The groundhog that showed up in the climax of the movie is named Digger. He was a mascot for NASCAR during the early 2010s for Fox, pretty sure this was a Fox movie so that would make since as why they put him in there as a crossover character

11:55 fun fact, that's a NASCAR mascot.
Not a mascot for the sport, or for a driver, or a company that supports NASCAR... it's the mascot of a camera.
They started including low-to-the-ground cameras along the track to give you a new perspective to see the cars from, and referred to it as being "Digger's Gopher Cam", for which they'd have that little CGI gopher pop up on screen while they're showing it.
There either was, or there was planned to be a whole TV series based on that character, but either the show lasted only a couple months, or they never actually got it off the ground, I don't recall which.
My dad was huge into NASCAR, and I was like, 13 with a younger brother at the time, so I saw the movie and a lot of NASCAR and I remember making those connections.
I've never seen this movie, but the word Squeakquel is ingrained in my brain.
