I'm not even an actress, I'm just a freelance event person, and *I* know a day rate is for whatever amount of hours you show up. Even if it's two. People I work with have day rates SPECIFICALLY to cover them showing up and blocking off a whole day when they don't know how long the day is but it might be under 8 hours. There's no such thing in ANY industry as a "half-day" rate when you've already established a day rate. That's what a day rate *is*. It's not like you could have booked another job for the afternoon, you know? It's the whole day even if it's not the whole day. Other film people (incl your manager) should absoLUTELY be familiar with this concept. OMG. Fuming for you.

I thought you and DVG did a fantastic job of maintaining the core of your characters, while also seeming more mature/comfortable. Also, subtle that you see the influence of one on the other (Darcy makes some jokes, Lizzie is a touch more serious). It is a tribute to you two, and Kate, that these episodes play as a delightful revisiting of the series and not merely promotional material. Still a pleasure even 9 years later
I somehow missed the whole book thing and saw these promo vids years later. Then one magical day I found it at a half price bookstore, read it and rewatched the whole series happily.
I already really like you as an actress (discovered you from Charlotte Brontë!) and this is just fueling that (along with my fury at your horrible treatment). Also, love how you pronounced my name correctly! I'm not the Camille from the video but it's incredibly refreshing to hear it said the right way.
The video didn’t influence me to get the book, but ironically this rewatch project did. I got the audiobook because 1) I needed to multi task as I read it and 2) I knew Ashley’s voice would be the voice in my head as I read it, so I just went with it.
I enjoyed the small changes and actually went on to listen to Lydia’s book as well and was so happy for the closure she got over there.
I didn't read the Lydia book till this series and I was glad I found a copy, I also enjoyed it!
Well what do you know! I just picked up my library hold of the Secret Diary today! Glad to know that method has your seal of approval.
This is my first time watching a LBD video the day it comes out! I only discovered the series back in March/April, I’ve watched the whole thing though several times, reread P&P, read the Secret Diary, have been binging the Look Back and realized a couple of days ago that Ashley wasn’t done with the epilogues, and there was an episode to look forward to. It’s wired to catch up to the community in real time, now almost at the end of the road.

I recall a more-than-healthy amount of fanfic exploring what might have happened had Darcy and/or Lizzie tweaked their initial behaviour. It's not impossible that I discovered AO3 that way, although I might have already been reading Middle-earth fanfic there, it's a very long time ago and my memory is ridiculously leaky ;-)

Looking at that Twitter q&a and seeing names of friends is such a trip. I can't believe I've been friends with some of them for 10 years!
I excitedly watched these when they came out, and I don't remember catching that it was an advertisement for the book 😅 I think I genuinely thought it was a "let's give the fans an update and some cuteness for funsies." A year or two later I did get the book from the library though, and I remember enjoying it! I should see if I can get it as an ebook or audiobook and reread it.
I mean, I was going to buy the book no matter what; these videos truly were a bonus :) I’m so sorry for how They treated you and the rest of the cast. I appreciate even more greatly all the work y’all did on the series.
I bought the Kindle version of the book and listened to the audiobook on a flight to the UK where we visited the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. (Also saw The Mousetrap and Shakespeare in Love on consecutive days in London. And visited Stonehenge. And saw Monty Python Live. And the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff. Quite the trip.)

I was definitely influenced - there's a comment under that second bonus episode from me saying "can't wait to read the book" 😂 But it didn't feel like an ad which is props to Kate, you and DVG! I'm also sorry to hear how they came up with the 'half-day rate' excuse. It feels so brazen!
My cat is also unphased by earthquakes. Sometimes he will react before we feel it and we don't know what he's reacting to until the shaking happens, but hos reaction is just like stopping what he's doing and looking up and then going back to what he was doing.

I started watching LBD in November last year so I am quite new to the fandom, but I wanted it all, so here I am since December watching your videos Ashley, and yes, I got the book too! (birthday gift to myself because what's better than more LBD content?)
I did get the book!m back then! At the start of this rewatch series I was afraid it had been a Kickstarter perk and any potential access would be gone forever - only to discover it at the bottom of my bookshelf. I re-read it after the last episode, because I also wasn't ready to say goodbye to the characters.
I still don’t understand how 1/2 million was spent… I would be curious to buy the financial reports of Pemberley…

I am a little surpised that lizzie still calls darcy darcy? was this ever adressed? also i know this is old news but WOW you and dvg really just do such a good job with your chemistry
In my head she always did, that’s what everyone in his life except Gigi calls him. I found the tweets from the party where she refers to him as William weird.
I don’t think I caught it at the time (or I would have said something and changed it.) But it is incongruous with the end of the series. I think we were all just used to thinking of him as Darcy and no one remembered that we’d established her calling him William once they were together 🤷♀️
@@TheAshleyClements I have a distinct memory of trying to write a fanfic about Darcy's thoughts flying to see Lizzie after leaving Chicago and I couldn't get my head around calling him William but I thought I thought it would be weird if he called himself Darcy so I just... didn't write the fanfic. So everyone else was right there with you.
