Yeah.. Just like that. Much more complex than a simple word meaning
Saudade: Human soul voice saying what hope was, is and will be.
Maro is speaking about her grandfather who died last year. Saudade - a very difficult word to translate - longing, missing.
The song is about her grandfather, that's why in Portuguese she says "I carry such a heavy weight, and you were always there to help me take the load off, and without you here my life has stopped making sense, for I have lost my best friend. If it is not asking for too much, I ask you to send me a sign that you're okay (in heaven), because when I think of you only one word can leave my mouth "Saudade"" and the song begins with "I tried to write a million songs but (...) Saudade, nothing more than I can say, says it in a better way". Because Saudade is not translatable to English. The best way to explain the feeling is the feeling of wanting to go back to somewhere you can never go again or see someone you know you will never see again.
It depends. We can feel saudade of someone we are going to see again, some place we are going back to... That's really hard to define the word "saudade".
It's magic... There's not better way to say it.

It talks about feelings, about the sadness and emptiness that Maro is feeling about losing her best friend, her grandfather. No fireworks, no frantic dances, just herself, the audience, her grandfather and emotions. Very portuguese but universal at the same time.

Saudade is a word which has no direct translation in any other language, which kinda goes well with the fact that only the portuguese have that emotion a lot flowing on our songs and life. Saudade can be said as we are melacholic abt smth that were ours in the past and it's not ours rn, and we "miss" it. This song is about losing his grandfather, which is a person which was in her memories and now it's gone forever. hope that helps to clarify ;) loved your reaction

The lyrics is kinda a defenition of what "saudade" means. Saudade does not have a translation to any language, its an unique word. It means all that Maro Said. Saudade is an emotion. What you felt while listening to that song is what the word Saudade feels like. It's funny because we portuguese, cannot translate that word. It's a word that you can't explain 100%. It can mean missing someone, or longing and desire... is the pain, the lack of joy, the weight in your heart when you can't be with someone or you can't go back to an experience from the pass. Is also happiness and hope about having or experiencing someone or something again.
This song is about her grandfather that passed away and she says that the only way to express what she is feeling is to use that word: saudade.

Quando um inglês diz: I miss you ou I miss those days, ele está expressando exatamente: eu sinto saudades suas ou sinto falta daqueles dias.. Ou seja, saudade existe ou consegue ser perfeitamente exprimida em outros idiomas Sim.
I dont think its exactly like that because in brazil they say the same word and it has the same meaning, I even thought it was a spanish word, from galizia dialect. anyways the structure is neo latin (sau-dade) which in italy would be ''solitudine'' even though for you it has a more specific meaning, a sentiment similar to nostalgia. I ask to be excused if im wrong
