Given her inability to realize what fans actually want, I’d say she’s not a fan of the Star Wars universe, but a fan of the universe of the Star Wars fanfiction she created. In other words, she’s a fan of her perception of what the universe is. That Star Wars is a template to create what she actually wants.

I gave up on star wars when disney bought it.
The setting has lost more than it gained from the Disney buyout. Most fan projects I've seen ignore the "age of resistance" because it's a bunch of wasted potential. Some content from rogue one or andor is accepted but most of it is ignored.
The Andor / Rogue One arc is fine. Lucas probably should have considered cranking some of those out (or at least franchising it) in the early 1980s.

Yes, they are most likely mocking it because, like Rey's lightsaber "form", it consists of the actresses swinging the lightsaber around like a baseball bat. No clinches, no defensive postering, no proper sword positioning, because outside the original "A New Hope" which was limited by funding and technology, the other movies barrowed the lightsaber forms from actual sword fighting, modifying them to fit the idea of "what can a person with enhanced reflexs achieve" and it gave us the lightsaber forms.
Disney "Star Wars" just has people swinging "lightsabers" like baseball bats, the people using the props have no idea what they are doing, they aren't recieving combat instruction, let alone "Hollywood" combat instruction (IE how to make the fight look good without needing actual training), and "force fu" is just another example, where they try to make the fight interesting in the editing room rather than during production.
Facts. Which is extremely annoying because lightsaber combat is detailed in the EU. I’m playing KOTOR 2 which has near a dozen lightsaber combat forms. All with good explanations for why they exist.
That’s why Rey beating Kylo in the first Disney movie was a joke. Any girl can pick up a lightsaber and beat someone trained from birth in a lightsaber battle.
Playing KOTOR, there are some tough fights against Sith trainees. Not even high ranking dark Jedi. Essentially just Padawans

Arch, it's still dubious if the 3 Star Wars movies made their money back, because of the immense size of the UK production costs. TFA and TROS are closer to $400 million than the $250 million budget. The total production of all 3 movies is something like $1.1 billion USD, not including promotion costs. Given the industry estimate of 50% for US Domestic ticket sales and 35% for international ticket returns, they would need over $3 billion in ticket sales to 'break even'. The lion's share of overseas profits are usually only made once the movie has broken even, as the ticket sales in international areas includes promotion costs, tied into the sales / marketing and distribution. As a result, they can swing from 30% to 70% revenue in some regions and depending on theater chain profitability i.e. 300 seat, 500 seat theaters, Dolby Atmos seating, etc.
If there only was a person, who single-handedly did write some Star Wars novels that was so influential, that spawn a whole EU, and even inspire George Lucas to use some ideas like Coruscant. and did work for Disney. But no, Timothy Zahn can not be working for Disney, because if that was true, they will have him write full script or attest basic storys to use as a foundation, then making tv-serie or movies.
Worst part in all of this is they could literally just pull any of the older Star Wars novels out of the library and turn that into a movie, and it would be a hit.
Think about this, George Lucas already had the final trilogy written, cast and ( I think) even story boarded and all Disney had to do was film it. Instead they decided (after they already bought SW) to throw it away and create the dumb AF Rey trilogy even though they told George they'd follow his vision and use his trilogy idea.
Disney was literally handed a billion dollar trilogy that would have set future SW properties up for insane success but instead they decided to just sink the ship.
