Painting Bedroom Floors !? Quick Temporary Subfloor Makeover

- I'm painting the first bedroom floors! I'm finally ready to move forward with my tween daughter's bedroom makeover project and the first step is to get a couple of great coats of floor paint on this subfloor.
I made the decision to rip out the gross carpet and just paint the floors for now. We will eventually replace the flooring, probably with carpet. But in the meantime, this is a great quick temporary fix for this subfloor. It really elevated the space, hopefully, it also has helped insulate the floors a bit.

Now after having painted three different floors with three different paints, I did an updated version painting my son's bedroom. And for sure if you have the same kinds of subfloors you will want to use a primer that is specifically for covering flooring like this. Because the glue in the subfloor is interfering with the paint actually adhering.
Julie, I don't know how you do all that you do. All the projects, you tube, cook and clean, and don't you home school? And I feel like there isn't a project that you wouldn't tackle. Looking forward to the next step!
Yes, I homeschool as well! It's chaos! lol And I don't do it all well. I've also had to drop other stuff and kind of just go with the flow. I appreciate you joining me on my journey, it actually makes it way more fun to be able to share it and talk about it with friends!
Great inspiration! I'm fixin' to paint my half bath and long laundry room concrete floors tomorrow. I really like that dark color you chose. Can't wait to see what else you do in there.
The dark color turned out so well! I was worried at first because it really does look like a dark blue until it dries lol... Painting isn't nearly as bad when you can roll it.

Should you use Kilns first? Would you use that on a plywood floor?
You could. But I'm not too concerned with it. The paint I used was paint and primer. But I'm not pleased with how it's held up. I'll probably do outdoor paint like patio paint next.

how well has that paint held up?
Not well. I honestly don't think floor paint is anything different than wall paint lol. Going forward I'm going to use outdoor like decking paint. Something oil based likely.

Do you use a paint with a primer included? Glad I came across this I'm getting ready to fix up an old stinky house. Lol
I did an updated video with a way better process recently. I've painted three subfloors now and this last one is definitely holding better. You should watch that, I give all the exact products.
