  • In this video I go over the signs you will see before you get the P0507 error, as well as what some of the signs and symptoms are after the error pops up. I also show how to diagnose the crankcase ventilation valve. On this model it is not called the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, it is simply called the crankcase ventilation valve.

Raul. Thanks for your videos. I was at a loss for my R36 passat 2010. Watched this video and realised after doing exact checks you showed with blocking the breather hose and trying to take oil cap off the suction was insane. Booked in to get fixed and as mine has done 260,000 ( still runs like a dream on road conditions ) in your video you replaced intake gaskets while apart and watched your video on how to do. Looked actually easier than expected but as i don’t have all required tools and time😂 got a reputable shop to do. They busy so 5 week wait but i can handle that. Thank again mate from Melbourne Australia🇦🇺. It is always better to walk into a shop with some idea of the issue. Subscribed to your channel after watching last night👑

Just a big shout out and a thanks! 2014 v6 vw cc 4motion just pulled in the garage and started having same issue. used my odbII scanner and got the code. Now I just gotta price the repair at my dealer vs. my independent shop. Not the best diy capable here.

Came across your videos as I have been doing research for my 2012 3.6 V6 SE Passat. It's really hard to come across any information out there about the car. Thanks for posting your videos on the work you do. I'm dealing with a cylinder 4 misfire now. I replaced all coils and plugs and still having the misfire. I brought it to a mechanic and he's seeing low compression in the cylinder. I'm hoping I don't have a big problem.

@@Dirtymcdonalds Unfortunately I was told I needed a new engine. He did a leakdown test on the problematic cylinder and it didn't hold pressure. He also put a scope in the cylinder and could see some abrasions on the wall. Most likely I had a broken piston ring. The cost of an engine was more than what the car was worth. I wound up selling the car. I really loved that car.

This is probably the closest video that the symptoms on my 2012 passat can relate to. I have noticed that at cold start the rpm near 2000 and goes down after a couple of seconds. I have listened to the engine and I would hear loud air flow coming from somewhere and then a sound like a valve closing and the idle would go down. Plus when driving i would have intermittent idle stuck at 1000 rpm when stopping

I replaced both valve cover gasket and the valve cover itself. It started fine. I drove it like 3 miles and parked it and rpm went way up and it started with p0507 p2189 p2187 but I took the lower intake manifold gasket off and see it wasn't seated right the other codes 2189 2187 went away but the p0507 is still there.. hopefully it needs to only relearn. And not a faulty valve cover itself.
    Any idea's?

Nice video! Just found you in my scrolling.
I got a question - This is really shot in the dark - I have a ‘13 2.5 SE (5 Cyl.). I don’t have the fluctuating RPM but a very unpredictable climb in RPM (gradually climbs to 10k RPM). Either a couple minutes after start up or any random time standing at a red light. If I take my foot off the brake, there’s enough rev to easily roll away. As far as I know (from the dealer), no codes to indicate a problem. VW Tech replaced the throttle body but the issue persists. No telling when it’ll happen. Other times, the car idles at its normal 6.5~7.5k RPM (you forget the engine is on, she’s so smooth and quiet). Have you or your audience ever experienced this? Any suggestion is appreciated.

@@raulsd.i.y.videos5585 from my understanding there is the little diaphragm that goes in the PCV valve ( inside the valve cover) for like 20 bucks now. Still have the labor, dyi or at cost, to get to the valve cover. Cheaper than 500-600 part from dealer though.
