Not always. Look at Hereditary when it comes to modern Horror movies. Absolutely terrifying.
Newer horror movies often look way too clean with their digital cinematography. If they're going to insist on shooting digital, then they at least need to add in a ton more grain, underexpose the image and stop using such insanely sharp lenses. Having less visual fidelity often benefits a horror movie.

@@Percival-kl9yy Well, let's assume David created his breed of xenomorphs, other engineers came to collect it and take it away from him, he was either destroyed by them or his own creation, and the engineer ship crashes on LV4-26 due to infections... Thus leading to the original Alien... The prequels were always going to lead to the original either way so this was the plan since the beginning anyway... I would have loved another prequel, still it's not too difficult to connect the dots and see how the end of Covenant connects to the original movies even if we don't see everything... Romulus is set 20 years after Alien (so 5 years after Alien Isolation) so it will have easter eggs linked to every other story including the prequels yet happens to be its own independent story

i think one thing we're not talking about enough is how good its gonna be to have an alien film made that sticks to the style of technology from the first two films... prometheus and covenant failed the realized that the gritty 'futuristic' style was something we loved, and made an earlier timeline with far better technology... this looks consistent with alien/aliens
I am so glad I was young at a time when most of the original movies were made.
Seeing Alien at the cinema was an extraordinary experience, I remember the whole audience jumping in their seats, followed by some nervous laughter.

This whole movie felt like an Alien fan finally got to fulfil his dreams since childhood, like I can actually sense it, he poured his love of this IP into it, he definitely has a fear of Facehuggers, loves Alien Isolation, curious about how chestbursters are growing inside their victims, and there seems to be shots of xenomorphs molting etc. and he even included details that the sequels missed like the blue mist above the eggs. He brought closures to those questions he had growing up watching the Alien movies.
It's nothing like Alien: Isolation, don't be naive.

It's unbelievable that they managed to get an Englishman to say "water" during a tense scenario.
I’m not gonna lie, seeing full on practical effects with animatronics in an age where cgi dominates actually has me excited. CGI creatures nowadays are so incredibly photorealistic and I love it, but seeing what appears to be a real, tangible Xenomorph has me interested.
Good vfx are invisible. Don’t be another shill , search the no vfx are just invisible vfx series on CZcams if you think this trailer is using practical any thing.
The practical xenomorph looks awesome. Only issue was that during the face hugger on that British guy's face it looked very wobbly and obviously a plastic mold. Hopefully this is good!
Let's hope the story matches the aesthetics, but yes, it's a breathe of fresh air to see more conventional visual effects, instead of another movie smeared over by cgi.

Every alien movie is about a crew coming across the xenomorphs or whatever, like gives us something else sister, they just keep adding and adding to the plot, each movie is like “oh that’s how this happened in the last one” and that’s about it

This entire trailer feels so true to Alien as a franchise, but so fresh at the same time. Clicked on this expecting more Hollywood fluff trying to cash in on a known IP but I'm incredibly surprised.

This looks good. I’m patiently waiting till we get an alien movie with the colonial marines and hear the classic pulse rifle sound. “Aliens” is hands down my all time favorite movie and loved everything about the colonial marines, would be sweet to see a live action big scale battle with them and the xenos.
It brings the 2012 vibe nice but some old alien movies are undefeated .
The way they used that scary thumping noise to start the trailer and transitioned it to being the chestburster scene was terrifying

Judging from the trailer, it's visually cool shot but starts breaking apart under scrutiny.
