I love your video but find it sad to see these abandoned cemeteries, and I hope that someplace there is records for them so that info not lost!! Thank you Sue for showing us these cemeteries, I do genealogy and know how important it is to not lose this info
Yes, I believe next there was use of a flat stone marker and then the upright headstone, possible there is some difference in dates in different areas. Simple people, believing no one was different in life as in death. Beautiful lives really
Once again you gave me a history lesson today. I didn’t know the Quakers didn’t use headstones before the mid 1800s. Thank you for getting out in the rain to take us to the cemetery
Unusual way the Quakers do not have headstones on the very old graves, but we must respect their ways if doing things. That Church is beautiful, thank you for getting wet in the rain to video this for us.
Beautiful church and graveyard. I guess there were only a few graves, for priests. The burial place for Quakers was, I think somber and quiet, which was probably the atmosphere they wanted. I learned something from you today; I did not know that Quakers did not use headstones before the 1850s. I actually like how the little cemetery is laid out, a mound with the headstone on its back in the middle. Thank you very much for another great video Sue and GV. Have a great weekend.
VERY INTRIGUING video!! I never knew about the grave stones either!! I wonder whether it was the same in England too??!! Take care, and stay safe everyone!! XXXX
I remember when I was in Germany specifically Munich / Frankfurt area 1973 .. one thing that sticks with me is how clean and kept up were the cemeteries 🙏+
The irish weather, certainly takes its toll on soft stone, but yet again sue a grand Video, and i didnt know that they had no headstones before 1855, good info Thx x
The graveyard is a little sad how they did not have markers.I don’t mean for us but for their loved ones who visited them..But I could imagine they count along and down. The Church is kept beautifully and the windows certainly are very beautiful. Thank you for taking us on your adventure ..Love n Light 🥰
Thank you again for another lovely, respectful video. Question: you said the Quakers didn’t use headstones before 1855. Was there a requirement in the law that said they had to use them from 1855 forward, or just a change in tradition? Silly question, but I am curious. Thank you 😊
Yes some did and some didn't more were very exact in data they collected and then some were not so particular, information online is hard to find, maybe some bigger friend (Quaker) communities have better records
The church is absolutely beautiful . At the cemetery, is there any record of who is in the unmarked graves, or are their identities lost to the ages? I enjoyed the video.
What is the white and green stuff that seems to grow on those headstones? Is it something like moss and do you find it's more prevalent in specific types of stones? There should be. Quaker society somewhere that would take time to map and name those buried.
St Fintans is absolutely beautiful
That church is so beautiful! Thank for another video. Hello from the US!
Hi Susan, yes it was fab, pity camera didn't pink up the walls and windows better

The Irish weather is very changeable here, even though I live in the sunny South East the day can change in a minute, 4 seasons in one day 😬
@@SerenitySueGraveyards not far off here in England lol

Its most unusual that the graves have not sunk,
Church is stunning

What allways makes me wonder is, In America they have indentations where a grave was but we have mounds ????
Burial mounds is the correct way I should refer to them as, yes that's interesting,.🤔
Didn't the Quakers keep records of births and deaths?
Thank You!❤
Yes some did and some didn't more were very exact in data they collected and then some were not so particular, information online is hard to find, maybe some bigger friend (Quaker) communities have better records

I hope there are but it's so long ago, I have not been able find much online ❤️🍀🇮🇪

There should be. Quaker society somewhere that would take time to map and name those buried.
Hi, I think it's moss and fungus, depends on the stone and maybe even the area they are in. I agree there should be
So if Quakers didn’t do head stones till after 1855, is there recording of those buried anywhere?
Do you see many burial mounds without any markers like this especially Quakers
Yes every quaker burial ground I've found have them ❤️🍀🇮🇪
Who plays the piano music in the videos ?
It's music from the app I use, I'll have to look it up
Beyond the moon is the name, composed by modular one
Thanks
