We cant be mad at Salvador , he won tele and jury votes , we are happy that a small nation as Bulgaria made it a bit more interesting at the end :) I even dare to say that we are even more happy to be a guests then a hosts , cuz we dont really have money to host a good Eurovision show , so its all good :)

Time will tell how long people will remember this song. Personally I heard it twice and already forgot it. Sounds like a music from the 60s - 70s. If I was into that music I'll listen to Sinatra instead. Nothing special here, just brings memories to grannies. Won't ever top any radio chart, there's no need to explain why. Don't get me wrong the song sounds good, probably the lyrics are good too. Unfortunately I don't understand portuguese and don't like my granny's music so it's not touching me inside. I can understand the jury vote, but the televote was set for sure. Cheers.

Not to compare Salvador with the ones I'm going to mention, just to prove a point: what makes you think music from past decades (or centuries) are less worthy? Ever heard of Beethoven? Mozart? Chopin? They sure weren't from this decade, or century(ies). Billy Holiday? Beatles? Sure enough again, not this decade. All of these are still listened to. But like I said, not to compare them with Salvador, just to prove how big a fallacy you have going there.

The reaction of Artsvik the Armenian singer when Salvador finished singing was beautiful and many others like Alexander Rybak on his instagram said "Yesssss!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ What an amazing voice, and such a worthy winner! I'm very happy now.😍" ... Real Musicians realize what a jewel of a song this is! I understand that this isn't everyone's cup of tea but this reaction happens every year to all winners...Cheers! A lot of people who're hating the song only listen to metal or dubstep or rap or pop or remixes and they actually think those are the best and everything else is shit, but in reality all the good bands right now have some sort of background in classical or jazz (Muse, Imagine Dragons, U2, etc...), the ones with disney background who get their songs from someone else aren't really the best thing... i mean i still like some of the above i mentioned and i listen to them but it's clear how the construction of those songs compared to jazz or classical is just garbage. tbh a song i would listen to frequently isn't the portuguese one but the swedish one, because it gets stuck in your head and it's a fun song, but you can immediately tell it's super repetitive and it's a super generic pop song without anything to distinguish it from the others... catchy and fun isn't a synonym to quality song, which a lot of people haven't realized yet... no one really listens to mozart or beethoven on a daily basis but only illiterate dumbasses would dare say it sucks.
the other reason people hate on the portuguese song is because of Salvador Sobral's looks... i don't think i even have to comment about those degenerates.
people were telling me on twitter they don't really expect a much refined taste from me since i'm someone who enjoys playing videogames like LoL or Overwatch (who knows why that is in any form related to my taste in music...), but then i noticed people who said that are metal and k-pop fans with their profile pics from Babymetal so... i don't think they really understood their situation... people are just super butthurt, specially the bulgarians, they're outraged because their horrible song didn't win XD

I think it is weird how people say that they want different things and embrace diversity but in reality when someone actually presents them real diversity they say, no, Eurovision songs have to follow this formula, don't step out of it. It looks like people don't like to think or be challenged. Like when you give kids a home cooked meal and they say nooooo I wan't to eat MC Donalds every day. And when you confront them with the truth they say, how arrogant. You can like this song or not, but look ! you can actually give an honest intelligent response about it. Congrats!

you should be ashamed .....instead congrats Portugal for their victory some of your major comments are hateful comments about it ...liked or not, just keep this in mind: IT WON A GREAT SIMPLE SONG WITHOUT ANY STAGE FIREWORKS AND IN HIS NATIVE LANGUAGE.....this is an impressive fact that might help you all as an example for your life decisions....KEEP IT SIMPLE AND HONEST! I´m afraid that all the "fast food appreciators" will not understand EVER this winning song (a true filet mignon)....it requires a good dose of sophistication and culture to do that....and by the way, they have won in the jury vote and also in the televote and with more than 100 points of diference from the second place ....so, a little bit of respect please! and Celebrate Diversity!!! And 2018 in Lisbon :) such an amazing city....couldn't be happier ;)

i was in tears when he won. i screamed loud enough to wake all neighbors up. him calling out the music industry saying "we live in a world of disposable, fast food music" was literally life-changing to me. i was 16 at the time and i'd never seen anyone describe the way i feel about modern music more accurately. to this day, it is still the case. this song will be one of my absolute favorite songs until the day i die. it won't age a day. because six years later, it still hasn't. i love all his other music too. thanks for everything salvador ❤️

He is one of the best guys that ever sang in this competition and his song was way deeper than italy's for example. He deserved to win because just gettin on that stage for him was a huge step. It's a song conpetition not a who-is-the-hotter-guy one.

He's so right, as an outsider to Europe and all countries participating in this contest, what I often see is over the top, highly fabricated, pop performances that are awfully generic. Salvador delivered a lovely song that is such a change from what I normally see and hear in this contest, it was a sigh of relief and that's the reason he won, because even that Bulgarian boy was so mainstream and I thought he was singing a One Direction song.

Great speech, I completely agree with Salvador! There is place for several genres of music, but honestly the Eurovision has been more and more about fireworks and less about music! Fortunately, there are tons of excelent music and artists, but there is always a strong tendency to make momentary success, without much effort, and without any feeling. This victory, as far as I see it, is the evidence that authenticity still pays off, as long as we are human. Congratulations, Salvador and Luísa.
