      Nah it just goes to show how gone Greece is. The curse is fading away. These theories are also coming from the click bait title "caliope is alive. New info" then proceeds to give no info. Fuck what this guy has to say.

      Same here i feel like rhe ash is fading because he not only forgives himself for the past, but because he's becoming the god of hope, and he's fully redeeming himself.

  • @christiansoto893

    I think the ash is fading because Kratos is forgiving himself (in his own way) and is admitting to forgetting the past. When he speaks of Elysium he says how for many years he wished he had stayed but when he met Faye those feelings went away, he has forgotten his daughters song. When he speaks of the past he speaks with contempt because he understands that his actions in past while yes influenced by the gods he ultimately brought it upon himself for being narrow minded and not seeing the bigger picture. The old Kratos was brash and ruthless, this new Kratos thinks before he speaks (like his spartan training thought him) but now when he speaks there’s a lack of rage, he doesn’t scream at every turn and when he does it’s not out of pure anger anymore, most of the time it’s because he’s worried about his son. Yeah I know that he was cursed to have nightmares and the ash, but the evidence shows a lack of nightmares and the ash is fading. Maybe the way to break the curse of his past sins it takes his forgiveness not anyone else’s. That’s how it works in the real world, don’t matter what people say if you don’t believe it then it’s not true. But that’s just a game theory thaanks for reading 👊

    The ashes are so iconic to Kratos that I don't see the developers removing them. It's gonna be like the new Kratos where the games may mention that they are coming off but it's still visible enough to be recognizable. There are some special scenarios where the developers can remove them such as dreams, flashbacks, or one of those memories in Valhalla.

    • @smol1211

      Nah, i disagree. I think they should fade showing his growth as a person/god redeeming himself. Sure its iconic to him, but to remove it, to show that he's forgiven himself and redeemed himself i feel is way cooler and just better character growth

    The ash is kind of a symbol of not forgetting the dark history of Kratos and to not repeat the mistakes like you said Jon. Would be cool to see it kind of fade but also have small remnants of ash left behind to not forget past Kratos and how badass he was. Great vid Jon!

    It won't ever go away (goes against the whole acceptance thing) but Cory does say it's going away a little bit; I think its symbolic of kratos' actions still existing, but the sin of the action going away.

  • @Inventor_VA
    @Inventor_VA Před 5 měsíci +3

    Well you said it yourself the ash is bound to Kratos and not necessarily his homeland I also think that Kratos spreading Faye’s ashes are a parallel to the ashes bound to his skin. I think it’s fading as a symbol that he is being forgiven for his past actions and that is why the ash is fading’ but the ash isn’t fully gone because it is attached to past events he cannot change. Rising from the ashes like a phoenix’ Kratos rises from his past, he even does this In his Battle with Zeus and in his Battle with Thor he comes back to life. I think the ash is a physical manifestation of his lineage to his past wife and daughter’ that connects him to his reputation as “the ghost of Sparta”so in a way his homeland Greece can not fall unless Kratos himself falls. As though Kratos himself is a product and remnant of Greece’s most powerful Magic. Kratos is an ember of his homeland, and his daughter and wife were his home’ as Kratos was the home to his family, when he made the mistake to destroy them they instead bonded to him forever. And so even though Greece was destroyed in a way the Best parts of his homeland survived in the form of Kratos and the ashes of his family. So can Kratos homeland truly be destroyed’ not if he views family as home. Heimdall destroying Atreus would in fact Destroy what home means to Kratos in the Norse land, which is why Kratos would risk war with Odin at the cost of destroying the land because Atreus means home to Kratos.

    I see it as a very long time jump. In real life, tattoos fade over time. The same can be said here with the tattoo and the ash. It’s speculated that around 200-500 years takes place in between GoW 3 and GoW 4. So it makes sense why they would be fading with that amount of time.

    I don’t think it will fully come off as it may signal that he’s forgiven himself.
    After Valhalla, I do believe that Kratos has finally accepted his wrongdoings to move on. However, I’m sure he is consciously letting himself remember the atrocities he’s caused upon Greece and hence why his skin may just remain ashy forever

    I always thought that the ashes are naturally decomposing and not that the magic is weakening. I thought that the spell that put the ashes on Kratos’ skin made the ashes sticky so it can never be removed from his skin even if you tried to remove the spell. I think the magic went away the moment the spell was done because the ashes were already attached to his skin like Glue. So the ashes are naturally decomposing rather than the magic fading. The one thing that goes against this is Kratos going to Elysium.
    Another thought I had was that the ashes in a way become literally become another layer of skin for Kratos, like the ashes became his actual skin. And just like my first theory, the magic was gone the moment the spell was done and since the ashes are literally Kratos new skin, it wouldn’t have mattered if all the magic in Greece went away when Greece was destroyed. And the reason why it fades over time is cuz people shed their skin over time. And when Kratos goes to Elysium, the ashes stay whereas his tattoo goes away is because his tattoo is technically not his skin.
    I don’t know, those are the two theories I have

    I'd personally love to see brown skin Kratos again!!! I miss it!!! Give him back his melanin!!!
    Tbh I know it would be slightly more difficult marketing Kratos without ash but I think eventually people will get used to it. I mean if people adjusted to the design changes between the Greek and Norse Kratos, then it's not that crazy to imagine people accepting another change. Plus if for some reason in the futures Kratos isn't the main character anymore, then I don't think his skin color matters. Also I believe the ash is fading because he's accepting himself and forgiving his sins. So the ash losing it's color represents his gulit and shame being lifted.

  • @hopelesslyoptimistic8231
    @hopelesslyoptimistic8231 Před 5 měsíci

    I don’t think it’s necessarily because of him forgiving himself or his family forgiving him because the curse placed on him said he would wear his families ashes forever. I think it’s less literal and more metaphorical in how his ashes are just naturally fading as he gets older to symbolize his age and how far he has come from his former self. It doesn’t make sense for the ashes to ever go away because it’s his burden that he must accept. Just like how he can technically find a way to get his tattoos removed but he has come to accept his past.

    @jonford i want to add something important yo what you said in the video please,
    When you said that that kratos ashes are fading because it’s related to his home greece well it’s not you see kratos ashes is resemblance of family and its bound to him by a curse from the oracle to remind him of his failure, so the ashes is a constant reminder that he failed his family he failed to protect them ect. You know and kratos blame himself for it. So the true reason for his fading ashes is not related to greece homeland nor powers nor magic and nothing can break this curse you said it in the game chains of olympes when he got back to his form when reuinited with his daughter he was still white because no power can lift this curse not even traveling to another realm so nothing can break this curse only one thing can break the curse and its moving on, forgiving himself and accepting his fate, accepting his actions and forgiving them and we see that in valhalla that’s why his ashes are fading thank you for your content brother much love ❤️❤️ keep up 😌
