I'm surprised no one seemed to know about what happened at Donner Pass. I thought that story was known to every American -- well, up till current, know-nothing times.
Always are amazed that famous people weren’t recognized right away!
Great
Who knew back in Feb. 1963 that guest panelist Merriman Smith would be a witness to President Kennedy being shot in Dallas, and that he would win a Pulitzer for covering that tragedy?
Right - just a little over 9 months after this program aired.
Or that he would commit suicide just over 7 years after this episode was broadcast.
No one, obviously.
Rod Laver is no doubt one of the best tennis players to ever live.
I never heard of Merriman Smith.
Then you are likely under 55
Me either and I AM over 65 yrs old!
Mr. Laver born August 9, 1938 is 85 years old as of August 2023. Still with us.
I wonder how that family got by financially while they were on that trip.
They didn't need money. They ate fish and game.
If I’d been the covered wagon guy I would have asked Robert Horton along as scout.
Who doesn't know about the Donner Party? I don't think it's a secret that came out since 1963.
That is not a Conestoga wagon
All three of these were obvious - the panel didn't have to work too hard on this episode LOL
'Obvious' might be a stretch, but then again I'm terrible at guessing the right contestant. The only one I was sure of in this episode was Rod Laver, because I remember what he looked like.
Always are amazed that famous athletes are. Not regoniz
And I'm amazed by people who can't write a simple sentence. : )
Gillis family made it to EUROPE!
Daniel Boone?
A famous early American frontiersman whose exploits became folklore.
It seems at the end they would have only the ‘real’ people, rather than all of the contestants. The panel would have more interest in talking to the real ones, but would have to spread themselves thin so as not to ignore the imposters.
A famous Australian tennis player. Had a tennis centre named after him. Im sure I know which one it is without googling lol. Im Australian. If Im wrong, shame on me 😅
Was right.!
Cass is like your most annoying gossipy neighbor lady with too much time on her hands. Fatuous presentation.
Gosh Peggy looks heavy in this episode. That's not meant to be critical, just an observation. Particularly noticeable in the two side views of the panel.
Peggy Cass is one of the most annoying panelists on any game show.
Man #2 in Game #1
Lady #1 in Game #2
Man #3 in Game #3
I guess that means the parents didn't have sex during the entire trip.
With six kids maybe they figured that done enough of that!!!
Poston tried too hard to be funny.
