    I never tire of Sophie and the spruce-ups she does to get the house in "sellable" condition. I keep watching them, hoping to get motivated to spruce up my own home a bit (although not planning on selling, it needs updating). So far, it hasn't happened, but hope springs eternal in the human heart!

    Sofie always puts curtains in. They're not necessary. In fact, curtains and blinds are many times taken out--or at least completely opened up--to let in more light. Bright, sunny rooms help sell a home.
    Plus, her curtains always look cheap.
    The tile backsplash in the kitchen is poorly done.

      Most shows also forget to iron the curtains so they don't look so cheap. Add a chain to weigh them down at the bottom and they'll look like they're made of a much more expensive fabric.

      I liked the addition of the new light fixture and the "wine bar." The new table and slim mod style chairs fit the space better than the clunking looking former table and chairs. What's needed is a couple of splashes of color on the walls in some art canvases. Those silvery thingies are too small, they have zero impact and add no color at all to the space.

    • @mapatterson173
      @mapatterson173 Před 3 lety +5

      I loved the first DR table and chairs. They were perfect for the home. I’d have picked up the red in the stained glass window; added some transitional feeling artwork; area rug; set coordinating colors on the table linens-not too muchArtwork’ recover any fabric seats, with an accent for the window. That small sun porch was lovely, a perfect place for morning coffee, afternoon reading or playing cards in the evening. It could have set the cozy mood for all the house. I wonder where the source the new furniture they use in the show.

  • @maryloumawson6006
    @maryloumawson6006 Před 3 lety +8

    I'm not buying it. Their original price was $30,000 too high. Then the team spent $4,400 on a make over, and they still didn't achieve the amended asking price. I like the new cabinets and tile in the kitchen, but she kept saying that it added prep space. How? It's narrower than the old hutch, which makes the space feel more roomy. But I wouldn't want to work on a one foot wide counter.. I'm not sure that part of the make-over was worth the effort. Plus, they never talk about parking. I understand there's little one can do if there's not much parking in the area. But it's a BIG thing for buyers, and needs to be overcome if it's a draw-back. It's something this show never mentions. But it has been a big consideration whenever I've considered buying a house. I've passed on many because of it.

    why is there a wall between the sink and the stove I would never buy a house with a kitchen like this

    • @peachesdixon7567
      @peachesdixon7567 Před 11 měsíci

      The stoves create heat as does the electric refrigerator, likely, they were originally in a tiny, separate room, with windows and a rear door entrance. No A/C when this house was built. There may even be a brick wall between the hot area and the sink/house area for fire prevention. The sink area was for prep and storage of cookware.

      That’s a good question. My husband is lukewarm about this show, because they don’t always say if the house sold; how long it took to sell it; , or if the owners got their asking price. In this episode they did, but the info is sometimes missing. We aren’t trying to sell, but I almost always like Anthony’s practical solutions. Okay, and Sofie wears some amazing clothes. 🙃.
