- Getting close to London we pass through Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Watford before finally getting to Rickmansworth but it's hard going with so many locks and slow passing so many boats.

If the going's slow, time your movement to take advantage of the time you have where the grockles aren't allowed to move. They are often limited to moving within set hours that you do not have to adhere to. We frequenty found we could move further between 16:30 and 19:30 than we could between 09:30 and 15:30 - timings will be a little vague because the hire boats like to cluster at bigger moorings. It also helps is yu can move with some other owner doing the same sort of thing, as you can share the lock setting. Don't be afraid to call forward to pubs and ask about times for evening meals and breakfasts and if they know of any nearby moorings that aren't over-occupied. We've been invited to moor for free at some pubs, at others there's been a small charge or its been included with a meal . Enjoy!
No many hire boats down here to be fair! It’s just going past moored boats at tick over!

We loved the Grand Union! But we did turn round at Uxbridge. Decided London and the Thames weren’t for us.

I Would Love To Live/Travel Full Time In A Moveable Off-Grid 150 Person Liveaboard Lifeboat Bunker Tiny Home Built Inside Of A Tank Like Boat That Can Drive On Land Like An Extreme Overland RV But Can Still Float Down The Waterways In The UK But I Live In Good Old USA So I'll Just Park It On Land and Live There + I Love YA CZcams A Lot

I saw a video with a wide beam canal boat that had its own water processing rig. It could draw bathing and drinking water from the canal. Do you think there’s room for one of those on a narrow boat?
I’ve never heard of that so not sure! But space is a premium on a narrowboat! Thanks for watching 😊
