out and put in a full fresh tank of ethanol free. Don't just mix new gas with old gas. Start the bike up and let it warm up once a month. All my 4 minibikes are still running strong doing that. You can get a new carb on ebay/ amazon for $7 but it's a little bit of a job to install but not bad at all. Then it'll run like new again if your old carb is too messed up. Can clean them but for $7? Just change it out. Still can clean out dirty one and use it as a spare or if your new one gets clogged up.

      LOL.. yeah the thing is though, you just fill it up to the top of the threads on the filler opening. You can't really over-fill it. So you don't really need to know how much it takes unless you don't have enough to do the oil change, but most people would have at least 1qt of oil to do the change. But it's good to know I guess.

    Terrible camera work
    No narration during
    No explanations
    No idea what side of the bike he's on
    No idea what size wrench hes using
    No idea what kind of oil he uses. If I'm going to look behind the eyes of some guy changing the oil I would love some more talking and explaining about what he's doing what size wrench what kind of oil where these parts of the engine are located what side of the bike is he on etc. Extremely unhelpful video.

      Read the description. I can't help what videos youtube push on people. This vid does have problems but it's not that bad, so I left it up.
