Even though you used the foam padding as a gasket, you probably should have used RTV silicone and put a bead of that on the firewall before putting on the plate to really seal it up good, it would really help keep the heat, smoke, and noise out a bunch. Also while you got access to everything try to plug up and seal all the holes in your firewall, you won't believe how much of a difference that makes.

remember not to cut any wires ,because your fan, defrost are ran thru the ac unit & heater also ,so be careful what you get rid of as of the wires for the Ac unit !!!!!!

Should have pull the heat core out not cutting the Cooper off when u drive u have some coolant come out the heater core in side the car

I bought a borgeson power steering upgrade kit for my 81 and it fit and woks perfectly. A really good upgrade to get rid of the original power ram style, converts it over to a power driver box.
