@Lion Mane Like almost any movie swordfight, it was designed with entertainment in mind. Kind of ruins it for us who like realism, up to a point, to where we have to put it aside with the understanding that entertaining is what they are after. I prefer more realistic swordfights myself.

Seriously, the one in black pearl between will and Jack is so wonderfully executed, who cares how realistic it is? The movies weren't exactly putting believability high on the priority list in the first place, what with the undead cursed pirates and all.
They are awesome, but I just wish they’d show the characters actually killing each other more often. I get that it’s a PG-13 movie franchise but they were able to show off more killing in Narnia using swords.

LadyK1903 yeah, for some reason YT loves recommending videos to me that are not only posted years ago, but ones that their own system shows that I've already watched.
Although I guess this is preferable to they algorithm occasionally deciding I'm interested in foreign language videos and making 1/4 suggestions be videos in foreign languages. The strangest part if that is they aren't even all in the same language, it's not unusual during those periods to have videos in Chinese, Spanish, Russian and some middle eastern language I couldn't identify, all on the same list of suggestions. WTF?!? 🤔

Malcolm Tagala I completely agree PoC is one of my favorites because its has so much in it. Its got action,adventure,kickass soundtrack,comedy,enjoyable story, cool visuals, and above all FUCKING PIRATES. Although I do hope that this fifth one is the last because this is one of those series that I will be extremely pissed off if they drag it out for money. So basically and this is coming from a fan of series, they need to make 1 or two more then end it because I don't want PoC to have the same fate as AC.

Chase White that's not the point (though you should go to Disney at least once), the point is they are making a series out of a theme park ride. Basically they had to make a generic pirate movie and slap the ride's name on it, so I don't see how they have made so many movies on a theme park ride.
I know these are jokes and stuff, and I normally laugh at everything in your trailers, but seriously, johnny depp is still a great actor who does great movies. His chameleon ability to blend into any role so completely that people don't see jack sparrow playing willy wonka or whatever is still amazing, and this is the first time I've ever heard anyone say the pirates franchise ruined his career or that he's no longer any good because he did the pirates franchise.

Every movie Ive seen him in was awesome (not necessarily the movie though). Have you seen Edward scissor hands, Willy Wonka, Into the Woods *(beware of singing)*, transcendent, Alice in wonderland, Rango(I personly didnt like the movie), corpse bride, Hugo and many more?

I'll never forget how hard I laughed when Jack Sparrow was introduced, that scene was comedy gold. Epic entrance with an epic score, standing proud and strong on top of the mast of his "ship".
The first PotC is the only one that counts for me, when you got too much of Jack Sparrow it felt like his value decreased.

The first one movie is great, worth watching it over and over again, but others loose it. In sequels Depp's acting is diluted same as stories. Only thing worth mentioning is Bill Nighy's acting and his CGI disguise

TBH, Johnny Depp looks like he has a blast acting like a weirdo in all these movies lol. Like really, he's rich. Screw his carer, he's clearly just having fun as an actor now, and people keep having him in movies anyway xD

He's not rich, like a few actors; he had his 5-8 movies of a great job. He spent a lot, then fell out of the "viewer scope". Nothing wrong with it, just...saying someone is rich as an actor doesn't actually take the rest of their life, spending habits, taxes, purchases, and emotional state into account.

Honestly, I love POTC! I loved the first one so much that I saw in theater 3 times and when it came out on DVD, I bought it and watched it every single day after work for a few months!! Pretty sure I have it memorized! Lol And you have to admit, his entrance in the opening scenes is one of the best character introductions ever! And the soundtrack is amazing!!

Seriously, the Pirates franchise is one of the most creative universes ever, built from a single ride, that invented the idea of Davy Jones being the Grim Reaper (seriously, Spongebob just had the Flying Dutchman be a ghost), established complex relations between countries and pirates, have their own form of pirate laws and codes, which are overseen by Jack's own older brother. Also, Jack apparently is one of the Pirate Kings, even though he only had the Black Pearl for a few years, meaning he either inherited the title from his dad, or he was already one of the most impressively dangerous pirates before he got the pearl.
Not to mention all the other awesome stuff that makes me think and plot in my head. Like where did Jack get that magic compass. Why was Jack so obsessed with getting the Black Pearl that he traded his soul for it.
Seriously, make a prequil about Jack Sparrow becoming the renown pirate that he is today. About him getting that magic compass.
Maybe Jack has to go on a quest to find the Black Pearl in order to win the title of Pirate Chief (or whatever their title is) from his father. So he steals the magic compass and sets off to find it. And the quest becomes so harrowing that he can't live without the Pearl anymore. and considering he's had a past romance with Blackbeard's daughter, perhaps the two of them teamed up to find the Black Pearl, but then they got compromised and Jack betrayed her in order to get the Pearl. And then years later the Pearl is sunk to the bottom of the ocean. so he makes a deal with Davy Jones to get the ship back, because after all the horrible things he's done, the Pearl is the only thing he has to show for it all, and he can't let the ship go without realizing that he's crossed so many people that he's one of the most hated pirates in the Carribean.

Jack wants to earn the title of Pirate Lord from his father, so he travels around until he finds Calypso, who offers to trade him the Compass in exchange for something else. He then uses the compass to track down the Black Pearl

I remember going to the 4th film in pirate costume getting drunk on rum and yelling "fuck the spanish" at some point then going on about how the hell could the Orlando-replacement-guy become a merman. How I didn't get kicked out of the theater I'll never know except that considering how bad the movie was probably no one cared or were equally drunk by the end.

I acknowledge the problems of the sequences, but I sincerely like all of them except the last one. They are just... Fun, you know? I think people wanted something as good as the original, but that is simple too hard. Disney tried to make it as an epically adventure tale and failed,unfortunately... But the movies still are fun.
Jonathan Guzman Don't know what the OP is going to say, but a lot of us thought #4 was just more of the same. Jack received no character development, the supporting cast was the blandest it's ever been (with the exception of Barbossa, Gibbs, and Penelope Cruz, in my opinion), the villain read pretty lackluster (again, in my opinion); it was good, but there was no real reason to make it; the story they told just wasn't compelling enough (once again, in my opinion).

I thought the first one was fun and great popcorn material. The others got stuck way too far up their own asses to be entertaining.

The first one was excellent IMO, one of my favorite movies of all time. I know there's a lot of hate for 2 and 3, and I get some of it, but I still enjoy them quite a bit. The 4th was just awful though, it took away so much of what made the first 3 great.

I heard someone say the reason why the sequels didn't work is because they took Jack Sparrow--the comic relief character who is untrustworthy with a mythic background--and made him the main character and I think they were 1000% right
I absolutely loved the first pirates movies, I was sad that the second was just a setup for the third, the third was pretty good but not as good as the first, and I loved the mermaid attack scene in the fourth one but that was basically the only thing I liked in that one.

It's possible that after another dozen more Pirate of the Caribbean movies come out that I might be interested in watching one.
Why do peolpe hate the Pirates-sequels so much? I mean, sure none of them are as good as the first one, by far. I could admit that. But why would anybody go as far to call them bad movies? The whole thing about Pirates of the Caribbien is that it's supposed to be fun and entertaining... and that's exactly what ALL the movies are (Including the 4th one which people seem to hate the most for some reason)! They're just fun adventure movies, nothing to be taken too seriously.
I honestly think the 2nd and 3rd are better than the first, cause they amplified everything that was good in the 1st (Better plot, grander scale and exploring deeper sides of character's personality and motivation, and overall fun). The 4th was just less than that(less grand, weaker characters other than Jack and Barbossa), but I enjoyed it nontheless. But in all these movies, I think the main driving force in them was the characters and the actors who brought them to life.
Once you watch a lot of movies, you kinda begin to understand what is bad and what is not, and the bad disturbs you so much you can't enjoy it. So you probably watched too little movies.
Haters hate sequels for the sake of it being sequels. Still many people loved it, 4 made a lot of money. Those people just dont share there love everywhere
Fabian Schuller the plot. 1st one was fresh and entertaining, and the 2nd was a really good sequel tbh. But the 3rd had a totally messed up plot with too many subplots having no impact on the overall story it just felt bland. The 4th movie took everything the 3rd did wrong and made it even worse it was nothin more than a cash grab
MrKosobi I certainly havn't watched "too little movies". I just know when you're suppose to simply sit down and relax and go on fun ride when it comes to movies like these. It's not something to be taken too serious, just fun popcorn entertainment. It's not like you're walking in to a Pirates of the Caribbien film and expecting a deep, personal story with complex/emotional character and plot like The Godfather or something.

This series is my favorite movie series ever. Yes, they are all about the same thing and very silly, but I love it!
