    Jump I is a huge upgrade! I'm in early Chapter 4 now and I've noticed it's a massive boost to mobility! For a while I've been considering trying to recruit some hawkmen to Clerics and Rune Fencers, but after upgrading to Jump I equipment it's not such a big deal anymore.
    I mean, flying is still better obviously, but at least as far as mobility is concerned, Jump I is like 80-90% of the way there on most maps. And hawkmen can't be Knights (among other things).
    New commenter here BTW. I'm completely new to the series, someone got me Tactics Ogre Reborn for Christmas and I'm super hooked. This is a fantastic game and you've got great information here for it - it's much appreciated!

    With the damage formulas released, Shrine recipes take a very different tone.
    Dragon Dagger is gigantic. Counter bow+Dragon dagger to get a more flexible poison spreader. Dragon dagger as the mainhand spellcasting weapon to take advantage of that 15% element bonus, plus free poison cloud on a caster. Double dagger for the least weighty way to force dragonslayer on someone. Counter bow+Dragon dagger for dragonslayer bow user. Dragon dagger+Damasc dagger for poison/stun.

  • @Shin_Lona

    Off topic, but I just discovered something that may be a useful tip / QoL improvement for players.
    When you get your arcana (spells) it goes into what is essentially your inventory based on acquisition. In other words, they are in the order you found them in. While you are in the selection window where you actually equip spells, if you press - well, on PS it's the triangle button, not sure what it would be for PC or whatever else - but it will bring up a menu which has a Sort option. If you go into that menu you have further options on how to sort your spells. If you just back out it will arrange everything by element, which may be the Default option. There is also an option to only show the spells that are available to that class.
    This isn't a hidden feature or anything, and for all I know it may have even been in those tutorials in the Warren Report. Regardless, if you were scrolling through your entire inventory of spells everytime you needed to switch something out like I had been doing for the whole jeezless game... It's a definite improvement.😆

    33:50 For the weapons element to add its % of elemental damage, you must be using a spell that is strong against the enemy and must be using a one handed weapon and something else in the off-hand. It is clearly written in the damage calculations page you showed earlier. I did some test and it works however, I could not get Dark vs Light to work.

    Hi Coffee,
    Thanks for this video. Too bad most crafting recipes are in PotD (or late game dungeons).
    Swiftfoot and siege is a great combo for some boss battles. I usually recycle those white underpants for lower RT. As for finishers, Dagger's first finisher is the cheapest early game nuke, imo. Oh right, my own notes about crafted equipment:
    -Better equipment is heavier. Usually WT, sometimes action RT too. So if you're ready to spec into pure debuffs in postgame, switching to the old light gear can make you significantly faster. You'll really feel the difference once relics weigh you down and stats start to overtake flat gear atk.
    -Plain gerges blowgun has phenomenally low weight and RT. That makes it really good with ninja ailments or blowgun finisher ailments.
    -Crafted Instruments are heavier with a slight boost in ATK. Since only relic Instruments have enough ATK to be worth hitting people with, crafted instruments are objectively worse in every scenario.
    -Guns are so sad. They couldn't just make a better rimfire? You already put ancient legendary guns in an island that's never seen guns before, but you can't make a postgame handgun? Fusiliers are being done dirty here.

    Excellent thanks
    On a tangential Question.
    Im finally on chapter 4, at starting heim.
    just a question about returning to early chapters for neutral and chaos path in my case.
    What happens to POTD and the apocrypha ruins, Should I clear them before Finishing heim so they get some sort of "finished Flag" or do they reset if you go back to another "timeline path"
    or should / what happens if you do them in Coda..
    thans mr potato.

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Před rokem +3

      You can go back and reset the timeline pretty easily if you mess up, but technically the "optimal" approach is clearing temples and killing Nybbeth on floor 100 before Heim. That said, it's easier to do after chapter 4, and you unlock a skip for most of the Finale after completing it. The temples are worth doing for the crafting books, but POTD can honestly be done later without missing much. You can get the unique crafting book from any version of floor 100, and it's just the Ogre Items and Firecrest in the special version...which honestly are such a long experience that you might as well save them for when your team can farm POTD items automatically in industrial quantities. I'd say ....do temples, do Coda 1, San Bronsa as far as you reasonably can to get a taste for end game difficulty, and see how you're feeling. While you may feel like there's a grind to do, the big power spikes always come from just making sure you have the right tools on hand, and those crafting books will give you a ton of them. Those early POTD flight items also don't hurt.

I went into POTD at 36 when the union level max was 40. I auto battled to about floor 60 of POTD, then enemies start scaling higher and it got way too slow so i backed out. but I got a lot of stuff very easily that helped in the endgame story battles as well as San Bronsa. I used an army of griffons to auto battle POTD at first

    You know, at 13:05 I wouldn't have realized that elemental resistances were as janky as they are. I was working under the assumption that 10 earth mean 10 resistance against earth element, not 10% earth element (which then resists lightning). That feels very counter intuitive and a little confusing for new players who haven't engrained the elemental wheel in their memories yet. I was thinking the same thing about the elemental coloring on the hp bars, I sort of just wished they put the little element as a symbol next to the bar or something, but I am slowly learning.
    That same sort of weirdness also plays into the "right hand equip" being what determines the resistance on your armor. To me, it doesn't make sense that my chest armor only gives me protection against the weapon type I myself am wielding, but that seems to be a function of the game that seems entirely inexplainable from a "why did they add this complexity" point of view. I know it's minor, but it feels janky to have a remaster title with nonsensical math calculations, even if it is somehow true to the older experience.
    I am loving the game, and I have found your videos explaining things extremely helpful for a lot of these counter intuitive situations. Just looking at armor as a concept and realizing that "bigger base armor number" is not always better is a bit of a game changer from most rpg's.

    I noticed Dragoons lost the ability to use spells now. I wished they've given them something in exchange for that. For example, the slayer skills having a 100% chance hit regardless if the target is a dragon or not. Since warrior cant use spears, they would be useful spear units that apply breach/poison on potentially two adjacent targets using voucher and the poison spear even on no beast/dragon maps.

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Warriors can give them that. Vigorous will guaranteed hit/secondary/noparry. Dragoons are good as hard counters, but their unique gear access gives them really good elemental coverage without giving up armor or safety. If you wanted to use a dragoon as just a spear guy, that would still work. Just like how Warriors don't have a ranged skill, but can still pull wacky numbers through Shortbow coverage.
      Bear in mind that open weapon loadout comes with tons of racial bonuses on various weapons. They're one of those that can also want to swap around Loadouts to suit their situation. It's why the thumbnail for Know Your Unit Dragoon was just a guy wearing a whole arsenal on his back.

    At 20:00, you say that earrings which grant weapon Skill Bonuses increase your ability to do damage with those weapons. If a necklace which grants the dagger Skill Bonus a value of +20, does that increase beyond the character's maximum skill level with daggers? E.g. if a character is maxed out at level 40 for daggers, does the necklace for +20 dagger Skill Bonus bump their dagger skill level up to 60?

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Před rokem +1

      Yup, the max effective cap for the bomb boost is 90. That's with a necklace and a HG weapon. Presumably that cap is to make sure there wasn't actually a double Yama meta. (This was assumed to be a thing, but supposedly was disproven in testing.)

    Jump/Swiftfoot II are so wasted. You absolutely should get those earlier, and make more sidegrades.
    Sidenote for people thinking about difficulty: 99% of enemies use unupgraded gear. That means no jump/swiftfoot. That's a flat mobility advantage for the player in most any map, and you should definitely keep that in mind for the Tactics part of Tactics Ogre.

    Odd talking about cost when you get blow guns so early and then have unlimited cash. End game expensive makes sense, it's not about cash.
    Mixed feelings on poison. While it's potential damage is high, rounds aren't turns, and duration can be lacklustre at times. In many cases it's better to alpha units off the field so they are out of the way. In challenge runs the value jumps considerably. Breach is absurdly good always.

    • @benedict6962

      Poison pairs very well with Frighten, but not on the same unit. People go off on Frighten's killing potential, but its ability to shut down enemy damage is nothing to scoff at. Without balmy breeze and only dragons with aoe weaken/spoilspell, lament is a very effective tank move by just inflicting frighten on a group of enemies. When they deal less damage, poison has a much better stage to shine as hp bloats and attacks rise in RT cost.
