Gang Member Arrested in Human Smuggling Attempt

DPS Troopers used a PIT Maneuver to stop a human smuggler leading them on a high-speed vehicle pursuit in Hidalgo County. The driver, a confirmed Sureno 13 Gang member reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, was eventually stopped and arrested. He’s charged with smuggling of persons, evading arrest and smuggling persons with the likelihood of severe injury or death. Six illegal immigrants were referred to Border Patrol.
