- It's time to return to the Centennial State for a look at trains all around Colorado! This video features a compilation of trains I have filmed in Colorado over the years. Some of these clips have been featured on the channel before, but many of them have never been posted. We'll travel all over the state to see modern day Amtrak, BNSF, and Union Pacific trains running around as well as a number of the well known steam and diesel tourist trains. From Rocky Mountains to grassy plaines, everything is included in this hour long look at trains in Colorado!
CoasterFan2105 is the home of all sorts of train and railroad related video content. Beautiful scenery!!🎉❤
Living in Colorado all my life has really been an inspiration. You'd think that you have seen all, but there is always something you missed the time before and so a repeat trip to areas with trains keeps me coming back for more. Never get tired of trains or Colorado beauty, no matter how many times I see it. Spectacular!! Thank you Mike for a wonderful video.
😊😊

I love your channel AJ railfan!!!
It’s not even tall, I think the truck are just dug down

I, too, love psychedelic drugs.

YES!!! I love the royal gorge route railway! I rode on that train last week! And he put the winter park express on here! 😃

Wow! Romantic! The words "Passengers do not sleep, but there is silence around, Outside the window, the sound of wheels, in the lights of the city. "
I Love Steam Trains so Much

*sees video title* I am going to enjoy this.🚂
Ive always loved the RGS railroad mainly for Rio Grande Southern 4-6-0 #346, the oldest of the Rio Grande Railroad Museum. Lets not forget the Royal Gorge EMD F7 pair of 471 and 477!! 20:38 has the BEST whistle! It sounds so BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Didn’t No.346 always belong to the D&RGW?

I love trains
Beautiful, amazing video. We really enjoyed all of trains and scenery. You do outstanding work.

Thank you, Matt!
Great video for august!
I was just thinking on the Durango and Silverton Railroad!!! I was watching photos of the bumblebee livery of the 1950s, and investigating about the oldest surviving D&RGW steam locomotives!!!!!
COLORADO BABY. Nice vid Mike. Love that Royal Gorge train.
Thank you! The Royal Gorge is awesome!

I love the way the Train horn sounds.
Only The Centennial State of Colorado has the best narrow gauge railroad coverage around 😀

Awww it makes me sad that the P42DC’s are slowly being retired...They Were My Childhood In Southern California... =(

Wow 4.5 Million Views Thank you Mike
Colorado has some good standard gage railroads as well.
I like the WIG WAGS on the crossings

I am sad to say as a native of Colorado. The San Luis valley and rio grade railroad who did the passenger train service for alamosa to la veta pass has become bankrupt and no longer offers passenger trains
5:20 I love the horn! It’s similar to the Union Pacific’s older Dash - 8’s from the Blue Mountains.
I love them too, reminds of those documentaries on it by questar
I can't believe these trains exist in colorado,I want to ride the black steam train with the yellow cars
That would be the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The post D&RGW line runs from the recreational hub of Durango up to the historic mining town of Silverton. The line was built in 1881-1882. It is an amazing journey to say the least.
Nice trains and a long vid!
Thank you!
Cool

I really enjoyed this video, Mike. I always love your trains in states videos, including California Trains, New Mexico Trains, and Florida Trains. Can’t wait for the next state. Someday, I want to see a Virginia Trains video, once you have enough footage for it.
I don't like later steam engines with stubby smokestacks and the light mounted on boiler center line.
The older, Wild West ones are my faves, like this one on 23:02, but what is it?
D&RGW No.315 is a C-18 Class Consolidation built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1895. Its appearance has changed over the years as it once had the gas-lit headlight and the big diamond smoke stack for the ultimate Wild West look.
@@itsyaboi3349 TY!
Why did they get rid of the smoke stack? Not that this one is bad, but ...
@@Trump-a-Tron I’m not sure if the date, but it was because a new spark arresting feature was developed. The big diamond stacks served as spark arrestors before a device that goes inside the smoke box was developed; it forces the escaping air to form a little cyclone, which allows more time for the cinders to cool and/or fall down. Then there is also the bear trap on top of the stack which also helps catch more of the embers.
Edit: After some research, I believe this locomotive always had the newer spark arresting system. I think this locomotive was built too late to be fitted with a classic diamond stack. But there are other locomotives, much like this, still around that had it.
@@itsyaboi3349 Coal is less of a problem so no need for them then. I guess 1890s is too modern for my taste.
@@Trump-a-Tron I suppose so, but I think you’d be happy to now there are a couple other narrow gauge consolidations in CO that were built in the 1880s such as No.278 and No.346, which operates at the Colorado Railroad Museum. In Utah, No.223 is undergoing restoration.
Awesome
I enjoyed this but I'm puzzled that anyone would give it a thumbs down. The title tells you what it is! Anyone who doesn't want to watch trains in Colorado is not obliged to watch!
I love all the trains but wanted to note the Railcar at 32:31! Maybe circa 1930's?
28:00 Favorite Whistle

Very cool!

Awesome video, Great catches and scenery.
Awesome video liked 🚄🚂👍
Love it nice!

Looks good
The days of steam are mostly behind.... But the one thing I always wondered about was, 'Did they massively increase the risks of forest fires during their time'? And or how did the railways mitigate those risks at the time when rapid response to fires was not the case?
P0 loL I lol
I love the area
beautiful! I think this is your nicest selection of film
Thank you, Matt!
Nice video and catches 👍👍👍. On 24:15 is that a California zephyr or Southwest Chief!!!
