Zsolt's story is a big inspiration for me, I started to look up mountaineering stories because of him.
I was just thinking about suggesting his story, as it seemed to me that he was not as well known worldwide as here in Hungary. I really appreciate you talking about him!
In the past few days, I watched all of your videos.
What I appreciate about your approach, as others have pointed out already, is your calm and empathetic way.
You don't narrate in a Christian Bale Batman voice, you don't mock or glorify those events.
I just saw the Hippo video earlier and it could have been so easy to make fun of the man's trust in his pet. Instead, you stay understanding.
For that, you are my favorite channel about those stories by far.
I've heard many of these stories by now. Often the efforts and the risks taken just seem reckless and unnecessary but in the case of the first story I can't help but feel absolute admiration for the guy. May he rest in peace.
I like both your 1 story videos, and this one, as long as the shorter stories doesn't become so short they start to feel superficial, I'm happy. It's impressive how Eross didn't let the leg amputation stop him. But his climbing partner Peter Kiss that went up to help him looked so young on the photo. I googled, Kiss was only 27. So young, at least Eross was 40+, but of course that's no comfort to Eross family.
It's fascinating to hear about all these climbers, it's just sad that so many of their stories ends so tragically.
I liked both of the stories… but what I really like about your channel is that you do not sensationalize the event but point out the virtues and skills of the climbers. Yes, it is sad that they died. But your videos are a tribute to their lives. I have unsubscribed from CZcams channels in which the creators seem to get some kind of glee when a person meets a terrible fate. I like all your videos, whatever style you do them. (Also I like hearing you say the name of that mountain 😅)!
Really like the format as it’s always great to hear new stories that might not be big enough to warrant their own video... especially one as inspirational as Zsolt’s. 👍 One suggestion - if it’s all new content I’d avoid calling it a “compilation” as that suggests that it’s a collection of stories already on the channel (like all the end-of-year “marathon” videos). Those of us who watch each video as they come out tend to skip over them. A minor change like _“…… : Mountaineering Short Stories Vol.1 (or #1)”_ just makes it obvious that it’s new content.
And small pronunciation check @ 1:03 - the country is pronounced _Hun-guh-ree_ (slightly different sound to “Hungarian”, which you got right!). 👌
