I've gotten quite a few messages from people asking for an episode on How To Weld a Weave Weld. However, nobody asked what type of welding! How To Tig Weld Aluminum? How to Tig Weld stainless steel? I dunno! So, we'll do both, each with their own episode:) So today, How To Tig Weld Aluminum is up first. And it was fun!

I was taught to walk the cup but I really love that pattern really helped me with freehand I never liked it because I was all over the place I may try to implement this to weave Arc and mig

Rusty thank you again for sharing your knowledge and skills. What are you doing with your leftover filler rod knubs? I have been fussing them together so that I can continue to use them as filler rod, Maybe you can show that.
Loving your videos man, and the fact you've taught yourself to TIG, especially as TIG although my favourite, is the only common welding process I have no formal training in 😅
Have you played with smaller cups on aluminium?
You should be able to reduce the width of your frosted/cleaned area a bit if you want to.
I like around a #5-6 cup with regular collet body for aluminium, gas lens for pretty much everything else and a #10+ cup for stainless.
But again, I've got no formal training in TIG.

Yeah I play with different cup sizes a bit, more for stainless though where I want to play with the colours a bit:) For aluminum, I usually try to turn my Hz up a bit and that narrows it down for me a bit:) All good though, I love hearing how other people run setups!

Great Video. I like the camera work during the weld. It is good to hear the sound of your welding so clearly. It helps with the timing.

@@PacificArcTigWelding I abuse a MIG welder on occasion. When first learning a good welder told me to listen to the weld. He told me to find a rhythm that made the sound of happy bacon frying in the pan. That advice helped a lot.
Haha I love that one. The sounds of bacon😂😂 We can all identify that sound very clearly!

I keep looking at the hacksaw in the background. I work with metal every day and NEVER, EVER need one. All Bulls*t aside, WONDERFUL VIDEO.
NICE, VERY NICE, Think this will do well with thick material especially Castings. I will try it with magnesium castings, that way i dont have to clean every weld layer. Also thus varying frequency does matter in this weld other having fix Xformer 60 hz?.Thanks from Cebu

Awesome! I don’t find frequency makes a huge difference with a weave. I can do these at 200+ hz or a transformer at 60. Let me know how it goes! Glad you enjoyed 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Mate, thanks for all the great vids. Can you give any suggestions on table setup. My current setup is terrible and I was thinking of buying or making a table. I mainly like welding aluminium so was considering a think Aluminum plate table. Is this suitable? Cheers.
Hey! You basically can use whatever you need to, but I do use a sheet that I put on my table as a table top. Steel for steel projects, aluminum for aluminum etc. And just keep it clean, no spatter or stray arcs etc. You’ll be off to the races no worries!

Are you using as low of amperage as possible with the foot pedal? I tend to have a lot of heat affected area.

does it matter if you touch the tungsten with your bare hands ,I was told the oils from your skin isn't good ? doesn't seem to visually effect things? great videos big help 👍 👏

Thanks, Dusty. I noticed you used a 3/32 tungsten on this demo, and I thought you used 1/8 on your other aluminum demos. What was the reason for the change? Would a 1/8 have worked as well?
Is the movement the same for regular steel? (S235JR)

Oooooh. Low amps and high cfh and cup size... try 50-65 amps, 20-25 cfh and at least a number 8 cup? You’ll have to barf gas on this one... that plate gonna heat up fast!
