- as we approach the end of the year, it's about that time i start to reflect on the highs and lows of plant parenthood over the last 12 months. it's definitely been a year of learning patience, new techniques, and also letting go. i feel like compared to last year, i really put in a solid effort giving some of my most loved plants the attention they deserve, and some of it paid of and some hasn't. so hang out with me for the next hour to reflect on some of the best glow ups and glow downs of the year + what i believe to be my best plant purchase of the year! 💚

I purchased 2 2” pots of philo micans and put them outside on my north facing deck and and the end of 4 months I repotted them into an 8” hanging basket. I have worked really hard on pest control also as I noticed pests love fuzzy leaves. It’s looking great and will continue to cut it back to reprop until it’s super thick. It’s already super long. This plant grows so fast
Love the obovata. I’m not a Hoya person but they are so pretty.
Some Hoya are like Scindapsus in that they fill in really well for trailing plants.
My rufabarba Calathea had damage like that and since I sprayed off my leaves every week I never saw webbing or eggs until I didn’t clean it for 2 weeks then I saw the eggs on the back. I ended up cutting all the foliage off and putting the pot into a ziploc baggie and it’s slowly growing back
Okay I thought i had fallen out of love with the albo monsteras, but I think I’ve just fallen out of love with mine lol. That is the albo of my dreams!!!!!!
Look for wrought iron pieces as an alternate kind of trellis option. It’ll be black to start with, and there’s lots of home center, thrifting, and custom options
My jaw dropped when you bent the leaves down on your majestic. Just because I had no idea you could do that 😂
That cute little smiley on your shelf that Alice got you... sooooo adorable!!
I moved my obovata into better light and it started turning pink. I did not think this plant changed it's color like some do. Yours is absolutely beautiful hopefully mine will look that good one day
Thank you for sharing this past 6 months or so since I found your posts. I've watched so many of them back a couple years now. So now my "plant wishlist" has doubled or maybe tripled because of you. It's all find. I wish you all you wish yourself for you and your family in 2024
The obovata is stunning!
Hey Sherman, you are looking so well, hope Archie is tucked in tight and lets you off with the nausea soon. Have you considered an obelisk trellis for indoors for your mammoth obovata? They come in black and I think they look more ‘indoorsy’ than the ugly wooden ones. Just a thought xx
When you turned the leaves on the majestic down, how hard do you know how to press without snapping it off?
you'll be able to feel it! it's actually quite flexible but you'll feel a point where there's the slightest bit of tension, and once you feel that you'll know to stop. this is probably worst plant advice ever but here we are 😂
I can’t believe how big that Obovata got in just a year!!! Wow!
Great plants, both glowed-up & glowed-down. Thanks for sharing & Happy Holidays to the 3 of you & pudge also!
I remember the “Yucca” adventure 😀 It was quite this mission to repot and clean it up. It’s looking beautiful 😀🇨🇦
Happy holidays to you, Vince, and Archie 🎄🎅🏻🎁
Stunning albo!! 🤍💚🤍
Beautiful plants. Would love for you to do a video of all the plant fertilizers, amendments, products, etc that you use. The how, when and why? I know you have done it throughout multiple videos but having an in depth video focused on your favs or most used would be wonderful and so informative!Thank you and congrats on pregnancy
Holy obovata!!!!!!!!!!! I got one because of yours, and mine has also been a vigorous grower. Truly my favorite hoya! 🤩
I love the idea of soil poles. Do you have a video where you talk about that?
I rarely see plants limping and trailing at the same time so thanks!
💚💚
I thought that you were going just full pregnancy brain and giving us micans 3 times in a row. 😆
Omg me too!!!!!!!!! I was like wait is there an editing error, I just heard about micans
My micans spots like that and idk why. No pests or efn.. I have spent literal hours checking it with a microscope., and it’s infuriating
my problem with trailing philos in general, they look great for a year or two and just fall apart.
That yucca ❤❤
My Hoya obovata finally put out three new leaves and a long vine. It’s propped up against the plant stand.
My marginata got thrips between and on the leaves. I didn’t have any 99% alcohol but I used 70% mixed with water and castille soap to clean it up. Several sprays and I run the leaves through my fingers to pull the leaves through and pull off the dead or drying mealies. I didn’t want any. To be sort of dead but be able to come back. It survives.
Surrender to the wooden/bamboo trellis for obovata. In fact, get two and cross them. My obovata is absolutely massive and trust me it’s the only way to go. And I also hate wood/bamboo trellises. They’re hideorama. But fear not. This time next year, the entire trellis will be hidden behind leaves so don’t bother painting it.
That obovata is huge.
Thanks for another great video! Good and bad is realistic in this plant world.. But they look good 👍💚🐶kisses to pudge and enjoy Christmas.. Will be so different next year 💙
Didn’t know you could make them face forward.
You could always paint 🎨 it black....
