  • In today's How to Paint Necrons tutorial, I'm going to show you How To Paint Necron Vehicles with a traditional paint scheme. I could call this video a How to Paint Necron Doom Scythe as that is what I am painting, but the technique can be applied to Painting Necron Vehicles in general.

    That was awesome ... near the beginning after you'd drybrushed the main hull area the center mass looked like brushed aluminium ... really liked that effect ... why do you choose to drybrush the black weapon casings rather than just do an edge highlight? ...

      @IDICBeer  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks mate, when I first started painting the army all those years ago, I wanted really black guns and tbh I didn't know about edge highlighting back then, so I just dry brushed them. I'm sticking to that so the army all looks the same

    Lots of questions: a)To spray did you use GW Chaos black or a can from Halfords ? b) Also with your dry brush do you think that a flat head is better than a round head for the bristles (some people cut their dry brush) ? c) with your dry bush, do you apply a tiny bit of dampness with water before you dip it into the paint and then wipe off the excess ?? d) what do you think about Duncan Rhodes video where he recommends to do some light drybrushing with Caliban Green around the edges of the vehicle from the edge and roughly 1cm into the main body of the vehicle after painting the base (he does this with an Abaddon black base) ?

    • @IDICBeer
      @IDICBeer  Před 4 lety +1

      a) I always use GW Chaos Black spray, unless it is for terrain, then I use the cheap stuff. b) I have used both and prefer a round head, especially on larger surfaces c) No water at all on the brush, I have tried the damp sponge Artis Opus supply, but didn't get on with it, having said than, the more dry brushing you do in one session with the same brush the more 'wet' the brush get from the paint itself. d) I don't watch his videos anymore and haven't seen that one, sorry

    I know this is a bit older of a video, and I thank you for putting it out. I did have a question from your time with a wet pallet. I recently bought my first one and one of the things the person that sold it to me told me about it was to NEVER put metallic paints in it. She said that over time the lil metal shards bleed though the paper and can contaminate your other paints and get logged in the sponge.
    Is this true? (I ask because I havent open the pallet yet and I can return it)

    • @IDICBeer
      @IDICBeer  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi fella, I have never heard of that or had any problems with it, but then my wet pallet is quite small so I change the water/paper quite often. I do know it is best to use a different water cup to thin the metal paint and to wash the brush out, otherwise if you use the same water as your normal colours the metal particles will contaminate the normal paint, but never had an issue with the wet pallet that way
