I put all my alocasias in self-watering planters and they love it.
YES!!! Alocasia is in my top 3 types of plants, so I'm EXTRA interested in this video!! 🥰 I will never have enough Alocasia's 😅😂
i'm glad you're here for it!! i've been on such an alocasia kick lately- it's all i've been looking at the last few weeks!
@@unplantparenthood I feel you on that!!
I've placed a couple of plant orders already this year, some wishlist hoyas, alocasias and a couple other plant varieties, but I'm suuuuper excited about the few alocasias coming my way! ❤️
A large chunk of my collection is just different types of Alocasia and a few multiples of my favourites 😅🥰 #obsessed
I am so obsessed with alocasia's, so this video is an absolute treat! 🥰
38:21 I have a few Alocasia now. With my first one, and only one at the time, the Amazonica had fungal infection, without thinking, I just completely beheaded it, and then I even had to trim it more because it contracted mould. She grew back ❤. I put her outside in South morning sun as I’m in Australia.
However, I am in a cold climate as well
Have some Alocasias at home love them .
i think the new leaf on your cuprea looks so much like a ribcage! such a cool plant :D
I am not sure what it is, but alocasia love my home! I have gotten really lucky both with great specimens and with my particular care habits just working really well for alocasia, so I am just really grateful that they aren't too finicky at my house because I love them! I have both the green and variegated versions of the frydek, melo, maharani, odora variegata and green version, cuprea, and the Jacklyn . . . I think that is everyone :) But I love them! They're one of my favorite genuses along with anthurium :) Thanks for the fun video! I loved seeing your collection :)
Next one on my list is the Alocasia Sarian :)
Nice small alocasia collection! Thanks for sharing.
My Alocasia collection is large, in part because of your and other great fun videos. I love my Dragons Breath so much; fast growing, beautiful, & unusual.. And exactly what you said on the Cupria! And I too just brought one home yesterday! 💚😂
I just got a small Scalprum myself. Hopefully I'll have good luck with it. I'm glad to hear it's one of the less finicky alocasias.
Oohh - glad to see someone else talk about the Venusta. I got one about a year ago and yeah - they are quite slow, but so worth it.
Yes!! Alocasia are my favorite!!
Beautiful 😍
I want tour scalprum soooo bad!! I had a seedling and my dog ate it. I've been trying to get another one forever
FINALLYYYY ❤
I love alocasia no matter what struggles we have 😂 I grow my corms in a tiny tiny bit of water under a grow light and they take off!
Hi Charmaine, not sure if its long enough for a video but i'd love to know your opinion on some of the newer philodendron hybrids floating around! I've seen a few interesting ones like the billi x verru, billi x el choco, verru x gloriosum, dean x mamei, billi x pink princess, florida beauty x tortum etc. Would you be interested in growing them? Most likely they won't beat the parents but interesting to talk about nonetheless! Also love your alocasia collection 😄
Variegated frydek is gorgeous but so hard. It’s currently on time out since getting spider mites
Hi, i would love to know what brand of perlite you’re using on Alocasia. It will help my Frydek to stay alive on transition to pon substrate. I appreciate you for keeping us learn about beautiful collections you have. More power to you!
If only you were in the states I will literally mail you twelve dragon's breath corms tomorrow. Mine makes corms and flowers like it's her job. She's girl bossing so hard rn.
7:31 that Alocasia 😮😮😮
Does the one with spots need a packet of the mite eating bugs.
❤
Was hoping for another longer video, so I'm so excited to watch this! (Of course I get that you wont be able to do as many long and physically demanding videos so a sit down sounds great ❤)
doing long form videos are programmed in my DNA but man pregnancy has been EXHAUSTING 😮💨
I bet 😭
@@unplantparenthoodyup, that was the first symptom for me before I even knew! Naps are life!😂
Charmaine! I have a Dragon’s Breath and it gives me corms all the time! The next time I dig one out - I’ll send it to you if you don’t have one already ❤️🔥
Maybe Alocasias that are stressed (close to dying) might produce corms (survival of the species?). Just a thought...😁😁😁
so like a pea is too small, a medium grape is about right?
a pea is doable, but i've found that many of those size corms either take FOREVER to do anything and in the waiting time they either turn hollow or just turn to mush. i'd say the size of a small grape is ideal! but honestly, i've propagated some of the TINIEST corms, but rooting/propagation success is sort of luck of the draw in my experience.
💚💚💚
There is a pot collar that you can buy. Russo, I think.
rousseau just sent me some actually! you'll see it in a future video :)
I have a grow tent and a greenhouse but I can’t get them to grow in my greenhouse what is going on
what type of greenhouse is it?
@@unplantparenthood a big one a 12 by 12 with a fan
My Dragon’s Breath makes so many corms. Can I send you some?
I don't really have anymore Alocasia's on my wishlist because I try to grow out a few smaller ones that I got second hand. I'm not the patient type but at the same time it's so exciting to watch them grow from corms 🥰

For me the scalprum has been the easiest for me. I love frydeks but you are right I haven issues with those ones too. They are so pretty. Thanks to your tips I keep mine in either no drainage or self watering in semi hydro. Alos and soil doesn’t work for me. Never has issues with fertilizers either. I agree I don’t trust myself with variegated expensive alos I killed an enough alos in my time. The pink variegated ones are very pretty but I can’t bring myself to get one. Maybe in a trade I’ll try it but for now I have to work on what I have.
Your alocasia video from like a year or two ago was my first plant video and I will never forget ❤️😂
🫶
Yay 🫶🏻 Alocasia is and will forever be my favorite. They are SUPER finicky and takes forever to get the hang of the care. I find that even when things are consistent sometimes they just switch up on you 🥲 but truly so stunning and worth the chaos.
❤
