I had a doctor who passed away during an ice climbing adventure. He was an awesome person and great doctor. RIP.

I found this quote to be so true during my years of ice climbing: "If the ice is good, you don't need pro[tection]. If the ice is poor, and you need pro[tection], you can't get it in anyway." - Jay Smith
    RIP Guy.

Mountain climbing has always captivated me because I can honestly tell you I will NEVER do that. I do love to live vicariously through others’ stories of fighting for the summit. But ice climbing and free solo climbing are categories all on their own. It was wonderful to hear the story of Guy’s life and his natural inhuman ability to be one with the ice walls. And more importantly, was a person of warmth who spread good energy to all. The manner of his death… tragic of course … but also in my eyes, an honorable way to go. He made no mistakes to tarnish his legacy, and in the spirit of those whose lives he touched, he died on a mountain literally just hanging out with friends and the community he loved. I put his name into search as soon as this video ended and now have quite a few videos about his climbing achievements in my “watch later.” Thanks for sharing this story in such a beautiful way. 💜

We just did the high pass in winter on the Annapurna Circuit. We were TERRIFIED just walking it. Needless to say I turned some of the ice a bit yellow (by accident). I cannot imagine ANY ice climbing....respect.

I honestly thought that was pretty nuts but at least he's tied off. Marc Andre Leclerc mix climbing rock snow and ice solo no rope 9000 ft mountain faces Marc was taken from an avalanche repelling down. I would imagine if you're a climber you know who he is definitely a legend I don't believe anyone has climbed any of the mountain faces he climbed

Seeing a part of the world that is still as wild as many years before is just so beautiful. Thank you and send much love.

Guy was pretty amazing... but I think the world's greatest ice climber should be reserved for Dani Arnold. The only person to speed solo WI6 and 7. Both the WI6 and 7 routes were over 1 thousand feet and he breezed through them... He also has many speed solo records... Speed soloing is free soloing but at maximum speed. He's the only Alpinist alive who still speed solos.

The Andes and other great limestone mountain ranges are actually made of, fossilized flesh. The term is actually called nucleophilic substitution, with our level Earth plane the actual Substrate ! Mega Titans existed, then ancient Earth was covered in Ice, it thawed out and oceans covered the remains and flesh was turned into stone. Yikes, I know that all sounds scary, but it's the truth, level Earth is made of numerous titans remains. The south Sandwich Islands is the massive jawbone of that mega titan dragon which was about 4500 miles long, tail near Panama. The Appalachains Mts. is a multi-head version, only about 1000 miles long though, a baby. lol 😉 You think that's a joke ? The north Canadian Rockies has two distinct titan dragon creatures, and of course this is where all our Oil, Coal and Shale etc. comes from, their venom ! lol ... I found over a dozen of these Titans all over our google Earth, but there are other ways to see them just open your eyes.

There are some things you just don't climb.
    A Horse's rear...for he might kick.
An elephant's back leg....for he might sit.
Your girlfriend's Sister.....for she might tell.
And then there's Ice......for it may get nervous.

God is the best and only protection we need if you are a person of faith. He gives us wisdom if we ask for it and if we use the wisdom God gives you and make sensible decisions you will survive. It's when our pride gets too big and we think we are inevitable that tragedy will hit. John 3:16. For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall have eternal life.
