  • Go through one of the possible causes for high idle RPM on a Northstar engine. specifically 2005 Cadillac DeVille. At the end of repair be sure to disconnect your battery to reset computer. Otherwise there's a chance your car may not shift properly. My car at Time of Repair has 154,000 miles

    Hi. I realize this video is spot on for the high idle problems. My question is, about the red oring, @2:07 , is the 0ring in the correct place? I put the ,03 Deville, 0ring back farther towards the mounting flange . Still fast idle. My old one was black and dried out alot. I did the battery disconnect 2 times. I am thinking I didn't put it together right. What do you think please?

    So I just changed thermostat on 2000 Chevy Malibu,drained, flushed, and bled air from coolant system, and as soon as I finished....I know that I inadvertent caused another problem ...(and solved overheating and blowing cold air problem)I got a check engine light with a po507...but, idle would go too low....almost stall....I figure it will probably be that gasket on air intake that fell apart when getting to thermostat...I hope anyway...if not I will go to the valve and keep the spindle in and out thing in mind along with the battery negative cable removed..thanks for the info

    Ok so I've been having idling problems. I bought idle control sensor it was bad I exchanged it for another and guess what it was bad too. So I put the 3rd one on but it didn't help. Now my car stays idled so high it's hard to get it stop and when I let my foot off the break my car will take off shifting up till over drive. I'm also have transmission problems that I just learned could be from the high rpms. It is hard shifting when it decides to shift. Also slipping in and out of gear when in overdrive. Please help!

      Maybe try tapping on the (phillips) screw driver end while turning it, making it act as an "impact wrench". This is useful for getting off really tight screws.

    Okay hear this. Maybe you have some advice. I have a 2004 Cadillac deville. 1. It self accelerates. Not by much but still. 2. I absolutely cannot have the MAF sensor plugged it. If it is plugged in, it tries to kill my car. 3. It’s been doing the rpm ramping forever. Only recently is it getting worse. So I bought this part. Now I’m curious to know if after I replace it, my car will start to need the MAF sensor to be plugged in. 🤔

    • @jamesc.3524
      @jamesc.3524  Před 11 měsíci

      I wouldn't think so. See if fixing to idle air control solves your problem. If it does, then plug in the MAF sensor and see what happens.
