"Jesse, we need to cook"
A classic :P
@@Solstin The silly has responded!
I promise I will NEVER get tired of you saying ANYTHING in the Deckard voice.
He's a national treasure, may his glorious dialogue always be memed on for how often it's skipped lol
#SolSaysWhat
"Huh? It must have been the wind..." Classic Skyrim line
Might even throw in an arrow to the knee for free :P
I'm always torn between killing bears near my base for resources, and trapping them in a pit so that they don't respawn and eat me.
Oh yeah, there's always that internal debate! I really needed the extra food, so a territory dispute settled in glorious combat was my only real option.
To kill the bears, or to not kill the bears. That is the question.
The Deckard Cain voice had me rolling 🤣
Haha thanks, it's a scarily natural voice for me to slip into lol
Who?
@@Code_Machine Deckard Cain is the old man from Diablo 1, 2 and 3. Haven't played 4 so I'm not sure if they bring him back for that one
Almost done with my bricklaying apprenticeship so I'll throw in my two cents. Ashlar is generally a term for finely dressed (shaped) stone that requires very little mortar to bind together. There's variants of ashlar with different designs. Also, love your videos and your voice impersonation is top notch!
Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it!
#SolSaysWhat
Gaius's Praetorian Speech. "Tell me Adventurer. For whom do you fight?"
Or you could even go with the "SUCH DEVASTATION" line. :P
Ooooo, this reminds me I need to get the Gaius coffee mug that says, "SUCH CAFFEINATION"!
Nice idea to convert that pond to farmland. It was worth the battle with the bear to take the spot. I'm not sure about the black barrel near the fences: I think that rabbits can use it to get over the fence.
I like your style of making videos 😀
What The ODD Ape is in the Chat
Haha yeah I can't remember if I left in the bit where I had that exact same thought about the barrel. The fences around that part should definitely go a bit higher to protect the crops :)
Hi there LittleJohn! How are you doing? 😄
Sometimes it happened to me and I know the frustration of loosing some crops... especially the first ones when you're short on food ahah
@@TheOddApe doing good
Dude that SolSayWhat was impressive!!!
Thanks!
Wow very talented voice skills. Something I use to do, and something I see other CZcamsrs doing, is to do a quick recap like "so I went and got these" or if you are building something, sometimes a time-lapse from a 2nd camera perspective works out good.
I use a 2nd account for recording the Temporal Institute videos, but that ends up with me playing on a laptop while recording on my PC, which is fine for less intensive shots like that series has.
Episode 4 is already recorded, so likely by episode 5 and onward I'll try to set up the laptop to record a 2nd cinematic perspective as a pseudo replaymod :)
As a talented voice actor, #SolSaysWhat, I would love to hear the scene from the animated movie “Mulan”, where Mushu the dragon first introduces himself to Mulan, and when she slaps him, he says “Dishonor!…Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow!”
An Eddie Murphy impression? I'll give it a go but I may have to take some creative liberties lol
Save one hide for the Fur Coat for winter, which requires only 1 huge pelt instead of several small ones.
The updated dry stone textures and the aged ashlar blocks (which somehow don't require a pick) fit so well with the cobblestone now. Additionally, if you use chiseled fake slabbed walls, you can use actual cobblestone slabs too, as they have a static texture that is slightly different from the dynamic cobblestone texture. Those three blocks are one of my favorite stone combinations for when you want something somewhat uniform now. I typically start with the dry stone and then remove all the variants I don't like as much or those who repeat too much too close to each other and then replace them with cobblestone or the aged ashlar blocks, following the same rules for them.
12:45 There goes Deckard talking dirty...
23:15 Would look better one block up in the floor of the door frame.
I agree for the block textures. I plan on replacing a decent bit of the cobble for the farmhouse with drystone and some aged ashlar blocks to texture it up. As for the aged polished blocks near the door, moving them into the doorframes is probably the way to go. Apart from the kitchen where I already have an idea in mind, I'm still up in the air about the floor for the rest of the ground level.
And I've been storing the hides, just have to remember to get it all ready to make into winter gear before the cold starts to set in. Luckily, I've got a bit of time :)
@@Solstin Just remember that curing them takes a while too.
Man, I really look forward to these episodes. I enjoy seeing your editing style change and evolve. Keep it up
Thank you! I'm having a lot of fun with the editing process and should hopefully have a bit of a cinematic boost in the next episode or two :D
#solsayswhat Commander Shepard: "I am commander shepard and this is my favorite game on the citadel!"
A second request for this quote, looks like I'll have to spend some time perfecting a Commander Shepard impression lol
@@Solstin Yes sir! Really love your video's of this game. Anxiously waiting for the next episode!

In a canuck voice " Boy I would love some tims, sorrey I meant some stew! Stay in character sol!!!"
Oh fer sure there bud, I can do that, eh!
OMG YES! 😃😃😃

Deckkard Cain
Well most say dont risk it, but i would say- Risk it for the biscuit! Or it aint worth it!
By the way! For the chicken coop maybe you could put some of it under the awning!
Near the window, and have some bushy greenery there with a rocky like fence that's curving around to the fencing of your garden and backyard if you plan to change it in the future, perhaps even some of the aged ruined blocks mixed in if you find more? With other cool rustics items too for fun and giggles to feel like a good ol story like adventure 😅 😊😊😊
Loving the aesthetic ideas for under the awning! The chickens will likely have to go somewhere away from the house until they're a high enough generation that my mere presence won't scare them, but once they're docile (in probably a few years in-game) then having chickens running around in the backyard feels like a great fit. :)
@@Solstin oh right! That makes sense, I don't know much about the knew update still so that'll be fun to watch for your next episode at least or the fifth one at least : D
Woo my lunch break just got way better!
And mine, in fact, did not taste like my pockets 😅
You're really missing out on the lint and accidentally-went-through-the-wash quarters flavor!
You're very funny. Love the series.
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
#SolSaysWhat
Maybe a David Attenborough impression of the lowly survival collecting or doing basic tasks during the intermission?
Coincidentally enough, episode 4 is going to start with almost exactly that!
Can't wait!
#solsayswhat frank from always sunny, any of his classic quotes
There's so many to pick from! I might have to do a couple of 'em...
Nice episode! Looking forward to seeing how you develop the area.
Thanks! This little farm and farmhouse is just the beginning. :D
Hello my friend ❤ I love your channel 🎉 and also your voice heals my brain and ears
Thank you! Glad my voice has healing powers for you!
Yessss a mew video! First thing i'm going to do when i'm home is watch this!
:D
I hope you enjoy it!
Ashlar basically just means solid stones are cut to fit together. As opposed to concrete or brick which have to formed at some point.
I figured it must be something along those lines, thanks for the insight!
#SolSaysWhat Cmdr Shepherd: "This is my favorite store on the Citadel!"
;P
So glad I found your vintage story content. Ive been looking forward to watching it in the little downtime I do get. Also your impressions are impressive 🫡
Thank you so much, I'm always happy to bring a little entertainment :)
be careful about secrets in the garden. The potatoes have eyes and the corn has ears...
Good thing potatoes went extinct during the rot plague and corn hasn't been invented yet! :P
If u want more cobblestone, it is also a quick way to run through a Dessert and collect the bigger bolders. Clay shouldnt be the Problem! The other way would have been mudbricks!
I definitely could, and eventually will do that! My main motivation for taking it from ruins was the hopes I'd find some seed vessels or other neat goodies along the way :)
Even picking the ones on the ground is super fast if you stay in the last slot in your hotbar and keep it empty.
I'm sorry, I just listened to you do a very wide array of voice impressions and I'm sitting going, "This one... this one's got talent." No joke, I'm really impressed by the voices you pulled off, so I think this idea of yours is really cool. I'll be looking forward to seeing the lines you'll do in the next video.
Also question, is that farmland layout the efficient method for farming? I'm curious as I've only had the game for about a few weeks, maybe less than a month, so I haven't gotten quite far yet into it. So I have a lot to learn still.
Thank you so much! I've been doing various voices for most of my life, starting with fandubs back in the mid 2000's, so I'm glad you liked the impressions!
As for the farmland, it's a fairly efficient use of water sources. Water adjacent to farmland will hydrate it to 75% at all times, and goes down by intervals of 25% for each block further away. So with this pattern, every piece of farmland stays at a minimum of 75%!
just in case you did not notice it. things hit with projectiles below you take hit + fall damage if done at a steep enough angle (usually almost straight down/below you). i am not certain but i don't think the spears/arrows take more durability damage from this so it may just be free hits with no penalty!!!
Oooooo, I knew spears and arrows could hit multiple times if they ricochet upward and land score a few hits before hitting the ground, but I wasn't aware of a potential gravity bonus!
every video i see people shoot or throw spears at things below them it seems to hit twice so i seems legit.
@@Solstin
@@ijkdenem Could be, I always presumed it was just the hitbox collision getting caught up and triggering more than once as the projectile tries to get through the target.
@@Solstin I don't think there's a gravity bonus to projectiles. It just double taps them sometimes from the projectile bouncing off and landing in the ground, which can happen even if you hit them head on, not just from above. I actually killed myself this way once by throwing a spear upwards. lol
@@Dark__Thoughts Oh that's got to be the worst way to die lol
#SolSaysWhat A montage of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's famous lines.

The Turbo Encabulator monologue, or at least part of it
Oh boy, jargon!
#SolSaysWhat
Severest Snape from harry potter or duke nukem saying "I hate the smell of so much dirt and not enough herbs, I'm all out of herbs"
That'll be a tough choice between two great characters 🤔
you need a totoro to help grow the crops (or bonemeal is easy to get early)
I do have a bunch of bones in a reed chest... either that for I can wait for the cat bus lol
#solsayswhat Billy Crystal's or anyone's lines from The Princess Bride.
Well now I want to watch it again lol
Can you do a bit in the decard Cain voice about asking Diablo for farming advice or “cooking with Cain” #solsayswhat
I like that idea!
I've personally been working on a bit where i do a Pierre Polliever impression followed by a Trudeau one(i call them greasy. PP and numb nuts). I understand keeping politics out of it but most people probably don't even know who those people are lol
Haha I guess that'd depend on how much people pay attention to Canada
The "eisen" is pronounced so perfectly german... What's your story again? Canada? Impressive.😊
Thank you! Several generations of Canadians in my family, but I've had acting training and dialogue coaching in the past which I feel has helped with accents and pronunciation. :)
#SolSaysWhat
Maybe some Revolver Ocelot lines?
Ooooh, absolutely!
I've already got the first round of SolSaysWhat recorded and rendered but this will be in the next one!
#SolSaysWhat you could do "luke i am your father" or "have you ever heard of the tragedy of darth plaguis the wise" both from star wars
Some good ol' Star Wars, can do!
5:00 (ish): Can water sources not be moved around with buckets in this game? The tutorials higher up in the playlist made it seem like it's possible, just that it won't keep special properties, like being hot boiling water. [Add] I later found out that water sources in Vintage Story aren't like the ones in Minecraft, and I was worrying for nothing.
I don't believe I had made a copper saw yet so I didn't have boards to make a bucket, but you're absolutely right that water sources can be moved with a bucket once you can make one!
@@Solstin Oooh, so buckets are further up the tech tree. Thanks for the info.
!
A little suggestion for ya. Why don't you use planks for the floor, when u can get them of course
That'll likely be the plan for the upper floor for sure, but I'm still debating between wood or some kind of stone for the majority of the ground floor. The kitchen is a space I have a very specific plan for however, and it'll be a nice pattern of a couple types of stone. :)
@@Solstin
New suggestion. How about a mix of stone and wood for the ground floor.
Ooo like a stone trim around a wooden floor. I'll try out some designs to see if anything stands out for me!

"Simon says... but he does not speak" in the Diablo voice please. Thank you!
I can already hear it in my head, and it's great lol
@@Solstin I'll be listening out for it! 😄
Set up your chickens away from your home and farm or you will scare them all the time and they won't sit on their nests
Good call, I'll likely set them in either a separate structure or the far side wherever I end up putting up livestock pens little ways from the farmhouse!
