- I FINALLY FINISHED this new Metal Art piece where I tried painting over my Tig Welds.... and definitely was ambitious with this one...maybe too ambitious. But hey, I gotta try new things to learn and get better! I had the idea to try a couple new techniques in this project, and I'm super glad I did. Although it was INSANELY TEDIOUS and I almost went insane trying to do it, I'm really pumped with how it turned out.
I hope you enjoy this project! Check out more of my Tig Welding Art videos below!

Thanks so much for watching! Check out my NEWEST piece here!🔥🔥 czcams.com/video/FpaDdDRMeyc/video.html🔥🔥
So inspiring and skillful. Pure 🔥
For those dots you're struggling to clean... Some Petroleum Jelly on an earbud. Coat each dot before painting, wipe off after painting...
Easy peasy...
The dexterity and the consistency is unreal. Keep on inspiring bro
I really like the contrast between the wood mounting board and the metal. One of my favorites.
Alan thanks so much! I love that contrast as well🙏🙏
Turned out fantastic Dusty. I had to watch it twice. Was just as good the second time. Thanks. Rick.
Rick thank you! I appreciate that so much
What can we say, it’s a piece of art…👍🏼
You can tell its the art pieces that get you really pumped...
Thanks bro. I loved this one!
HA, fancy seeing you over here.
@@Liam-ir6xm ha ha!
Try putting some grease on each dot before you paint, might be easier than removing paint with thinner
Really beautiful piece of art.
Bro you went off on this! 🔥🔥🔥 Too clean!
I guess it would be fair to say that TIG welding is indeed the most precise form of welding. Incredible.
I'm new to welding, and this is inspirational.
Holy crap brother! I’d assumed this type of art took some skill, but I never knew how much WORK went into something like this! Skills on so many levels. Amazing dude.
That’s crazy. Insane detail. You da man...
No YOU da man Marc! 💪💪💪
Inspiration like this is what I needed for my next art project. Thanks Big D!
I love the depth in this piece. One again excellent work!
It was a nice piece great job!
Hey thanks man! I appreciate you checking it out!
Spectacular!
You could try something like a cotton bud (not sure if you call them that over there, the thing you clean inside your ear with) to wipe away paint rather than a brush. It might be quicker if you can use a bit of a firmer scrubbing action. Or maybe a lint free cloth over the end of a pencil / round bar off cut?
Have you thought about learning some leather work / carving to integrate that in your works? Could be a cool contrast.
Very nice. Beautiful! Thank you very much for sharing.
Out standing work
Epic. You are definitely a legit artist. This is really great!
Crazy. I really like the dot effect you do. And that slow paint brush part was well worth it.
Thanks nick! Yeah it was tedious as f but super worth it🍻
Absolutely great , good job .
Awesome, just Awesome!!!!!
Thanks for sharing and keep up your great work!
True talent. I was only watching to pick up a few tig welding techniques.
Very inspiring.
Now I wanna be an artist. Thanks for sharing!
So sick!
This is freaking gorgeous. Incredible work!
I was thinking next time you try to remove paint from a spot weld, try getting a small hole punch and maybe punch out some tape or sticker or something and place those on top of the welds, then do your painting, then peel off the sticker you made from the hole punch. 👍
Genius...! Love the inspiration you have provided :-)
Maybe some dot stickers for the welded dots. Trim with a knife if any are too big for the weld dot or go back after with a tiny touch up brush if any are too big.
Mad welding skill though. Looks comparable tedium wise, to when I weld up a torso out of nuts and bolts! Mind numbing!!!! A good sound track playing helps. XD
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching so much and thanks for the ideas! Cheers:)
Nice handle!
Acetone might work better than laquer thinner depending on what kind of paint youre using. Its definitely worth a try. Otherwise you can rubbing petroleum jelly onto the dots before you paint so the paint won't stick to the metal. Something ive done alot. The jelly is like a liquid masking tape
So good! Loving your work Champ. I'm a 50yo Music Exec in Sydney that has never thought about welding in my life until lock down. A friend gave me a go of his (dial'ed in) machine & I was hooked. I then bought a machine of my own. We are still in lock down in Sydney, so this has been a life saver....especially considering I basically sell tickets for a living ;) Thank you & keep up the great work. CHEERS....PS: I want to be like you when I grow up :)
Truly amazing
Awesome!
I will do my best to get as good if not better, i greatly appreciate all these videos im binging them before class and cant wait yo apply what i have learned. Coming from an artistic background into welder ng i love tig and these videos make sense to me
Very nice, great work dude!
I AM IN AWE
Sweet Job!!! Cheers!
Outstanding piece dusty, definitely worth all the time and effort 😁👌
It's awesome 👌👏
Thats beautiful art brother ! Thanks for sharing. GBU
Awesome artwork! Shows great patience!
For me it is beautiful !!!
Beautiful job
I dig it alot. A true Artist
Dope video, got a LKD&SBSCRBLD , thank you for changing back and forth to real-time for us trying to get better at TIG!
you could try putting wax on certain areas you need to mask off.. then after painting, you can quickly rub off the wax to reveal the weld design underneath.. especially for those arc dots you slaved over
Beautiful
Thank you Dusty, great job, you are very good artist, I am really interested in learn about it, I like drawing, Tig welding is not easy but I going to try, thank you Dusty again
Beautiful peace of art, beautiful welds. just getting into welding this is an insperation.
Dusty .. I feel ur pain... logistics are a curse when it comes to creativity... don’t let the Time dictate your creativity 💚👍👍 like the Textures created.. have to say when I saw your prep... I’m like shhooot that was an art piece in its self 😘 keep it up bruh
Haha I love it. Thank you my friend 🙏
i just stumbled across this channel from my usual auto mechanic stuff and have enjoyed the content, welding turned into an art form , when im used to just holding stuff together with a mig, i will stop by from time to time and check up on your work with amazement, and maybe get some pointers on tig , as a have a dc machine but not ac for aluminum caio.
Awesome my man! LOVE the gas troubleshooting. So relatable. And the buffing redo is how I've handled that in the past. Your dremel work is so intricate and on point bro. Always a joy watching ya, puts my pieces in their place for sure lol speaking of, an immediate smile came on when I seen the logo in the background there. :) that's wild. I sure do love this niche community
Dude I appreciate it so much. We all learn from each other so being tight is super important. Happy to hear from you always bro
love your art you are an art genius
Epic!
Thanks so much for your videos
Absolutely my friend. More to come:)
Wow man it came out incredible!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching 🙏🙏🙏
...amazing cuz..ive tig welded my whole life...mostly re-buliding boat and ship propellers...i could feel the zone you get in while welding extended periods...kinda like meditation..happened to me all the time...you ever get "big syndrome"?.....kinda feels like you are miles away from the piece being welded and its really huge?....beautiful artwork brother....
Thanks so much! Yes, I usually always have music in, and when I hit a certain vibe, I’m gone. I get so close to my puddle, yet feel like I’m miles away. An incredible experience:) thanks so much for watching!🙏🍻
"big syndrome" Woah... I never really noticed it till reading your description but come to think of it, yeah I totally have. Though I've experienced the corresponding "small syndrome" far more often -generally while in a relaxed state before falling asleep. Interesting...
I’ve never thought it under the ‘big syndrome’ label before but I’ve got that on night shifts doing overlay welding. I like that term.
I noticed you do substantial welds stretches to hold your workpiece to the bench (assuming it is welded to the bench). Is that how you avoid warping? How thick is your blank workpiece? Awesome welding and artwork, BTW.
Love the work, good background music while you weld. I like the artwork because it’s different from other art work around
Bravo Dusty. Spray painting with a can is like riding a dragon. Very unpredictable. How you manage to wrestle results like this is simply amazing. Again fearless execution. Have you taken an airbrush for a spin yet? That may be the next level.
That’s the next level for sure! Although I do enjoy the ‘let’s just send it and see how this turns out’ kinda feeling 😂 I appreciate you watching!
Man.. This piece is incredible! Great job dude
Oh.. 1,000th like 😁
kind of new to your channel so i am not sure if you figured out the removal of paint on the dots yet. but a trick i learned in photography and developing photos from film is rubber cement. put it on the dots first before painting, than the rubber cement just rubs off to expose the dots after paint.
Awesome idea thank you! And I appreciate you watching!🙏🙏🍻🍻
@@PacificArcTigWelding NP, if you do try that method, make sure the paint is mostly dy do you dont pull it all up or ruin it buy rubbing
In case you haven't figured it out yet. Just dab a little oil on the weld dots, and when the painting is done just wipe with a soapy cloth. MAN, your art is in a league of it;s own. WOW
sic piece bro. 👍
Dude, you're a fkn visionary! 🙏 Amazing.
Looks pretty dope dude!!! 👍
Awesome. I’ve been thinking about making art using tig welding as well. But I do not have the skill and steady hand you have( not to mention patients) needed for what you have created here. Brilliant and timeless.
This is beautiful.
At first i thought it was an electronic circuit. maybe a nice idea to make a big electronic chip dye with welds.
Thanks for sharing.
ill be honest, i thought is was pretty cool before you painted it, but once i saw how you brought everything together at the end, you made this piece amazing. i clicked on this video thinking it would the art would be centered around the welding but you really apply alot of different crafts and techniques to create something incredible. really great vdeo dude and really amazing art.
Awesome, didn’t know where you were going with the paint but it worked great. The dots really popped when you cleaned them off.
Maybe some type of resist for keeping the paint off where you don't want it rather than removing it. I don't know, just a thought.
That's unique.
Your welding halftone, im impressed, ...do an entire comic book scene...
Pleeeeease.
Dude, so worth the effort!!!! That's super sick all around, love it!
Dude thank you! I appreciate that a lot 🙏 I’m very happy with how it turned out:)🍻 Hope you are well!
@@PacificArcTigWelding Yeah man you should be. . All good here, stay safe! Btw been listening to hang your teeth and wood and wire, rowdy!!
Using dremel as a “trainer” line. Good idea I will try that. Was gonna guy some trainers from weld metal supply but I already spent too much there 😄
Cool Dusty!! It look's great! Man just by looking at the prep work is making me tired😂
Hey Ryan! Thank you! And yeah, more time prepping and drawing that welding on this one😂😂😂 Hope you are well man!
That’s an amazing piece brother. Nice job
Thank you Robby! I appreciate that!🙏🍻
Another awesome video Dusty.
That's a great looking art piece. All the grids must have been a chore to keep track of where to weld and not weld.
Another killer video and art peice Dusty 🤙
Thanks Nathan!
damn TIG looks so much cleaner than flux core MIG
Beautiful pieces. Possibly try liquid frisket-rubber type liquid, that can rub off on the raised 'dots',....your paint mil thickness has to be thin though. Also good chill creative music picks
Damn your nice with the tig
I really like what you're doing. I tig stainless parts and appreciate a nice weld but what you're doing is something else entirely. It really makes me want to do something similar.
I love you work. I would love to know the machine settings and technical breakdown details on what you're doing though.
Did you ever think about using like a tattoo laser remover to put the dots in the black?
Something like that would be rad for sure. Got some ideas coming on this one:)
Instead of staining the wood with pigment which reverses the grain pattern, try using an oven cleaner, Sodium hydroxide,LYE on the wood to dye it, it gives a darker brown in the natural pattern of the wood, experiment with different dilution for darkness changes...stop the reaction with plain vinegar....for removing the over painted areas, possibly use a paintable rubber frisket as water colorists use to cover areas to be painted, then peel off to reveal underneath, sign painters use a product called Spraylat, I have used with lacquer based paints with great results....hope you like, Paul
Thanks so much for the suggestion! I will investigate! Cheers and thanks for watching!:)
@@PacificArcTigWelding Potassium Permangenate is a great dye for wood also, makes a nice chocolate brown on light wood...and does not reverse the grain pattern....it is used in water conditioners.....
You ever try a foredom SR series? They have a smaller handle with a chuck. I believe you could buy different handles to take bigger bits.
Freakin Ridiculous Bro 💥💯
Super dope artwork man
Thank you so much my friend 🙏🙏🙏
Красавчик! Отличные работы!!!
Looks awesome as always! Your foresight on some of these pieces is outstanding! Anyway you can do a "how to" video for fixing the part in the beginning with the new tank of gas? Or fixing any stainless piece for that matter that did not have the color as you wanted? Cheers!
Honestly didn’t see where you were going with it once you started painting but it all came together! Nice work
Hey bro good shit, i subscribed
So You’ve completely inspired me. For the past few weeks, I’ve been trying my hand at SS tig art and it is beyond challenging. Each piece I do gets better, but far from beautiful. Any tips ?
The weld guru.
Cheers my friend 🙏🍻
Sick vid bro i passed my bend test in tig yesterday thx again and i hope ur mailing that one to me bro its dope
Haha yeah dude! Glad you killed it! Well done!
Hey Dusty, thanks for all these wonderful videos, it is a great help for wannabe welders like me. I do weld stick and MIG, but recently bought a TIG and try to learn, however I can never keep the sheet flat like yours, it always cups. How do you keep it flat even after so many dots? If i did something like that dragon it would be absolute 3d disaster ☹
🔥🔥🔥
Hmm, “tedious”... embrace the trial, it was worth it! Short cuts are for cheats, doing it right is the way art is. Suck it up and enjoy the pain.
Great work!
Thanks so much Hector! 🙏🍻
I find that the bottom 30% of a cylinder of argon produces more oxide colors. When I tap a full 300cuft tank I get pure silver without trying. The bottom of the tank I have to try way harder (bigger lens and higher flow) to get pure silver. The tanks are likely nowhere near 100% pure argon, which doesn’t matter for all practical purposes. As the cylinder pressure drops my guess is the percentage of contaminates in the output raises due to the lower volume (difference in densities is less of a factor).
Anyway, excellent work as always. I enjoy the vids and the art work. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome! Yeah I’ve found a few regulators I’ve used always read funny when empty, I guess I’ve just never emptied mine that much! All good, the supply store is right down the road from me:) Happy you checked out the vid! I appreciate it!
you need to get some dot size stickers made to cover them before painting, then pry off
Maybe a little drop of hot glue on top of the dots before you paint? That way you could just peel off the hot glue
Not a bad idea at all! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@PacificArcTigWelding yea man! Hope it works
