Witch is a 1 card combo in Memento Summon Witch, Search Horse, Special Horse, Pop Horse, send a second Witch + Mace + Goblin, activate Witch to pop itself and summon Mace, activate Mace to pop itself to get the big guy with 5 monsters in grave So supposeimg you don't get negated, it's pretty easy to set up your grave
@@hazavair5755you just summon goblin instead and use it's eff and dump the 5k dragon plus tri-horn. You then shuffle all the names back and SS the 5k dragon from the GY. You still have fairywitch in gy as well so when the opp does something you summon it back with 5k dragon eff and search mace(which is now live as a widow anchor).
About the 2-Player starter set, the thing was pick archetype that are easy to learn but hard to master (Swordsoul and Exosister for example) instead of 2 40-card piles with random cards and ditching completely the script because it will never recreate the feel of a real duel
Learning archetypes definitely seems like a good choice but exopiss definitely isn't one with a high ceiling, plus anti meta archetypes don't seem like a great introduction in a 2 player environment as they aren't fun to match against
I think Farfa and chat missed that the quick effect change of heart is only on your opponent's turn... meaning it's only disruption, you won't make use of the taken monster unless you have IP on your field
I just realized: with the sanctuary you can xyz during the opponent's turn, DON'T protect the field spell, the the xyz gets popped and brings back 2 guys. Idk how it is useful but just wanted to share
I've learned something hilarious with the "new products should actually teach modern yugioh to new players" take: new players don't want to learn that. I've tried to pill the game to many people from different ages and places, and after I gently explained handtraps, summoning mechanics, and a bit of player priority, the general consensus I received was, "That's a lot; could you recommend a deck in which I don't have to track ANY of that but still win?" Yugioh is in a weird place in which the issue is not just teaching new players; the game is attractive enough to spike people's interest but scares them right away with so much stuff that people don't want to care.
Unironically, recommend them trap decks. (Maybe not lab tho). I picked up dinomorphia specifically because i feel the 10min combos most decks require are masturbatory time wasters.
It's something that takes time. You basically have to let someone learn a simple deck, then learn another, then learn another, etc - slowly letting them branch out into other mechanics without bombarding them with too many mechanics at the start.

And the reality is that they liked those decks; they allowed them to play the game without caring for much of the stuff but didn't make them feel interested in anything else. A friend was trying to play Labrynth (because Waifu stun deck), and the second lady missed timing he dropped it. Yes, your opponent responding to your trap with something different than a trap is not really miss-timing, but the thing is that if I don't care whatever that reasoning is, my friend sure as hell cares even less. A trap was activated, and he wanted to search for a trap. That doesn't sound so outrageous.
What the fire king deck needs is a way to turn all of its monsters to level 8 to make it much easier to summon the rank 8 dark hole/MST. So Galaxy Queen's Light. That's what it needs, but an in-archetype version of it.
The fact that these decks are designed to teach you summoning mechanics but then has 2 boss monsters that subvert their own summoning mechanics Teaching people xyz or synchro summoning but then saying "btw, you can also just not follow those rules sometimes" is gonna get confusing
I'm honestly fine with it. They probably still include the normal ones but includes outliers just to say to the new player "hey listen, i know you just learn about that rule but sometimes, with certain cards, yugioh is just that game that broke their own rules"
Honestly mementos seem really cool. It's basically an otk setup regardless of whether you go first or not. If I go first, I setup and force you to otk yourself in your battle phase, if I go second I setup a big piercing monster and otk. Like obviously there's potential to get negated or brick, that's Yu-Gi-Oh I don't think that's a particularly interesting or worthwhile observation lol. But this seems pretty easy to setup on your own turn and your opponents turn. Is it gonna be meta defining? Likely not, but it's a cool friggin deck nonetheless.
The Rank 8 is also just a generic boardwipe that can bring itself back as a 3k vanilla once. That's PRETTY GOOD especially with the rank 8 turbo deck coming out.
I learnt Yugi Oh by entering at masterduel, doing the tutorial, trying to build magician girls stall with quintuplet magician becouse it was fun when I played Duel Links (Blue Eyes era), bullying my friend that knew nothing, he net decked Tri Brigrade, and I was flabergasted (proceded to build VW with VFD)
Starter Kits for TCGs having a "Tutorial" that has you pre-arrange the deck and follow along isn't unusual, Pokemon was doing this with Starter Deck sets years ago, hell I think even at launch, and despite the reading, works about as well as on Master Duel, perhaps even better because nothings glowing, you have to ACTUALLY READ THE TUTORIAL The decks are gonna be only half coherent because they're mixed with nostalgia bait like DMG and Barbaros(and Zexal/5Ds stuff) and trying to cover a variety of effects, card types, and situations, but they'll be fun enough to pick up, mix, match, trade between the two decks, maybe get a booster for Visas stuff to cram in, the modern Kaiba/Yugi experience before you think about heading to your LGS and getting to learn The Real Game that everyone (who wants to learn a competitive game) know hides beyond the veil
Watch the dueling decks be Noble Knights vs Infernoble Knights, wouldn't that be funny? Fr though, it'd probably be a Rank 4 focused deck like Utopia vs like Speedroid. Well known and recognized archetypes under the summon methods. Both dedicated to executing multiple of said summons and covers deeper mechanics common in their methods, Speedroid synchro climbing and Utopia Chaos XYZ and Rank Up Magic summons.
Also, the new rank 8 being generic means that horus gets to blow up the field and then immediately draglubion for game, if their engine is online. This is unironically one of the nastiest tools they could have gotten
Eldlich was part of a synchro combo pile at some point in time, im not complaining the reprint is welcome, he’s very good as just a going second tool in some decks or a extender in decks like metalfoes and fluffal when you cant afford magicians souls package
Looking at the starter set, it seems more like it's going to be forcing the people to have to read over everything/most things, and that's not a good new player experience either way. It's good that they're trying, but I don't think this will result in too much. They'd likely have to make major changes in order to have a decent new player experience tbh.
I agree with swordsoul being a good deck to be sold as a starter. Swordsoul is a deck that even with my semi complete built albez deck I struggle against it.

@redsquirrel9961 true, when I decided to get back into yugioh I grabbed 3 albez strike structure decks and made a decent deck to start with. I did struggle with making even basic combos and I was missing timing with my cards but all in all it's my favorite deck to play other than budget dragon link.
Ive played with Zeus for a while and I had no idea that you can summon it on ANY xyz monster after ONE attacks. I thought it could only be summoned on one that did the the attack. I love this game but it doesnt do a great job of explaining how some cards work and you just kinda have to. Know
An xyz doesnt even need to attack, just battle. For example you could punch your opponents xyz monster with something like dark necrofear and in main phase 2 make zeus with their monster since “an xyz monster battled”
Or i guess not necrofear since it only steals in the end phase but same idea applies if you were to punch an xyz with a main deck monster, in main 2 make your own xyz then immediately rank up into zeus

You know what I love more than good legacy support? Good legacy support that maintains the original archtypes playstyle and gimmick. I barely touched Fire Kings but I totally lost to someone that played it a bunch. Maintaining the theme of constantly dying and reborning is just awesome to see. RIP my fave Ghostricks going from a control deck to a Zeus engine. :C

I played a scripted duel in pokemon once with a friend. It was good to get the mechanics when you never played the game.

Pokémon did this. They made a script duel set for 2. It taught you how to play.

What about dangers? They discard (not so bad), draw (amazing) and provide bodies if you'd ever need any.

But not only is it not a zombie deck, it's pretty weak
