Anyone remember the Hape's cluster/Consortium? I have heard people say that was insulting to China, but unless it was in the comics somewhere they only had mild asian motifs and a matriarchal society, they had lesbians because their society was basically already what Disney wanted, they had all sorts of mystery and yet... Disney refused to touch it because they think we want to be stuck on Tatooine and Coruscant while making THEM unrecognizable, we had Naboo where Disney easily could have made "Young Palpatine", a drama about an evil man screwing up something either matriarchal or Democratic where a Matriarch pushes back...
They had SOOOOOO many acceptable options for a true fan to stay lore/physics faithful while still pushing their agenda, but instead they had to rewrite everything starting with the sequels, how hyperspace gentlemans agreements from before the Republic work, how the force works, make the villain look like a child ruining his own grandpa's legacy...
They chose to insult and debase the only people whose wallets they bought access too, the old fanbase.
This isn't gatekeeping by fans, this is relocating your themepark to the middle of nowhere and replacing the rides people came for with stuff that needs babygates because they aren't tall enough to ride yet no adult wants to go or feels wanted.

I was literally told that Star Wars was for kids by my peers when I was in 7th grade, after I made an art project with a Star Wars motif. I had to hide the covers of the Star Wars books I read because I was bullied for it. But now I’m being told that I’m not a real Star Wars fan by the imbeciles who own it now.

The worse part is that, to the few and far between women who join these hobbies, it was organic, it was natural, it was out of their own volition because they saw what the thing was and they liked it in its sincerity, now it's all being changed to bring people who didn't like it to begin with, feel compelled to spew platitudes because it's pandering but aren't going to consume it or stick around for it long term.
It has been shown that as you increase the number.bwr of women into a men's hobby those women that started out as fans will begin to change it.
Women are more likely to group together and aferm eachother and receive less push back because women are less likely to be confronted

The problem with increasing numbers of females in a fandom is that they start playing female dominance games, a lack of which was often part of the existing fandom's appeal. It's just women reacting to other women, just like they do outside the fandom. It doesn't mean they aren't fans; it just means they're pulling the levers that work for them elsewhere.
That is a little different from these people who are told that they can do anything they want, as long as they follow some simple guidelines so the producer can slap a big-name IP on it.

That's not a "divide of the fanbase" it's the actual fanbase not wanting people acting in bad faith amongst our ranks.
According to these people you could have a fan base of ten million people. Make a show that caters to 100 of them and then call it a "devided" fan base with a "splinter" objecting. When in reality it the fanbase itself rejecting and the splinter supporting the trash.
They tried to say that about Rangs of Powah, too. The fan base was solidly against it. Some did watch a bit of it in an attempt to be fair, but we were united against it being called LotR.

To Arch’s point, before this show came out I was telling people who are causal fans that this show was made by Leslie Headland, Harvey Weinstein’s personal assistant who actively aided him.
That bit of information was enough to turn them off ever watching the Acolyte. And the Shills can’t really counter that strategy because it puts them in a Catch-22 they can’t avoid.

Fans inherently welcome everyone, because there's gonna be a subdivision that will accept them regardless. It's the people that are interested inusing the fans and its work for politics, social clout and agendas that make sure certain people aren't welcome and if you are truly rejecting those people - who will come in all stripes, it's jsut the woke right now - then you have nothing to worry about .Actual diversity will reign. If you fail, then you targeted the wrong people with the wrong mindset and then go back to constructing new gates.

That's a good point. I never excluded anyone from my hobbys because of their race or gender, and I never saw it. But now I am the one being excluded from Warhammer because of my political beliefs. THEY are the ones being non inclusive. It's them.

As a Nigerian fan of Star Wars since childhood, I am done with disney star wars😒 I am done with toxic identity politics, garbage writing, and antagonism towards fans. I refuse to even pirate their garbage. I'll stick with Lucas era shows and movies (currently rewatching Clone Wars by Genndy and Feloni) and the EU novels. The only good stuff post Disney are the Fallen order games

This all started with female Ghostbusters and when Disney bought StarWars we knew it was dead. Im not buying ANYTHING. If i have to pass on the new WH40K SpaceMarine game to wake up GameWorkshop i will. StarWars hasn't been seen by my family since Disney has it.
As a kid, i built a prop lightsaber out of a clear plastic tube, pvc pipe, metalic tape and as much time and patience i could muster.
When i went to go play with said prop, 3 older boys took it from me, destroyed it and made me watch. While they smashed it...
My love of starwars always had a cost to it.
It remains to this day, but these pretend fans have no skin in the game and havent even been so much as teased for their like of starwars.

Well said. And I could say similar things about the franchise, product, and mediums I used to love too. Whether broad or narrow, such as video game and comic, or something specific as D&D or Godzilla. They've all been taken over, people consuming don't only know nothing about it, but have contempt for what came before.
Now these things are being consumed for the hype and to be part of the crowd. And the people that like these products, only like them in so much as they're used to support or promote the ideas and ideals that they've been told are right and moral.

Star wars ended in episode 6 for me
Started with a new hope and ended with Jedi. I don’t understand the prequels defenders. The prequels were just as crap as all this new stuff.
@@LordThreewow wow calm down there champ the prequels had awful moments but it also had some of the best the franchise has to offer like anakin vs obi-wan, the battle of geonosis and Sidious's rise to power and comparing the prequels that are at the very least a 6-7,5/10 to this new era that is at most a 2/10 is completely wrong and nowhere near comparable.
The prequels VASTLY expanded the lore of the series and characters we know in the original trilogy whilst still respecting the source material even caused actually fun shows like The Clone Wars to be made so No the prequels and the sequels are *not* the same thing.
Eah, there was a series of novels, 'heir to the empire' IIRC the title, pretty much was the continuation of the series if you wanted it.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is no longer the WORST Star Wars show on television.
One of the interesting things about the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise is that it was originally designed as a male franchose but women came in and fell in love with the original series so much that demographic could be credited woth saving the franchise from obscurity during its original run in the 70s.
The difference is that nothing was changed when we got a sequel series with Zeta Gundam. Women have always been welcome in the Gundam fanbase so long as they want more of what makes Gundam the show it is.

You’re ALMOST entirely correct. What a lot of people, including progressives, forget is that Star Wars was a global phenomenon. Lucas and Co. made it with young boys in mind, but it was so well made that it appealed to almost everyone who watched it. It was sold out for at least 3 weeks in a row, if I recall. Normies overwhelmingly liked Star Wars because of its universal storytelling tropes and themes, but the diehard fans LOVED Star Wars for its characters and worldbuilding. Normies were NEVER our enemies: they were our allies for sharing our interest in Star Wars. It was ALWAYS the activists who were our enemies.
