There’s something SO magical about this words cannot express! Yet it’s a song anyone can understand. This is art! I’m so please with this, this made my night after that unfavourable Icelans result! Portugal are now my front runners for Turin 2022! My number 1!
Thank you for your support 🇵🇹🇵🇹
Agree with u
Yes, because Saudade, don't have a real translation to English.. and the more close is Missing. I hope someone.. translate to English the portuguese parts and the English parts to portuguese. 😉
Thank you 🇵🇹🤗❤️ Obrigada
Obrigado ❤️
By not attempting to construct an ESC song (UK, for instance) they have managed to touch my soul.
I will vote for this all the way.
Thanks 🥰
Obrigada ❤️
ME TOO !
(…and since we mentioned Saudade…)
Saudade is not a sad word.
Saudade is the embrace of the past
to the pain of the present.
Saudade is reunion.
Saudade is the prove that happiness exists.
Saudade is gratitude.
Saudade is the escape that saves us from ourselves.
Saudade is cuddleness.
Saudade is the kiss that wakes us up and gives us back to ourselves.
Saudade is tenderness.
Saudade is a tear that tastes like sugar.
Saudade is flavor.
Saudade is a flame that burns without ignating.
Saudade is the light.
Saudade is a space that fits our soul.
Saudade is home.
Saudade is a companion who follows us closely.
Saudade is the way.
Saudade is doubt without the shadow of fear.
Saudade is the truth.
Saudade is rain melting sunshine.
Saudade is a rainbow.
Saudade is a cold breeze that shakes your absences.
Saudade is memory.
Saudade is the everyday’s bread we knead.
Saudade is food.
Saudade is a land to which we never return.
Saudade is heart.
Saudade is the sea that always goes and returns.
Saudade is hope.
Saudade is faith that we do not depart.
Saudade is a prayer.
Saudade is the excuse that the soul gives to time.
Saudade is eternity.
Saudade is the matter from which redemption is made.
Saudade is Love.

BEAUTIFUL !!12PTS FROM FRANCE !👍😁🧡👏
"Saudade" is a portuguese word that has no direct translation in any other language. It can mean missing someone, or longing and desire... is the pain, the lack of joy, the weight in your heart when you can't be with someone or you can't go back to an experience from the pass.
This song is about her grandfather that passed away and she says that the only way to express what she is feeling is to use that word: saudade.
>"Saudade" is a portuguese word that has no direct translation in any other language.
This is a myth. It doesn't translate directly into English, but plenty other languages have it. German has Sehnsucht, for instance.
@@escfan3878 even in english, you have words like longing and yearning that pretty much sum up most of the meanings behind the word "saudade". saudade is a more complex word than those two, sure but they are absolutely associated with it.
@@escfan3878 Sorry. You may try to find some kind of comparison . But, believe me. Is only a Portuguese feeling for its subtleties. I`ts a word that unify our way of feel.
@Silva @ESC Fan a fast google search shows that the word sehnsucht is not a straight translation. "Some psychologists use the word to represent thoughts and feelings about all facets of life that are unfinished or imperfect, paired with a yearning for ideal alternative experiences" it can be used for when something that never happened is a desire to happen, like a "wish". Saudade can only be used to something you had or experienced before, is not the same thing. Longing ( anseio in portuguese) is only one of the things the saudade is. Saudade is longing and nostalgia (nostalgia in portuguese) plus the desire that you have those moments again, is the pain and the happiness together. Those words in English have already a translation in portuguese, like I shown, saudade is something else.
Saudade existe noutras lingua também!
Portugal: the Kings of Eurovision Chill Music
Would be an amazing moment if she gets the audience clapping all together at the final part of the song in Turin...can you imagine the energy?
saudade saudade, only two languages have that word: Portuguese and Galician. 12 points for Portugal please !!!! Wonder of song. Unha aperta a Portugal dende alén do Miño
I am Portuguese. My great, great Grandfather is from somewhere in Galicia. viva Galicia.
My 12 points go to Portugal! I love this genre song and portuguese language! After Amar Pelos Dois and Telemoves, now Saudade, Saudade! Thank you and good luck from Italy!
Maro has a very sultry voice and it reminds me of Sade Adu!
Im in love with this song im going be honest i dont care if will be enouth to cause something in eurovision, sice not always the best song that win but i must have this song to my life i wana listen in my days...
As opposed to all the depression and melancholy ESC2022 is drowning in, even though this is chilled, it also feels quite uplifting. Feels very positive compared to all the angst and misery we are gettting this year
You are right. But in times like this we must still creating beauty and art. We must give love to our hearts.
The song is amazing, her voice, the harmonics, the tempo, but...it's up to interpretation how depressing can you go but she's singing about the loss (could be temporary or forever of a friend) so it's actually very depressing and melancholic. Saudade is a very special word to Portugal, it represents a sense of loss and melancholy. Can't get much more depressing than that...P.S. (It seems that she wrote the song to remember her grandfather...)
@@RaSeti I guess I found it uplifting because the girls were singing with smiles on their faces. And that is a sharp contrast to a lot of the stuff we are getting.
@@RaSeti it's about losing her grandfather that was her best friend but I wouldn't say it's supposed to be sad ... Saudade isn't only about the sad part of the loss but also about the good and the nostalgia. I'd say it's her trying to honor her grandfather and celebrate his life and their relationship.
My favourite this year
(e por falar em saudade)
Saudade não é uma palavra triste
Saudade é o abraço do passado
à dor do presente.
the song is just the purest way to translate Saudade
"Saudade" means, the love that stays...
Saudade means longing, nostalgia, homesick... It is considered one of the 7 worldly words more difficult to translate by experts due to the complexity. Saudade can be the feeling of missing someone gone away, but also from places, moments, objects. Feeling saudade can be a sad moment as well a light happy or pleasent feeling, like remembering a very special happy moment, experience, the feeling of recalling it means saudade. Saudade is deeply into Portuguese language culture, used widely and daily.
The most exceptional about this masterpiece is that you do not need description or lyrics to understand, just listen to the music to the voice of Maro... the emotion that gives you is ... Saudade
This is art! Not junk music! Well done Portugal.
Someone asked me to define "saudade" ... I "smile crying" ...
About the music, it represents the cultural exchange and influences between the Portuguese and other peoples of the maritime colonies, Brazilian vibes, African rhythms, Asian mysticism with the influences of Iberian music (classical guitar and clapping).
I really love this song !
So beautiful. Portugal is definitely getting some of my points. Perfect simplicity, takes me on a journey every time I listen to it. Support from Belgium.
Wonderful song. Musically, I dig the chords constantly oscillating in tune and creating a subtle tension. Great singing, nice lyrics.
I have a feeling this may struggle to qualify, but it is definitely going to be one of my personal favourite songs of this year. There’s something so effortlessly beautiful about the sound, listening to it is making me emotional every time. And I LOVE that the staging is literally just five women singing together - I hope they do something very similar to this in Turin. I think Portugal may be my favourite Eurovision country, it consistently produces such quality and such beauty, and that is arguably a more important marker of success than points or placings.
I think it will qualify because I’ve looked at semi final 1 and it’s a weak semi final which should give this an easy qualification.
This is what I am talking about! I do not care if it doesn't qualify, cause it will just show how quality is not what Eurovision is after. It is such a beautiful song I am proud of Portugal's choice.
@@embrionized It will probably qualify I think.
It’s countries like Bulgaria that won’t qualify for toffee
Same feeling. I remember 2018 with imo a beautiful song but finished last (Portugal was automatically in the final that year)
Thank you 😘❤️🇵🇹
I recommend listening to "Salvador Sobral " singing a Mauro song "we've been loving in silence" , simply brilliant.
Love, peaceful, memorable voice and song. The World needs it in a moment of hate and war. Love to you all and specially to you people of Ukraine 🇺🇦

She won!!! I i fell in love. And Yes; She`s very Portuguese. No matter if she going to win or not in Turim. I always will have her to listen and to make me cry.
Nice Song could do very in Turino🇮🇹🏆👍all we now is TICKETS for Eurovision 2022😁😁😁😁
This is lovely. I hope it does very well. I agree this needs to be in the final.
(Saudade)
It was taught to us Portuguese people since young age that a lot of people died several centuries ago, specially young people and kids, across Europe of course, not only in Portugal, because wars, hunger, illnesses, people had to deal with constant loss and pain... But when you bury the body you keep the memory alive like the graves where the bodies rest... But when the constant traveling across the sea of portuguese sailors, fathers and sons for months and years, that takes the certainty of where our loved ones are or if they are alive or dead... Not knowing the day those sailors and soldiers would come back to their families, if there was a come back, it took away that certainty from a lot of mothers and wives, grand parents, friends, children, including the memory, the finality and at the end their meaning of life... And that anguish and dispair that could crumble an entire people in pain until extinction, in the case of Portuguese people it changed into a bearable feeling... The sweet and addicted feeling of hope dressed in an eternal sadness Saudade... And that turned out as a portuguese people identity and cultural expression, specially in the case of Fado music. Of course nowadays the term Saudade lost that primal meaning because times changed... But portuguese people did refuse to let the word die, even though it changed into something more trivial, it kept the deepness, because like I said it turned out as a people cultural identity.
Maravillosa canción felicidades Portugal.👏👏👏👏
Most beautiful song for me ❤️
I voted in Syro, but Maro it's nice, too. Cheers and saudade of peace. Cheers fr Madeira island. Ivo
Just pure magic.
This song is about her Grandfather which passed away and she misses him hard and deeply.
She won the Juries's vote and the Televote.
Yesterday at the Press Conference she said that she will change a little bit the staging in Eurovision in Italy.
It grabbed me immediately😌
Those (guitar?) chords are genius. Definitely on the top.
Best ..Best...Peace..danke Mauro
For me this is a song to heal with joy everything I lost, but was good to live.
Yeah, I'm getting slight Girl From Ipanema - Astrud Gilberto vibes from this one, but a slower, more chilled out version. Really beautiful.
Anda touch of Sade ❤🇵🇹
@@naturezanimal Yes, she has quite a Sade sounding voice....sultry and deep

Look for Maro Calls, on CZcams, and listen Maro & @Eric Clapton singing Tears in Heaven
I never watch this type of videos or reviews, but this one is spot on. Hopefully the judges will put Maro on the final, this songs gives me chills all the time. Simple, beautiful, just (as you say) typical portuguese. I live in Pico, one of Portugal islands, and just the thought of being by the ocean listening to this... inexpicable, makes us go for deep thoughts, deep memories, but makes us feel so much better. The only word is really "Saudade" ("Nothing more that i can say / says it in a better way")
*Portugal was on the final last year with Black Mamba (but not on the top spots). About Conan, despite a lot of people saying it would be a good contender ("ranked high on betting houses" as they usually say, and with a lot more saying that's the type of songs Euro Vision likes) i never believed it would go to the final, never liked the song. Guess i was right :D
In her presentation video, Maro revealed that she wrote "saudade, saudade" to remember her grandfather, who recently died. "It wouldn't make much sense not to be me singing such a personal theme", stressed the artist. Maro is the artistic name of Mariana Secca, from Lisbon, who grew up in a family environment marked by music, began studying piano at age four, attended the conservatory and studied at Berklee School in Boston, United States.
She just won;) thks for the react
Uma maravilha...!❤🇵🇹🕊🇺🇦

Thank you so much! I'm very proud of this choice and very proud to be portuguese! ❤❤❤

You nailed it, it's only a simple and true song from Maro to her grandfather that passed away two years ago. You empathize immediately with the feeling of longing, it's so true and powerful.
Beautiful Song and voice ❤ magical

Your pronunciation was pretty good! Love this song!
IT'S MY TOP 3. Beautiful song
I love it!
Thank you for you point of viuw, I think is a great choice ❤
Yep - I'm Portuguese and I wasn't expecting this particular one to win (we have all kind of eclectic, interesting entries that didn't win) even though I agree with you - it's a very soft, simple, cute song. Let's see how Eurovision reacts to it this year P.S. -it is about the loss of her grandfather- how he used to be her anchor and how she lost her best friend (actual words) 🙂
It's very beautiful and deep. It's about Maro's grandfather death and the "saudade" she feels.
Thank you! Obrigada! ❤
I ❤️ this song 🇵🇹
Está canção é maravilhosa! Força Mário, embora lá ganhar a eurovisãp!. Força Portugal!
Hi Andy! That's a good song!

Always a pleasure to see your reactions.bless you andy.big love from israel
It's going to Win....for sure. It has the touch of Sade ❤❤❤
So happy 🎉🎉
Muito obrigada! Thank you for your kind words 🙂
The lyrics is kinda a defenition of what "saudade" means. Saudade does not have a translation to any language, its an unique word. It means all that Maro Said. Saudade is an emotion. You are happy when you are excited, you have "saudade", when you miss someone. Thx for your reaction, Portugal lovs u🇵🇹❤️
Another one perpetuating a myth. Param com isso ja, por favor.
@@trildi can u explain it better? Im sorry i dont catch it
@@duartefarinha8229 ''Saudade does not have a translation to any language'' - nao e verdade, e um mito que muitos gostam de repetir. E mentira.

Translation of this music to English ^^
I’ve tried to write a million other songs, but
Somehow I can’t move on
Oh, you’re gone
Takes time, alright,
and I know it’s no one’s fault, but
Somehow I can’t move on
Oh, you’re gone
Saudade, saudade
Nothing more that I can say
Say it in a better way
Saudade, saudade
Nothing more that I can say
Say it in a better way
I have so much that I bring with me
It was always my haven
And now nothing makes sense,
I lost my best friend
And if it's not too much,
I ask for signs
only one word remains
Saudade, saudade
Nothing more that I can say
Say it in a better way
Saudade, saudade
Nothing more that I can say
Say it in a better way
I’ve tried, alright
But it’s killing me inside
Thought you’d be by my side always
Saudade doesn’t have a translation but saudade it’s the feeling of missing something/someone, and it feels that your life is not the same
Saudade is a word used only in Portugal usually the translation into other languages gives a meaning "I miss something" but in Portugal you only use that word when you miss it touches your heart and you can't forget it
