I watched all these as a wrestler in high school, now I watch them all as a wrestling coach
Glad they are still useful.
@@louiejushereheeer4822 Great to hear that it's useful in other disciplines.
Beautiful, coming full circle
And still cant do it in a match
@@Stargazer221 which rules
Been hitting your single leg series in my bjj matches. Got me out here looking like a All American 😂😂😂
Great to hear that!
I started taking bjj years before I ever wrestled and Just a year of wrestling had me hitting double and single legs on my bjj opponents in comp like it was nothing. If anyone on here competes and wants to take it to the next level, step onto that mat with both grappling arts and you'll dominate most opponents.
Each art is a weapon. I'd rather be good with 5 weapons then a master at only 1.
@@drunkenmonkey352 Thanks for the info.

Thanks Obi for all the demos.
Yes, he did us all a solid with his work on these videos.
Lely high baby!! Represent
Obi is #1
this is one of the classic Kolat technique videos, glad to see the channel starting to be active again
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
I went to college with Obi. He is the real deal. A beast on the mat and a true professional in life.
So true!!
Coach you're a national treasure to the sport
Thank you! We have a lot of great technicians coming up in the sport.
Can't lie this channel helped me grow so much as a wrestler, and through that, as a person in general. I can't thank the world enough for the gift of wrestling
Glad to hear we helped.
I remember 11 years ago watching these because I was so scared to go to my first wrestling practice. Helped me cope with the fact that I’d probably be getting flipped around 😂. Thank you coach K
Glad we could help out!
I’ll try this in golf practice tomorrow. Thx coach ⛳️
Hope you have soft greens.
Ffffuck, I love these clips. It takes me back to a time when I wasn’t a complete, worthless, pos. Takes me back to a time when I was motivated. When I had dedication to suffer through hard practices when I was tired. I miss myself.
You can get it back!
I need this in my BJJ game. Wrestlers are so difficult to deal with. Lots of pressure, strong bases. Subscribed to your channel.
Thanks for the sub!
Wrestling is godly.
Thanks for being a subscriber to our channel!
I can’t tell you how much this really helped in my wrestling
That's great to hear!
Glad this is active. More shorts and videos, please!
So far so good, we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the encouragement!
I loved watching the match of You vs Ironside. Freaking Epic. IF that was you Mr. Kolat
Thank you! Would have preferred a different outcome!
Great tips! I used to wrestle in middle school! Now it’s my sons turn! Can’t wait to show them these techniques!💪🏾💯
Fantastic!

For sure!
Kolat channel helped me a lot along the way
Our channel is always grateful for the support of our MMA brothers.

Best of luck!

this guys awesome. really selfless to be sharing all these gems with the masses
Appreciate that!
Thank you coach Cary for introducing me to wrestling, now I always find myself using your techniques in mma and grappling matches
Glad you are able to apply wrestling to your sport! It's all about fundamentals and position.
@@KOLATCOM thanks a lot, although wrestling is non existent in my country Vietnam, your videos really encourage me to practice it myself and it has since changed my life in many ways, I even have your app on my phone. Can't thank you enough for that!
@@NguyenNhuNguyen_ Awesome, you are a pioneer!
I miss wrestling
It misses you too!
Lots of guys who miss wrestling keep joining at the BJJ gym near me.
@@jasonmorar3001 Yes, seems like a popular way to get back on the mat.
Bjj dad here! this is great!! This can help my son too thank you very much, earned my sub and respect!
Awesome! Thank you!
Ohhhh man I love this move. I have caught quite a few wrestlers/BJJ guys with this. Especially due to the fact most jiu jitsu guys go right to the whizzer.
Depending on who my opponent is you can make this a really fun ride for them. If you want to make it really fun that’s when you introduce them to the world. Thank you for demonstrating this your form and tips are right on. Since the key is getting deep under that knee.
It’s always a good idea to also practice this on people with different heights and body types to really get this down. The majority of the time they’re not ready for this so it’s quite a treat!😂😂
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
Great videos, these are very helpful with coaching.
Happy to hear that!
I love Kolats videos! Been watching them for years!

Love this channel. Used to watch them all the time.
Thanks for your many years supporting the channel.
This move worked for me a few years ago, but I lost because the ref said it was illegal and the guy couldn’t continue.
Yes, this is a freestyle move not be used in high school or collegiate wrestling where the back arch is not allowed.
@@KOLATCOM I’ve gotten away with it a few times, but I’d like to thank you for making videos. Watching these where a staple of my high school wrestling career. I wrestled folk mainly but did a little bit of Greco Roman and freestyle too.
You're welcome. Thank you for your continued support of the channel!
@@KOLATCOM why is the back arch not allowed?
@@AbcAbc-sp1od In folkstyle wrestling it's banned because they feel it could be dangerous and want to avoid slams.
I hit this on a purple belt in BJJ one time. Dude had no clue what happened, lol. He got pretty pissed, actually, and I didn’t even slam him as hard as this guy.
Glad to hear it was useful!
Some BJJ guys get really weird about wrestling in sparring. I think it’s just that most BJJ schools don’t really train takedowns that much, so going airborne is a really scary and new experience for them lol.
This is wicked awesome!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
@@KOLATCOM what are the steps to prevent a person from landing on their neck? (Put another way, to keep practice safe, what are the key things the thrower can do and what should the person being thrown do?).
@@MikeEHY If you are inexperienced with the back arch you can start out by practicing the back arch on a crash mat without a partner. When throwing, the better your back arch is the softer the landing is. The person being thrown will naturally lean forward and tuck their chin to their chest when they are being thrown backwards. This is the proper thing to do and you will land on the top of your shoulders avoiding injury. You should only wrestle and drill on high quality wrestling mats and wrestling or gymnastic crash mats which are designed to absorb the impact. Folding mats, tumbling mats etc. are not safe to wrestle on.
Nice I’ve been trying to do this in wrestling thanks
Make sure you learn the back arch before trying it live.
Back Arch
Start with a back bridge on a wrestling mat to work on a good arch posture on your toes. Then back arch push-ups on a wrestling mat from a back bridge to further develop and strengthen your arch. Next, use a partner spotter to begin practicing back arches on a wrestling mat. The partner will face you standing upright outside your stance to your right holding your right hand with his right hand and using his left hand to support your arm when needed. Arch backwards and your partner will lessen your impact on the mat with his hand grip until you are able to develop a smooth arch. If you have a crash pad you can also start practicing your arch solo on the crash pad. Step in throw your head back pop your hips and aim for a high arch. Only begin to throw a partner once you have developed your ability to arch.
Love that! Can't wait to try it
It's great for freestyle season!

Man this is some useful good information have no idea what im doing but gonna try
It's a good idea to learn a back arch before attempting this throw.

Next, use a partner spotter to begin practicing back arches on a wrestling mat. If you have a crash pad you can also start practicing your arch solo on the crash pad. Step in throw your head back pop your hips and aim for a high arch. Only begin to throw a partner once you have developed your ability to arch.
