Kratos has faced vs many gods such as Zeus, Ares, and Hades, and even titans like Cronos over the years, but just how powerful are these gods, how do they apply to him?

Even the developers were like, "Kratos definitely could have punched Baulder harder, but then he'd be walking, like, five minutes to get to him."
It’s mainly because they didn’t wonna break the immersion of the game so the kratos punch was gonna be far away.
Its not that kratos was gonna punch baldur here, it was cut that he was gonna punch him further due to immersion breaking reasons
@@power8255 Basically this, it's the same reason Kratos isn't super overpowered in gameplay, it would be boring and immersion breaking.
@@power8255 if he can punch that hard he could probably run pretty damn fast, I think the issue here is budget and animation work it's not easy that's a large scale battle and the one that we got was already amazing, now imagine it on an even larger scale. It would look pretty cool but yeah you're right it would break the immersion of the game which is unfortunate. But the key thing here is that it is possible.

Especially on larger scale battles, that shit is expensive so cory relies on lores novels and statements to tell us the scale of the battle to a specific level
@@power8255 The problem with the whole limited by gameplay excuse, is that a whole lot of games didn’t have this problem. Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, and Asura’s Wrath proves that it’s very much possible to showcase characters’ canon strength. Asura’s Wrath being the best example. Instead of telling us, Asura shows us he’s capable of obliterating a planet sized being with raw strength. Hell in the first DMC game, which came out 2 years before the first GOW game released, Dante and the final boss fight in a brand new universe that the boss created. And that was without the use cgi cutscenes, just regular game engine. Games like those didn’t really need a novel to explain crazy feats when the games perfectly showcased it.
That’s really my biggest problem with the feats people claim Kratos is capable of. Is that it completely contradicts what we actually see in the games. I’m not talking about gameplay, I mean the cutscenes never even proved this either. It’s just a lot of contradictory from the novels.
Btw I’m sorry for this great wall of text I’ve made, I didn’t really want to have it this long. But I wanted to be specific for my response.

Younger Kratos was more violent and ruthless. Older Kratos got wiser and learned to control his emotions and use whatever strength he needs only when needed. It’s the perfect twist when you learn this and that he also has gotten STRONGER along the way

Which is scarier than it sounds because he knows the true extent of his power so all the time he fought his enemies it would just be him trying to enrich his battle strategies and tactics. Freya asked him if about some battle tactics he used back in his Greek days and he told her about Medusa in which he said there were 2 options to defeat her : 1. Get a mirror so she stone herself; 2. Slice her head off. His answer was the latter which obviously that was the easiest way for him to do. It’s crazy to know that Kratos is way more powerful than what any of the Norse gods can imagine.

As it's been said, the only person that can kill Kratos; is Kratos. And I wouldn't say he was nerfed. More matured I would say. If you watch the digital comics. You can see that he has made efforts to control his rage. It was his rage and raw brutality that in the past his was the main locomotion behind his strength. He works for personal growth and strides to be more calm and collected. As do people when they grow older. Even so for a Demi-god. IDK for sure but I believe the current events of GOW have picked a few hundred years or so after the Greek saga.

Kratos is so strong he doesn't even flinch when he stubs his toe
Kratos once stubbed his toe on the roots of a tree. The tree begged to survive. Kratos told the tree that for his mercy to be given, the tree would have to become strong enough to deserve it. That tree became Yggdrasil.
Kratos still thinks the tree needs to become stronger, but is on the right path.

That would be right if Asura, from Asura's Wrath didn't exist. The game has the seven deadly sins implemented into it, with Asura being the incarnation of wrath. Kratos is angry, sure, but that's not his only reason for continuing to fight, even in death. Asura on the other hand shows in-game that he is to pissed off to die, even when he couldn't remember why he died or why he's angry

@@QuassDebonair I've only played doom a handful of times😅 but that's still a stretch considering that atleast he had a reason to be pissed. As a I said, at one point (which was very early in the game) Asura lost his memories but still knew he was pissed off at something/someone and climbed outta the (underworld? never been explained what that place is rlly)and gave an angry shout. If the same or something similar happened to Doomguy then we'll leave these two at a tie, if I not then Asura takes the cake.

Many people mistake the power Kratos possesses in GoW4. He was holding back his true strength and rage ever since he got to Midgard. It was also explained in the comics. He wanted to become a different person and only kill if he absolutely had to.

They could easily explain the "struggle" to open the chests by explaining that they are simply locked by magic and kratos is so strong he can break them open with just his might.

Hold on, that would easily be discredited by the fact even atreus can open these chests, and (keeping your strength theory in mind) the only explanation i can think of is atreus uses magic to open these chests instead of raw strength like his father, but then again that will be discredited too since the first time he tries to open a chest we see him try to punch it, and then use his bow to smash through it, without uttering any incantation. Meaning the developers cant use this excuse

When he faced baldur, even the first time, he was careful not to kill him until he seen there wasn’t another way. He was in no way struggling to fight baldur or anyone else in the game. He even tells Atreus “there are consequences to killing a god” that idea is always in his mind when fighting baldur and Thor’s sons.
False, you wanna hear some quotes from the book? I'll give you some. "The stranger, however, recovered quickly, deflecting Kratos' blows and using his superior strength to seize Kratos by the neck and fling him into the garden behind the house." "Kratos realized his strength might be insufficient to defeat this one. The power this man controlled seemed far greater than any Kratos had encountered in his past life." It is made clear in the first fight that Kratos has with Baldur, that Kratos is rusty, and older, and isn't as strong as he used to be. But later on in the game, he grows to become even stronger than what he was in God of War 3. (PS: I know a full strength Kratos is stronger than Baldur.)
- Blackemperor- This is false man... in reality Kratos did not become “weaker” , since Greek Gods are not like humans and get more powerful with age. He simply had no will to fight until Baldur showed him he’s not to be taken lightly. Don’t forget Kratos has been seeking tranquility and peace for decades, maybe even a century, and he holds back A LOT because he’s trying to cope with killing every Greek God and basically destroying the Earth; and he doesn’t want to show that side to his destructive nature to Atreus. You forget that Kratos’s number one power is his rage; once he truly lets deeper into the story you find out he never lost it at all. The only reason Baldur even lasted so long, even in the first fight, is because of the curse that Freya put on him

Rustiness is, from what I see, the best way to explain it. Otherwise Baldur is just plain stronger than Kratos, always; which conflicts with what we see later in the game--Kratos beating the absolute fuck out of him--their first fight was much more even, Baldur being physically mightier in their first battle. Well let's just say Kratos is a chad and probably the most overpowered character to ever be created

Yes, it makes him less fun to play. He began as just a Hero like Hercules or Perseus, then he was upgraded to full "God" who couldn't quite beat Ares. He then rallied and defeated Ares barely in the first game. The second game he's more powerful, but Zeus was still able to defeat him, then he was empowered with help from Gaia, he still couldn't outfight Athena, only kill her when she was trying to shield Zeus with her body. "Hope" power is what makes him supreme. It's why Kratos should never fight someone with Reality Warping powers like Thanos with the Infinity Gems, or Mr. Mxypitilik, all they have to do is 1. Draw the "Hopepower" out of him, and 2. Undo the elevation from Hero/Demigod to full God effect. Then he's no more than Hercules or Perseus and that can't do anything but lose vs Thanos or Mr M. Thanos, if he knows Kratos' history could easily defeat him, as he would be the most powerful opponent Kratos ever faced by far.

So, atlas carries an infinite amount of weight on his back, and is destined to do it for an eternity(infinite) amount of time. Kratos killed Kronos and defeated Atlas. So Kratos’ strength surpasses that of all the olympus gods combined including hercules. According to Cory Balrog, Hercules can bear the weight of the world for months, even years. Kratos was said to be able to bear the weight of the world and the cosmos ALONG WITH ATLAS in it(confirmed by the devs).Now, speed. When Helios made the underworld for Hades, he used his light that is INFINITELY faster than light(confirmed by devs). And hermes is just as fast, if not, FASTER than this light. He battled both Helios and Hermes, catching Hermes and avoiding Helios’ light casually. So yeah, Kratos is one hell of a guy. BOOM THE BOY MAN IS POWERFUL
1. He didn't lift the 9 realms. He flipped a CHAMBER which was mounted on an axle and he only needed to lift the weight that was placed from the axle towards him, not the whole chamber. The chamber has portals in it, it doesn't have the mass of the realms it leads to. What made you think that to begin with? When cronos held him between his fingers, he struggled to NOT crush him, if Kratos wasn't resisting, he'd be crushed like a bug. The entire universe doesn't contain infinite mass, on the contrary, the mass in a universe is quite finite, it's the space that is infinite but space doesn't have mass. Take a container that weighs nothing. Put 10 bricks in it. It now contains the mass of 10 bricks in it. Stretch that container to become bigger. It still carries the same 10 bricks in it. Its size is bigger but it still weighs the same. So, no, Atlas isn't supporting infinite mass on his back, he's only supporting the mass of all the things that are contained in the heavens, a lot of things but finite.I do not know where you got the number 450 but if you stacked 450 men on top of each other, they wouldn't be as big as a titan. They'd be tall, but not as big. x times bigger means that the resulting volume would be x times the initial. If you meant 450 times the proportions of a human then the end result would be MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger. Kratos defying fate wasn't that big of a deal, he simply killed three old ladies and took control of the threads of fate, that in itself wasn't a feat of strength, he simply used an instrument.
Speed. That was a fun one. Hermes was standing on Athena's statue like an idiot and got hit by a big rock, like an idiot, got injured and could barely stand and in that pathetic state he tried to fight Kratos, like, yes, an idiot only to have his legs chopped off. Did I say he was an idiot? If he had any brains, Kratos would have never caught him. He was fast but not very smart nor strong. Just a fast idiot with the wisdom of a toddler. It was a very good example of the race between the hare and the tortoise, if you haven't heard of it, just think of this fight, it's the same metaphor. Helios just casts light, nothing special, Kratos could tank it by covering his eyes and just managing to grab Helios and that was it, why would light affect him, he was a fallen god of war, not a vampire.

It would not be enjoyable to watch a bunch of shockwaves when they hit each other and you cant see them at all because they move too fast. With the boots of hermes, kratos can literally run at flash levels of speed, maybe even faster with his genetic inheritance. So in dc, kratos looks at flash and he dies.

I always knew God Of War Kratos or “ Old Kratos “ was stronger than his younger counterpart but and this is the key oft imo, his younger self was more bloodthirsty and willing to kill and I dare say arrogant, while older Kratos is not only stronger but wiser and fully knows how strong he is and even the Spartan Rage meter in God Of War 4 I feel can be explained by it being Kratos only allowing a very small amount of his true strength out for a brief time.
TLDR, Old Kratos would beat young Kratos in a fight.

Coming back to the video and I just realized something. The power of hope is what makes Kratos keep getting stronger. The hope is something necessary when facing a despair or hardship to fight then solve it and it will keep getting stronger when you surpass the hardships. Kratos constantly has a fight or... "War" all the time. In Greek saga, Kratos has to fight multiple god despite knowing that they can kill him just to get something out of it like his own Brother, Vengeance and the fate of himself with Spartan. Especially Zeus that no matter what Kratos did to him, he will just get back up, return and continue the fight even when Kratos thought it was over.
During the time skip between Greek and Norse saga, Kratos has to keep fight against himself. His entire Greek saga is the stage 2 of grief, the anger, and now he has time for stage 3-5. I believe Faye was the one who helped Kratos through all the guilt and depression to make him come to terms that he can change his way.
To this day, he still have his internal struggle to improve himself and pave the path for his son who will soon grow up into a god so he can be a god that he wish to be. His hope will keep burning brighter to fight against anything even another god or the fate itself.
Tldr; hope is Kratos Zenkai boosted. The long dialogue is just me trying to think of how hope is important to Kratos.
