- This week we complete the Hatton Flight and make a turn onto the Stratford Canal.
Hi, we are Rozzie, Rob with our lovely cockapoo's Ralph & Rosie. We have given up the rat race, sold our house and have bought a new narrowboat, Thistle & Rose. Our vlogs are showing our learns as we go from bricks and mortar to life on the water. Join us as we literally learn the ropes of becoming continual cruisers on England's 2500 miles of canals & rivers.

I agree with Roz about being precise. That is why you have one of the most beautiful boat inside and out. I watch many vlogs and I have to say your boat inside is so beautifully and tidy of any I’ve ever seen! This is just what I would choose for a narrow boat if I was so inclined! Kudos!

Pretty good going, 4 hours. I did the Hatton Flight just once in a little over three hours but that was with another boat and a bigger team. Working a flight on a warm summer day is great fun.

Did the same trip about ten years ago having hired in Warwick. Friends with us who had never boated before thought it was a race doing Hatton flight, they soon learned to slow down!! Did yo do the farm shop top of the flight? FDL pub was great, looking forward to the rest of the trip to Stratford. We were late in the day getting to the basin and only one pontoon mooring left, lots of boat gongoozlers watching "the hirer" moor up which, with a lot of luck went perfectly!!

Absolutely love your vlogs, so lighthearted, interesting and fun, Just one observation, what happened in the tunnel? Rozzie you were wearing a pink top on the way in but came out in a turquoise top. Hehe 🤭. Do you both work, and how do you manage it, do you work from the boat? I'm 71, going through divorce and waiting to get house etc. sold, then buying a narrowboat. Can't wait. ❤
You caught me! I got sun cream on my top so changed in the tunnel, then still got the new one wet haha!
Rob is semi retired and I work part time. All remote from the boat.

Why are there locks on the canals. And how do you get back on the boat after opening the lock🤣🤣. Aussie here.
It’s all to do with the rise and fall of the land. Canals are just a trench dug out of the land and locks help go over and down the rise and fall of hills etc. after each lock there’s what’s called a ‘lock landing’ which is where you can quickly pull over and pick up your boat mate.
Keep them coming as it helps with what we put in the vlog. 👍🍻

Nice summer cruise, just a quick fyi, it seems the resolution of the last 2 vlogs is not as sharp as the previous ones, are you using a new camera or uploading them in a lower res?
