Almost a year later and I just stumbled across this review. A couple of my own observations having spent a couple weeks doing a basic set up and testing on a Vectis for a friend. First, 100% agree that this is a fun gun to shoot. For some reason I was getting considerably more power out of the one I had (retuned for 2020?) pushing 38-41fpe with most medium-to-heavy pellets. Also, it barks. I removed (cut off) the suppressor/equalizer on the shroud and mounted a DonnyFL Sumo suppressor. Now the sound of the hammer strike is louder that the report from the muzzle. I only tested at 40 yards with a moderately decent scope (Leapers Accushot $150 model) but I consistently got 1/4" groups with H&N Piledrivers which really surprised me since no other rifle so far has liked those pellets. Also consistent 3/8" groups with Hades and JSB Monsters. I was getting tight groups with one or two fliers in each set with the other pellets so perhaps that deformation of the skirts was causing those issues. Once again Hatsan has the trigger adjustment directions backwards in the manual so be cautious if you are trying to adjust the trigger. What they have listed as the screw for the second stage break is actually the first stage adjustment screw. Probably driving some folks crazy trying to dial in the trigger. So thumbnail review a year after Rick's; really nice smooth rifle that seems to produce a bit more power now and has to have an aftermarket suppressor if you are going to shoot anywhere other than out in the boonies. Likes heavy pellet and still has the problem (same as the Flash series) of an inferior magazine design. I know Hatsan can fix the mag problem if they make an effort and that would make this a superior field gun.

For home defense. This is probably the best airgun made. Bent pellet skirts,or not. At 10 yards inside a house it wont matter.
Mount a Red Dot scope and its awesome. Put a blindingly bright flashlight on it and its even better.
12 powerful, accurate and reliable shots that can be placed easily inside the skull, is no joke.
Leaver action is fast and less complicated than a semi automatic.
If you can't get a powder burner. Id go with this!🎯🎯🎯

I have it in a 25cal and don't have the bent skirt issue. At 33yrds indoors with humidity and temperature controls and shot 1/2” to 5/8" groups and got 20 rounds consistent shots but dropping to lighter pellets without refilling more air and continuing to the yellow zone kept the shots in the bullseye. It liked the JBS heavy an most of the H&N's. I do size and weigh my pellets. I am really impressed with most Hatsan guns and should be 30% more expensive. Way better than the cheap Chinese springer from the 90's. This gun was designed for hunting and doese it well. I want to take it turkey hunting. I am so impressed with this gun. This is a great starter pcp gun. I got the gun and pump for just under $300.

Absolutely love my vectis. Was never a fan of synthetic stocks or “tactical “ looks. But I caved haha. Mine is highly accurate, more power than advertised. It’s shooting H&N grizzlies at .5” and less at 50 yards. This will take a coyote at 25 yards with a headshot, no problem.

Just a tip for the best accuracy use a target with smaller aim point or “bullseye.” Having that nice scope, take advantage of its power. Aim small, miss small!

Glad to see Hatsan getting rid of some weight but I think I'll stick with my Sumatra at over 80fpe in .22 . Great idea and hope they step it up I like the models I have and they shoot great but they are on the heavy side!

  • @allaboutpcpairguns7069

Thanks Rick . I have to say i like my Sumatra 2500 25 caliber. She's loud ,she's an air hog, she's a beast, she's not exactly light , she is pretty and deserves a permanent place in my collection. Even next to real firearms.People who see it think it is a real firearm. Also heavier pellets can be loaded in the magazine and put out some serious foot pounds on the target. Not a big fan of all that plastic.

Kinda sounds like the only problem isn't with the gun but the magazine. Maybe a different sample would be better, or maybe the mag could be re-worked a bit. I'd call hatsan and see if they couldn't help.

Lighter and smaller is not always a good thing in the PCP world, especially when trying to appeal to firearm shooters looking for an alternative.

Forgive my ignorance, I just bought a Vectis, from PyramydAir, and nowhere, not in the manual or on the web, can I find anything that tells me how to actually install the single shot tray. The side that goes down is obvious. It looks like it has kind of a clip that goes onto something, or doesn't it? Should that curled piece be facing the muzzle end or the butt? Either way, it looks like it would just loosely sit there. Thanks in advance.

The flip up sights on this gun suck, is there a replacement or more common type available . I can't use a scope for how I hunt.

I just got a .25 , and the 2nd ammo I tried in it was 30 gr home cast BBT HP bullets, accurate enough with the open sights, and no bent pellet skirts from the mag :) Stock it is getting 10 shots with 5 fps ES, and 62 FPE

Glad you did the review on this gun. I like the idea of a quick follow up with the lever action but I have to say that thing has the ugliest removable sights I believe I've ever seen on any gun. I have to wonder what the hatsan engineering department was thinking when they designed them. Id probably still buy one though. Great review Rick!

    • @leroyjarvis5617
      @leroyjarvis5617 Před 4 lety +2

@Matt E exactly, I'm always wondering how the airgun industry as a whole, for the most part any way, is so bent on making a perfectly great air gun and then make it look like something you would think was an experiment gone bad. That has kept me away from more than one airgun that was probably a good shooter but was so ugly I couldn't see myself carrying it around in my house much less outside, lol

Hello.. I’m actually really close to buying this gun. The lever action looks nice for second shots, on a pesting perspective. But using the rotary mag looks to be a problem on some pellets. My son has the Flashpup, I’ll have to ask him if he’s had this issue..

So….after almost 3 years of owning this airgun,I gotta say it’s still my most reliable.. I have two other PCPs and they both leak. There is a man making 3d printed mags in India. But honestly, the way the mags are designed compared to others, these mags are the best! I’ve not had any issues with pellets getting skirt bent, like I had on my other 2. This is such a great gun!!

Too much plastic. The rail, the lever and the muzzle brake need to be metal. Also would like a build in moderator or even the option to take the brake off to attach one

Buy ya know it would be alot funner if it wasn't so freaking ugly and feels like a Mattel toy gun cause it is not a toy by no means. It's a powerful tool is what it is,but make em look like a damn gun and not Sci fi crap

Rick tried to sweeten the pill... the outcome: This is probably not a good rifle. My first air rifle almost 5 years ago was a Hatsan Springer ( torpedo 155). It was a very cool looking (looked like an M1), heavy (over 10 lbr), powerful, prone to damages, with a lot of quality issues. Catalogue price was 350€ and the dealer gave it to me for 200 (last piece he said)- what a bad decision I made!! Five years later I have the knowledge to understand that cheap Turkish airguns are a waste of money and time. Airguns primarily have to be accurate in order to give you joy, not necessarily powerful, and most important you really need to like what you're buying. Save the money you need and buy something beautiful, accurate and quality made, not cheap Turkish junk. In the worst case, If money was an issue, on airguns I would rather go Chinese, but not Turkish...
