Back when this movie came out, our school was in the middle of getting rid of last year’s 8th graders who were such menaces to society that they considered completely getting rid of 8th grade’s day off. But they decided against it cuz our class apparently balanced it out. Our reward? This crackpot of a movie. That was back in 2017 btw, so do the math about where I am today kids.
Side Note: Yes even us 13-14 year olds thought Alec Baldwin said “Fuck poop duty!” When he was discovered, we had a whole half hour discussion on the way back to the school after the movie about it.

Not an anime film that gave respect to mental health issues!? Same as when they chose Frozen, a great but flawed Disney movie that became a multibillion dollar franchise that’s now milked dry over Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises. 😡😞
It didn't win, but it did get a nomination over A Silent Voice.
Bummed because I tried checking the lists from the early 2010s, but it looks like at least A Silent Voice got submitted for a potential nomination; nothing for one of my personal faves, Wolf Children Ame & Yuki
Also, the Academy Awards don't seem to have a lot of respect for animation in general. Around 2014-2015, there was an article that came out about some of the voters and they acknowledged that they hadn't watched some or even any of the animated movies (one person even made a rude remark about 'The Tale of Princess Kaguya')
It feels like after Up and Toy Story 3, they kind of went back to not caring about animation and just leaving it as its own side category; Coco should have made the list of nominees for the 2018 Best Picture in my opinion. Animated films also never get nominated for other categories - such as Best International Film (Studio Ghibli and Cartoon Saloon, anyone?) - and voice actors aren't considered for Best Actor/Actress. If we only had a time machine, perhaps Robin Williams could get a nomination as Genie.
@@bijoukaiba it's kinda sad considering animation though needing kinda of a aquired taste especially for foreign animation like anime has some of the best stories out their, stories that can only be created or represented using animation. I just want anime on particularly to be considered something much more than a kids show, hell most anime isn't even for kids. I'm find with American animation being considered kid like because, well that's all america creates is kid friendly shit and leave live action for the big boys

Think about it: during that time on your life (when you, most likely, don't know anything about both sexes) you stand at your parents' hips height, and the main thing you notice is that your mom is "round" and your dad is "square". Translate that into cartoons... and you get this.
