I was told to check another version of this song so I chose the Live in Avinyó one so here's my reaction so have a look at what I have to say about Maro.

"It wouldn't make much sense not to be me singing such a personal theme", stressed the artist. Maro is the artistic name of Mariana Secca, from Lisbon, who grew up in a family environment marked by music, began studying piano at age four, attended the conservatory and studied at Berklee School in Boston, United States.

I found this video of Saudade, Saudade because I was looking for music by Rita Payes and by Silvia Perez Cruz, and saw that both of them were on this video. I love this song and love Maro's voice. Everyone of the backup singers are well known artists. What a great group!

Honestly, I don't care if she wins the Eurovision. I think this is a great song and I'm glad that she won the Portuguese national contest so we could bring something diferent to Eurovision. Most songs I hear in the Eurovision don't endure beyond the contest but I think this one will outlive it.
Most people don't know the artist background that Maro already has. She worked with Jacob Collier after she graduated from Berkley Music School and he's one of the most amazing musicians in the world right now. She has a youtube channel that she uses to post what she calls "music conversations" with other artistis and there are some great moments in there with amazing singers and musicians from diferent nationalities.
Soft and vibrant at the same time, in my opinion. It give us hope, self love, it’s magical! Great great great Maro! It’s unidimensional! It’s huge men!

The previous version of the song you watched/listened was after they were elected to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song contest, hence the flying confettis, the trophy on the floor and the emotion that goes along with it, you can actually see Maro smiling during the song. If you watch the video that shows a phone number on the bottom left screen, which happened before they won, that version is much more in tune.

I'm Portuguese and i like the song but we all know ukraine is going to win eurovision this year. This being a song about loss it will fit well inside the eurovision lineup im not sure if it won due to the messed up state of our world but at the contest ukraine will win. Betting houses also agree
Thanks Paulo! Yeah that's probably true. I really like the Ukrainian song though and I feel bad for Kalush Orchestra if they win by sympathy cause as an artist you'd want to win because of your song I assume. That's what I'd want anyway. But we'll see what happens.

Portuguese People get blind when it comes to "defend" something about the country 😁 it's just our nature. Personaly i don't think we have a chance of winning ESC, not because this is a bad song but because there's other good songs this year that in my opinion can win, like Italy or Sweden. But i really love Maro and her voice is unique, and i can understand that for other People her music can sound boring but man it's just an oponion❤️

As far as I can tell, there's one that might be Spanish, the one on Maro's right sitting by the guitar player. The girl sitting next to her right, that's her sister! I'm not sure about the others, but if they are Spanish, they have a very good Portuguese pronunciation! Either way, these are not the girls she'll take to the Eurovision Stage, I believe she'll take the ones from her National contest, FC, and they were awesome as well! In addition to her amazing voice, she's got excellent backing vocals!
