- A DPS Trooper discovered 10 illegal immigrants being smuggled into the United States during a traffic stop on Sept. 14, in Del Rio. The Trooper stopped a box truck for a traffic violation along Hwy 77. During the stop, they discovered the illegal immigrants inside the truck. The driver was charged with smuggling of persons and all 10 illegal immigrants were referred to USBP.

Why do people consent to searches? Doing this ties your lawyers hands where he has almost nothing to work with.
Even then, if he didn’t consent they would have brought out the K9’s making it worse. At least the courtroom has some type of sympathy for the guy because he cooperated.
Why are people so ignorant of commercial vehicle laws? You are subject to inspection at any time. The only way to avoid one is if you have been inspected in the last 6months and have a sticker. Even then they could still do search under the guise of a CMV inspection.

I know this guy. Sad to see; I know he was struggling to start his own moving/truck business. He grew up in the foster system and never had a parent or relative help him. My husband was best friends with him growing up as kids but they just went down different paths as they got older. I never thought it was this bad for him or I would've tried to help him with advertising for his company for free with more urgency. Dang! Life is all about decisions, and I pray he will turn his life around after this.
