Hey, imagine if in the next game we go to Egypt after some time has passed and we see Brok on the throne as a pharaoh😂😂😂. He then says his cursive lines asking to upgrade the axe😂. I would like to see him as a pharaoh. Maybe atreaus would be captured and kratos goes to Egypt to find him (presuming) that's where he said he was going. Th3n we met Brok and he helps us find him with a nationwide search. We find out the gods took him blah blah blah. Maybe I'm reaching to far. What do you think?
Jon, what do you think about this "border wall" or sea barrier where the egyptian domain starts actually being the Nile River Delta, or the mouth of the Nile itself? The egyptian gods are often referred to as living in "The River Kingdom" obviously, so the mouth of the river would be the most likely point visitors could enter the region. Also, the knot design on that water could depict choppier waters as there are many small islands near the delta that form, compared to the clearer water further away.
"Good eye" indeed! I'm excited to see how the transition from Norse world to Egypt world is going to pan out. Kratos still has Freyr's flying boat and I'd presume that'd play a role in travel. Great vid Jon!
I think egypt probably will be the next. It would work too because if y’all notice the realms themselves, vanaheims jungle and crater, alfheims desert, and svartalfheims wetlands and bay give a lot of Egypt vibes in terms of setting
I do wonder who's gonna be the "Big Bad"? It cannot be Ra as he's supposed to be at constant war with Apophis (who's the personification of _Chaos_ in egyptian mythology) so it'll have to be one of the lesser deities like Set or even Anubis should he learn of Kratos's ability to defy death itself right before Kratos comes along in search of something. Here's to hoping they'll come off with creative ideas to introduce the egyptian pantheon in the coming sequel.
After killing that giant ass hippo in egypt Im sure there will be some loose ends for Kratos to circle back to there, if that monster is someone’s child for example
I really think the most obvious evidence that Egypt is the next mythos that no GOW CZcamsr has mentioned yet was the fact that the Jotnar Hidden Shrines are literally a rooms full of golden sands, which is very Egypt-like, and the fact that Atreus' new mission is to look for the other Giants / Jotunn makes me believe the shrines are the most in-your-face clue.
Yoo it's really cool that I just started my second play of the game and you did as well. I need that to make my opinion on the game cleaner and it's fun to find new hidden things like this. You can check out the ashen god scroll that you find in midgard after the fight with the huntress. It's interesting to see why the raiders are actually attacking Kratos and Atreus in the beginning of the game
As an Egyptian, I can't wait for a GOW set in the Nile Valley (I hope they include Nubia too but since they didn't include the Roman Gods in the old Greek games I doubt they would, but they SHOULD) but since Kratos is on his self-improvement arc in his life I lean towards the next game likely being in Japan because of their focus on discipline and self control. But if they go to Egypt I hope they don't make it a Gods of Egypt remake, I don't want a bunch of Scotts and Englishmen playing Egyptians, the Egyptians should at least look Egyptian something like AC origins but other than that I know Santa Monica is definitely gonna deliver on the story and gameplay.
Going to Egypt for the next sequel makes sense in terms of locality and proximity to the Norse realm so it's probable they'll have Kratos (and possibly Atreus) heading there. That said while i fully share your sentiment that the egyptian pantheon _must_ be portrayed as ethnically egyptian for cultural accuracy's sake given their track record with Norse pantheon (looking at you Angrboda) i fear they will do a repeat of it once more both for "diversity's" sake and also originality creating their own interpretation of the pantheon.
yo jon ford off topic question in norse mythology loki has 2 brothers named helblindi and byeleistr, do you think we could ever see them in future god of war games, if kratos has more children with another person?
the Brok theory, though it would have been cool, i personally am sure its that, broks funeral with on a small boat with no sail, that drawing is of a big boat with a white sail, also, since when was svartelfhiem filled to the brim with sand, sure it has sand but not that much, i personally think its kratos going FROM Egypt to the 9 realms, not from the 9 realms to Egypt, we know kratos went to Egypt before Midgard, so IMO that's the only real explanation on the painting
So basically a reference to God of War comics? If yes then this might be a subtle attempt from Cory Barlog and Santa Monica's part to further aknowledge the comics into the canon while possibly even teasing more comics on the way to give fans a glimpse of what's next in Kratos's journey following his adventures in the Norse Realm. Getting excited just imagining what they're cooking in the coming years.
@@javiervasquez625 I’m sure of kratos not going to Egypt, it’s too predictable and obvious, and kratos has already been there canonically, maybe in god if war 12 of something, but I’m sure that Egypt won’t happen
Lol do you imagine if Jormungandr travels to Egypt only to end up fighting Apophis (who's portrayed as a giant snake in egyptian mythology)? A bit too over the top to be honest so personally i don't think it's gonna happen.
Same eye is found by 2018 game when we were travelling to Alfheim I guess, through that thing we choosed realms. (pardon me for forgetting its name) I pointed it out since 2021 on discord. But hopefully SMS will lead us to Egypt.
As i understand it according to GoW co-creator and producer Cory Barlog they all exist in the same world yet localized in the specific regions of the planet where said mythologies were created. Thus the Greek pantheon was born and rule in Greece, the Norse pantheon in modern Denmark and Norway, egyptian in Egypt and so on. Not sure how that makes any sense with the many contradictory creation myths but that's how he frames the GoW universe in regards to it's many pantheons.
Can we talk for a moment about what Egypt could be like in a future game? It seems like a lot of people are expecting and even hoping for very mainstream depictions of Ancient Egypt with a mythical fantasy touch. Maybe even a lot like Assassin's Creed Origins. I don't want that. What I thought would be better Egyptian setting would be during a parallel of the start of Islamic rule in the region. Specifically the Islamic Golden Age and translating that to a type of fantasy steampunk setting. And the Egyptian gods are long forgotten, displaced by the Greek ones centuries... until they're released from their long imprisonment by a unsuspecting Kratos. The Ghost of Sparta, happening to be the son of their old enemy, feels the full wrath of the re-emerge Gods of Egypt. Replace Kratos with Atreus, I think it works just as well. Maybe better for shenanigans to lead to this plot. I'm not married to this idea. If they just explore a very Ancient Egypt setting, it's not a deal breaker. I just think it would be interesting to do a mummy's curse like story in a GoW game with the Egyptian gods.
Sounds like a cool concept on paper but it pales on the rich story potential a GoW game set in a full thriving egyptian pantheon could deliver should Kratos bump into a full scale conflict between the many gods like Ra fighting Apophis and Set planning who knows what to usurp the rule over the pantheon leading to a full scale Civil War between the gods in contrast to both the Greek and Norse pantheons where the conflicts were more one sided and focused on 2 specific factions. As long as Santa Monica Studios delivers a more diverse and conflict between gods i'm going to be satisfied with wathever story we'll get.

WE WANT EGYPT
I just hope we get a trilogy remaster
I want the title of the next game going to be god of mischief loki beginning
